Ding ding ding - bingo !
I said it before but :
The 80s nostalgia thing is already long in the tooth, Drive kind of kick-started the whole thing with Kavinsky's tunes which in turn spawned a whole renaissance in faux 80s music (Retrowave) with artists like MPM, Perturbator, Christine, Dance with the dead, Laserhawk, Miami nights and about a myriad of other artists.
Then came Stranger things and a bunch of other shit and then, we also had guardians of the Galaxy during the whole marvel craze.
Here's the thing though : It's incredibly banal, tired and cliche by today's standards, so much so that the game's trailer could be part of a side story in the guardians of the Galaxy, everything, and I do mean everything in that trailer looks so played out in a "wink wink Herp derp" way that's not even funny...
It's like the devs thought "Hey look, we have Porsche, Adidas, a handler with an eye patch and pet shop boys' "it's a sin", HOW KEWL AND 80s IS THAT ?"
It's completely played to death and tone-deaf to the point that It made me think how the hell did they ever think that this whole concept was anything "original" (it isn't).
This literally feels and looks like they've been late to the proverbial party by a good 10 years or so and
I felt fuck and all by watching it, then again I'm not the biggest ND fan (I do loved the last of us 2 purely from a game play and tech perspective though).
