just fyi "Story is set in an alternative universe where space travel has significantly advanced by 1986"
Thats cool i guess, but i still don't get the Alien films comparison, even the director said it is inspired by Akira and Cowboy Bebop, it has none of their character stylishness based on what we saw.

Thats because lets face it, no one gives a shit about Onimusha and ND is literally either the best or second best studio in the business after Rockstar.

People waited four long years to see a next gen only game from ND. They waited 11 years and two generations to see a new IP from ND. And all we got was a lame cutscene with one of the ugliest protagonist in recent memory, and graphics that arent blowing anyone away like they did back when they revealed Uncharted 4 for the first time.

Since when did people buy naughty dog games because they star pretty people lol

I mean Nathan drake isn't ugly but I thought those games were popular for immersive gameplay, storytelling, world building etc

But make the main mc a girl and it all of a sudden becomes about when I can play it with one hand or not.

Theres no shortage of games you're intended to get off too; ND has never been that

Yeah we didn't have the concept of hate bombing YouTube likes in 2011 and gender culture wars then. It was still a mixed bag reaction, that only turned to full blown hype with the gameplay reveals

Games set in space are derivative of Destiny?

The ship doesn’t remotely give off a “hot rod” vibe. You’re stretching a bit.

Ripley because she was also a female in space? For other recent female game protagonists, are you referring to Ellie, Alloy, Eve or Senua? They all seem pretty different to me but I guess they are all women… Again, stretching.

Or maybe 90% of space sci-fi movies in the 80s. Dirty future isn’t unique to GotG.

80s jackets aren’t unique to the handful of comics and the couple movies in the GotG series they appeared in.

Egregious? So one brand ok, two brands is a cardinal sin. And these brands are synonymous with the 80s.

80s music appeared in 1 GotG movie but I will concede that music in GotG was a central element to Star Lord.

Overall, you are really stretching.

I’m not stretching. The comparisons are obvious. Stop deep throating a video games developer.

The game may well end up being excellent, but this reveal was not.

Honestly, if this is the route Sony want to go down I'll sell my PS5 and not look back.

If they have to intentionally send people arcoss the internet in order to try and control/change narratives then it means they are no longer interested in listening to the feedback and concerns coming from their customers. We all know how that inevitably ends.
I admire Uncle Phil and his team for having more balls, at least they brazenly called out the "said little shit"

For the final trailer of the show, it was a pretty big letdown. Graphically the game looks good, but it feels like it's got no soul. Edgy semi-ugly man looking girlboss bounty-hunter (maybe?) doesn't listen to anyone and does her own thing no matter what....................just bleh. Not to mention Druckmann's involvement means I can't trust it not to be garbage. There were multiple better premiere trailers during the show, can't believe they put that one last.

So just because the main character is a female some of the brainless people here automatically start calling it woke, like what! Didn't we have female characters in the past?!
Bunch of fucking crybabies, you haven't even seen what the gameplay or what the story is all about
That is what it looks like and the main character looks like the actress who is playing her.

Yeah its not sane to write the game off now, too early to tell.
But i never was a big fan of Naughty Dog, their philosophy towards games don't interest me now, i guess i liked the first Last of Us when i played it in 2013, it was solid, but looking back, most of their games aged poorly to me, Uncharted in particular, most people praise it as some sort of masterpiece when i find it a generic action/adventure game with cookie cutter gameplay where you just cover shoot and kill endless amount of enemies using basic barebones shooting mechanics, and the puzzles and level design lack the challenge or actual inspired problem solving, i also find the story of 2 for example to be Michael Bay tier, yet its claimed as one of gaming greats, i know why, because Naughty Dog is excellent with presentation and making cutting edge animation and graphics and every gen their game is highly praised, as soon as tech evolves it starts to show its age. TLOU is their best work and im not too crazy about it, i found 2 to be a trainwreck and didn't innovative or have any creative game design as an alternative to its messy story, same story with Uncharted 4, great presentation and graphics but a one and done game for me, at least its better than 2.
So when i originally wrote my first comment here i expressed the same things, i doubt they will innovative anything, its probably going to be another presentation game, but we shall see, if they make something new i'm down to play it and even praise it if its great.

I mean people make fun and shit on Skyrim all the time, but compared to a game like Uncharted 2, its a fucking Citizen Kane.

I can't wait for the cope when the gameplay looks insane.

You can nitpick ubisofts janky shit to death, but that ain't gonna fly with Naughty Dog, people gonna have to get really creative to conjure up some crazy reasoning of why it looks bad.

Intergalactic is solid. The subtitle is stupid, and should've just been left off. It's a new IP, you don't need a subtitle guys.
I think Heretic Prophecy is a better name by itself. Don't like how it is now or even Intergalactic on its own.

