Same to you, I absolutely respect your and anyone else's view on this matter. I just don't see it as giving up my consumer rights. I'm one of those people that literally fears one day this habit that I love so much might go away entirely, or turn into that crap that you see happening on smartphones. I want to see developer's profits protected when they make a big game. I hate seeing all those layoffs happen in the games industry. I know that they will likely happen even if certain policies take effect, but maybe there might be less of them if games ultimately profit for developers and publishers more. We always think it will never happen to the big developers, or the ones we really love, but I see a lot of worrying signs about the games industry, and as much as I hate to see it happen, the industry may have to change if it's going to survive and thrive over the long haul.
My most loved part of the games industry, the Japanese games industry, seems like it's slowly falling apart before my very eyes and I have a lot of serious concerns about that. I see accepting certain realities or inevitabilities as doing my part to preserve my favorite hobby. Maybe I'm wrong. And, trust me, I would be right there with everybody else in loving the decisions if somehow none of it was going to happen on either side. However, I just see this as definitely happening eventually, and if a more proactive and reasonable approach isn't arrived at sooner rather than later, we may dread the alternative later and practically start begging for one or more platform holders to do something to help balance things out. Could you imagine if each individual publisher and developer started crafting their own solutions as opposed to agreeing with and following the lead of one or more platform holders? I don't know about anyone else, but this prospect of developers/publishers taking matters into their own hands sure scares the crap out of me.
