You really "NEED" this game to fail don't you? 😂😂

Nobody said 6 million lifetime. But I can sense the fear in you.
Im not the one downgrading this game to sub Days Gone level of sales two/three years before its release mate and trying to start the trend that ND games now are expected to sell only 6 mil in a year to be a success for Sony. If this is not fear .. what is ... lol ...

In fact I really hope this game sells only 6mil in one whole year ... huge succes im sure.... lol.

Looks to me like the red energy might be able to turn into different weapons. Very gamey (which works). Could morph into an axe, whip, scythe, chainsaw. There is a trigger on it.
It does look like a weapon that is more than just a laser sword.
It's a big comb, mark my words.

If its made of light or energy then that should mean the weapon is pretty weightless yet it requires a robot to have double arm support to lift the DBA.

I think it needs to stay as it is, the blade guard runs down one side completely which would stop it burning carrying across the shoulder like she does. If it didn't then you'd just retract it as per light saber etc. Reminds me a bit of Selene's sword except the stylisation.

Are physics like this possible to be in-game? Hard to believe water would react this perfectly in-game to me.

I wonder if you showed the DriveClub rain windshield to some brainrotted zoomer he would tell you that it is impossible in-game.

Devs just don't do this because the Unreal Engine can't do it. That said, there really isn't a whole lot going on in that scene other than the water.

Is the main character the only thing turning you all off to this game? If it was a cute Asian girl, or a stereotypical "dudebro" type, would you be excited for it?

No, for me it's not the main character - or rather, it's not her appearance. It's her personality and attitude, combined with her dialog. It's just so damn cliche, so predictable.

Many of us have made this point, but it tends to get swallowed up by discussions about her looks.

I'm .. actually... Excited...

Looks like the most interesting Thing ND did a long time. Also Huge Akira and Sci-Fi fan. I couldn't care less if the Main character is a female, again I'm not a pussy. I've seen the usual suspects scream "Woke" the moment it shows an individual with a vagina. I don't know much about it at the moment other than it being sci fi, akira inspired and lead being a Female, so I'll see if the "wokeness" will actually affect my enjoyment of it.

Ding ding ding - bingo !

I said it before but :
The 80s nostalgia thing is already long in the tooth, Drive kind of kick-started the whole thing with Kavinsky's tunes which in turn spawned a whole renaissance in faux 80s music (Retrowave) with artists like MPM, Perturbator, Christine, Dance with the dead, Laserhawk, Miami nights and about a myriad of other artists.
Then came Stranger things and a bunch of other shit and then, we also had guardians of the Galaxy during the whole marvel craze.

Here's the thing though : It's incredibly banal, tired and cliche by today's standards, so much so that the game's trailer could be part of a side story in the guardians of the Galaxy, everything, and I do mean everything in that trailer looks so played out in a "wink wink Herp derp" way that's not even funny...
It's like the devs thought "Hey look, we have Porsche, Adidas, a handler with an eye patch and pet shop boys' "it's a sin", HOW KEWL AND 80s IS THAT ?"
It's completely played to death and tone-deaf to the point that It made me think how the hell did they ever think that this whole concept was anything "original" (it isn't).
This literally feels and looks like they've been late to the proverbial party by a good 10 years or so and
I felt fuck and all by watching it, then again I'm not the biggest ND fan (I do loved the last of us 2 purely from a game play and tech perspective though).

Just watched the trailer for the 3rd time. (Re-rewatch)

Trying to be positive.

1. Bald ugly chinese thick eye brows smelly bossy lesbian doesn't really bother me that much to be honest.

2. Perhaps Tony Dalton (which I think it's a super COOL actor) makes up for the bossy attitude and uglyness of the main character (which really, it's not that big of a deal)

3. Dialogue sucks.

4. The 80s synthwave sci fi vhs style still feels forced and out of place. I don't think they would really pull that style off. This comes from the biggest 80s nerd culture nerd on earth, which is me.
I should be incredibly hyped up about it, I love my retro clothing (adidas, nike, puma, nb, whatever) I don't have enough rooms in my house for my vhs, cassettes, Betamax, compact discs, vinyls, you name it collection both media and hardware.
And the amount of digital music back ups I collected through the past 25 years or something trying to dig very very deep on the internet to find 80s pop, rock, disco and whatever 80s music genre I've got hooked on.
Retro gaming and anime? Well, don't even get me started.
It just feels out of place.
Pet shop boys? Top of the line song, it just doesn't work here.

5. Graphically looks very very clean, could be a total stunner. We'll see.

They're two decades late.

Kavinsky my ass. You‘d have a point if the soundtrack wasn‘t made by Trent Fucking Reznor.

Spot on. People aren't sick of female protagonists. Or black protagonists. They're sick of the SAME female black protagonist. My eyes rolled so far back in my head they nearly fell out when she started coming out with the same girl boss dialogue. She's coded to be the girl boss too, in the way she looks and acts.