We don't have a good enough "console" alternative so until we do PlayStation it is.

Cool, so how its the best?
It's as close to a perfect game as any game you could play perfect gameplay, visuals, sound design and story..this isn't exactly a hot take we are talking about a universally praised all time game and yes I know a lot got upset the roided girl had bigger arms then them or their favorite guy got murk'd 😏

Oh really? I find this design really beautiful. There's a passion / fire to her eyes that you just don't see in games these days

If you watch the trailer again, try looking at the character directly and you'll see what I'm talking about

10/10 character design and aesthetics, I am SO in love with the retrowave. Day one!!
There is that scene near the end of the trailer with her looking deep in space... and I can kinda see what you are talking about there.
So of course I am going to give it a chance.

It's just a bit unfortunate that this is a focus of yet another new release

54 pages and counting, and social media is fully mixed to negative on this. I'm not sure Sony or Naughty Dog were ready for the community to turn on their new IP right out the gate like this. The gameplay reveal will need to be something special to douse that fire; if it's just "Naughty Dog's The Surge", God help them.

I just appreciate you having a valid critique based on things you saw in the trailer, i respect it and i don't expect their games to be for everyone.

The aesthetic is not entirely new either, i love bebop, akira, and Alien vibes but they're not exactly things that are unique - it would have been amazing if they took inspiration from other forms of less popular alternate media.

I'm open to giving it a chance, it feels like its made for me but i can't say its gonna be a GOTY contender with just this. I have my reservations about it, ND isn't exactly known for interesting character designs, they're good at selling characters and personalities - which we didn't get here

Considering the quoted strap line for the game is ‘the last Concordian’ I certainly believe so. However the fact that people seem uncertain is seriously funny and probably an indication of just how far Neil is up his own arse.

Eh......says just as much about folks who are attributing words to him that he didn't say.

Is this a new requirement for a game not to be woke? I knew 9/10 or better hotness was required but what sort of personality do they need for it not to be woke? Just trying to keep up

I have never once used that word when expressing how I feel about this game. Or Outlaws.

I'm sure that being a ND game has the highest production values. But I can't dig what they showed.
That's where I'm at. I need to see more. I'm not getting into the politics of the character design and all that. The production values are gonna be top notch because its Naughy Dog, but I feel like carrying that name is doing alot of the heavy lifting for the amount of attention it's getting, good or bad. Nothing shown has me screaming ' DAY ZERO!' like I've seen expressed in some corners, beyond what feels like pre-programmed responses due to the developer's pedigree.

It looks a lot like Alien, Star Wars, Interstellar, Marvel, and so on, because if you ask game artists for a science fiction themed game they will make it look like that even if you start hitting them with shovels to the head telling them not to.

Given the comments were left open on every other official posting, it reads to me that Naughty Dog expected they'd get hate on their own channel, but they were expecting gamers to react positively elsewhere - otherwise they'd have disabled comments on all official PlayStation uploads from the get go too. Like I said, the gameplay reveal will need to be something special, otherwise I can see this stench sticking around.

Yep, I don't think you can even say that it's a loud minority at this point. Pretty much all the sites I visit are clowning on this game, and if Concord or DA:VG are anything to go by, then this does not bode well for the game.

But hey, like you said, if the gameplay reveal really blows people away then maybe they can salvage this initial impression.

It's Druckmann, I'm fully expecting wokeness.

But for the love of God......please dont go overboard with it.
I actually want it to be woke as fuck. I want gay shit left and right. I want POC everywhere and one token white dude LOL I want dudes heads to explode.

I've spent my entire lifetime gaming and I've always been a masculine, gruff, sexy white man. For decades if I wanted anything different I had to play a sports game LOL so just enjoy this momentary pause in our "usual" programing... shit Warhammer 40k just recently released, there is enough muscular manliness in that game for 5 whole games LOL

But FR FR... it's Naughty Dog. Production value will be through the roof. Acting and Story telling will be top notch, most likely. Graphics gonna melt yo eyes.... and there's going be some shit in here and some ppl ain't gonna like, that's just the way it is. Story tellers are gonna tell the stories they want to tell. He has a message, a lesson, a something he wants to put out there... just like ever creative person, writer, actor has in the past. You may not agree with all of it, but sometimes you gotta take a good with the "bad" You don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I don't think Druckman will be sending out the same "message/lesson" as TLOU2... I think he's going something more personal. Something that has parallels to his background. It may be a story about a space bounty hunter, but he'll figure out a way to work it in there.

It's too early too write it off as woke trash . The game could be amazing mechanically and have a great narrative .

Returnal has the same garbage flung at it and it has top tier gameplay.

Unless the game has trans diaries or ramming woke ideology in our face.