Come on, Druckmann. There are other character tropes you could have employed. Women aren't all the same. Why go back to that same thing again?

This is exactly the same shit as the endless dudebro, buzzcut white dudes from 00s games. Only we didn't have RACIST screamed at us then when we all pointed out how tired that trope was as well.

Maybe awards mean something to you. They mean nothing to me. If you enjoyed the game, I'm happy for you. I didn't enjoy it and don't share your opinion. TLOU1 was significantly better in my opinion. As to whether it's a milestone or not, you certainly don't get to decide what is a milestone for others lol.
You can’t deny TLOU 2 was a milestone in graphics, sound, animations and presentation. Even if you didn’t like the story you can’t deny other aspects…

If you're thinking 'fluid sim' - possibly, but it's a tradeoff that AAAs 'usually' don't like (dedicating a lot to a single system simulation). Nor is simulation in general a big focus for most games - we've had more interesting interactivity in late 00s than we do in early 20s.

But the shot doesn't look like anything that would strictly have to be full fluid-sim - particle emitters can do the visual we see in the video just fine.

Why would you say that is? Is it the move to x86 architecture?

I knew that someone would go "AcKtually"...

What does Kavinsky have to do with Reznor doing the OST for Heretic ?
I was referring to how Drive kick-started the whole 80s "craze" back then and the fact that - at least for the trailer - Heretic looks like a "wink* look at all this 80s shit *wink" which - again - is not a novelty anymore.

Besides, like Saturn Dragon Saturn Dragon dragon said, at least for us geeks, Vice city kick-started the same thing for games 20 years ago.

My comment had purely to do with the more..."commercial" 80s perception, cause while you and I may know and have played VC, my aunt in her mid 60s surely hasn't (but has watched both Drive, Super 8 and Stranger things).

So, again, what does the fact of Drive having some Kavinsky have to do with Reznor doing the OST for Heretic ? 😉

I don't think it's hardware related - not directly anyway.
Online proliferation is part of it - games with an online focus are forced to make concessions by default, which leads to game design focused on the same capsule mechanics we've been doing for the past 30 years and not much else.
The other element is that R&D costs continue to escalate, and money is funneled into areas where returns are well understood. And there, graphics haven't been slowing down, they're getting more expensive every year. Ie. until someone can show simulation & interactivity as 'the selling point' - the big budgets will continue going into skin-shaders and the like.

I hope ND doesn't copy the Souls Like combat approach btw. Most don't work and would never come close to From Games anyway. Thank God it at least looks like it has Melee and Gun Combat, in which ND excels greatly(meaning gun combat). I'm also hoping for metroidvania level design approach in exploring the Worlds(Planets?), basically Returnal but without the Roguelike aspect that IMO held it back from masterpiece status.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make by splitting the first party studio vs. parent company hair. The parent company is responsible for the games they help develop and publish. But that's completely unrelated.

I'm not saying the Intergalactic trailer gave me Concord vibes because they're both Sony first party. If the Intergalactic trailer were being made by a Microsoft studio, I'd still say it gave me Concord vibes for looking like a really expensive, really confident trailer that is completely missing the mark.

Because we understand it's different from an in house 1st party dev making a game and the Concord devs that they bought just 1 year ago.

That sucks. Thanks for the explanation.

Yep. I've always said that the '80s is the greatest decade, and the fact that even people who weren't around to be part of it are obsessed with it is a testament to how unique and special it was. But when people do things like this it rarely feels natural, it's like a dimly-remembered, flanderized fever dream version of the '80s.

I'm still gonna check the game out though.

Are you talking about the in game model or the actual actresses?
Both? Same person and very close.

Would I prefer a chick with hair? Sure. Or a male lead? Yep.

But people are screaming like the sky is falling. We haven’t even seen gameplay lol. Or what this game is.

I suspect it’ll be some agenda driven nonsense but play great.

theres more pages on this shit than fucking GTA6 and 50% of the posts here are about a supposed woke agenda over a bald space lady.
again this is why im left and dont participate much in this culture war grifter shit. you dont lose your mind over petty first world problems like this stuff. you just evaluate if the game is good or not & choose to play depending on if it fits your tastes or not.

returnal's MC wasnt conventionally attractive but the game's still nutty. im sure to ND fans this will be the same too.
if you want pretty women, why not read a visual novel? Kimi ga nozomu eien has a lot of them- and a heartbreaking story to boot

again- y'all have lost the damn plot

i subconsciously registered this when I watched the trailer, but once someone pointed out the color palette, I was like:
shit, that’s right

scary shit.
lol right, every single pixel of this game is in there by design, whether or not that is the intent is an open question but it's not like those color choices just landed in there from a random generator
This must be a coordinated Discord shitposting effort, right?
