Lebron.

Getting Thompson signed was really stupid. He can only do one thing. Cavs really need a rim protector and perimeter defender. Either Love or Thompson has to go but I doubt anyone wants Thompson without getting someone else.

Cavs to go after BisGOAT Biyombo in the offseason?

Ok and okc choked away game six, so steph doesn't deserve this one when they win? Dumb narrative is dumb.
PLUS, OKC choked that Feb 27th game in epic fashion! GSW doesn't deserve 73 wins either!!!!!

Klay and Curry scored 20 combined yet had this type of impact on offense..

To me that's a combination of gravity and bad coaching / mental lapses. Look at JR Smith. (and yeah, he's gonna do JR Smith things) He's the last line of defense and he tags along to shadow Klay when there's no way he could contest any shot on Klay because his own teammate (Love) is in between him and Klay.

Also, cross-matching can be confusing for even the sharpest team defenders. It's gonna be more of a problem for these Cavs.

Funny you mention that. Reminded me that we saw DraymondSon get away with another cheap Karate Kid kick last night.

It's weird last series that it wasn't a big deal in the media that any strip on Russ resulted in a crazy non-basketball motion of a kickout (example).

it wasn't. they are WAY over the cap, which means you get TT or nothing since you can only sign players while over the cap if you have their bird rights.

their salary is, even with the cap increasing, locked up for the next 3-4 years (depending what deal LeBron gets). their two options were TT or nothing and considering that, TT looks a bit better. the only one this costs anything is Dan Gilbert since he has to pay the tax, don't hurt CLE a damn thing and holy shit can you imagine the shitstorm if they let him walk for nothing and they lost that finals? i mean they will anyway but different universe people don't know that.

Just wait till LeBron walks and Cleveland is stuck paying Tristan Thompson star money till 2020.

I still can't believe they

1) got the #1 overall pick and fucked it up with Bennett
2) got a fucking do over and got Wiggins
3) flipped Wiggins for Kevin Fucking Love (which is even more fuckery now considering they have Frye now)
4) damn near max dealed Tristan Thompson

Doc's bench last year was Big Baby, 35 yo Hedo Turkoglu, Spencer Hawes, Ekpe Udoh, Jordan Farmar, and Doc's own son.

Arguably the second worst GM in the conference after Sacramento.

HEY

THAT GM JUST GOT RONDO A HUGE CONTRACT ELSEWHERE, THAT MAN'S A GENIUS

unless they're gonna resign him

I understand that this list lacks context and benefits from hindsight bias, but all that shit looks terrible when you see it laid out in one place. Just some short-sighted incompetence mixed with plain bad luck.

Spike Lee on First Take: "I'm not like these old heads, I love the Golden State Warriors. They've revolutionized the game and I've never seen basketball like this before in my life."

Truth! Well said Spike.

Most people said in the moment trading Wiggins for Love (who was gonna be a free agent the following year) was asinine. No hindsight needed.

if they didn't pay, he'll walk for sure.
I know they desperately need the guy in town and all, but there comes a point where you have to put your foot down. Giving Tristan Thompson that kind of money was that point.

The one bit of leverage management has on LeBron is that it'd be a huge blow to his legacy to leave Cleveland again without a championship. You gotta use that and call his bluff when he demands you do some dumb shit like that deal. Especially when you know that he can and will walk anyway if things don't work. Dude signs 1 year extensions with player option just to keep them bent over.

Warriors playoff record in the last two years:

Games 1-4:

19-11

Games 5-7:

10-0

If you don't get them early, you're not getting them.

Yeah, you basically have to sweep them to win, and that's not happening. Even going up 3-1 isn't enough, granted OKC sure helped them a bit by choking at the end of game 6.

Well, they could have drafted Steven Adams over Anthony Bennett. Or, you know, any NBA player in the #1 spot.
Lol come on man, like obviously there were better players taken in the draft but don't be ridiculous. Adams went 12th and was seen by everyone as a project. That draft was a complete shit show you can't fault the Cavs for picking one of the many busts.

Thought this was funny with that picture one of you guys have been posting.

Carl Steward: After writing about Klay Thompson’s low-scoring output last year, he tapped me on the shoulder and said, `Another 9-point game and we won.” 7 hours ago – via Twitter stewardsfolly

Also, if I were the Cavs. I would've maxed Thompson too. No cap space to play with already. Unless I was able to get the corpse of David West.

First "draft" =/= aquire

Second, lol. Like anyone would have taken Adams at 1. Sure, captain hindsight.

Acquire works for any way to get a player (draft, trade, sign). And Bennett is the worst first overall pick ever. Out of the league in two years. If they had tried to acquire two-way players, they'd be in much better shape than they are now. It's hard to win against good teams when all but two or three players are useless on one side of the court.

shhhhhhh, Cav's fan believe Frye and Jefferson can still play ....notice how quick Frye was yanked last night?!?!? LOL

We noticed. Hell, we didn't pull him. Most I know were bitching Lue didn't stay with that lineup long enough. Hell, they didn't stay with it to even give it a chance.

I do, but I don't bandwagon off from teams I grew up rooting for just because the local one starts doing well. ;P

I like you. Now if only all ex-sacramento ex-los angeles residents thought like you. My two closest coworkers are ex-sacramento and ex-la residents rooting for Kings and Lakers. They're both now "die-hard" GS fans. Sigh

LoL just getting to the LeBatard show today

I love how Stugotz trying to get out of the bet cause LeBron and the Cavs lost.

If they had somehow won all he would be talking about today is the bet. LoL

Kyrie -- I would have drafted Kyrie. You can hide one bad defensive player.
Thompson -- Valančiūnas, Klay, Markieff Morris, Kawhi, Jimmy Butler were all available.
Love -- Batum was available or they could have kept Wiggins
Anthony Bennett -- Steven Adams, Giannis, Oladipo, and others were available

As far as trades or signings

David West was available
Tobias Harris was available (Cavs are super old right now. That's not helping)
Westley Matthews was available (could have sign and trade with Love)
Crowder was available

The list goes on and on and on....

There are tons of players who they could have signed in the last five or six years, but they scouted poorly. It's not like two-way players are incredibly rare. The Cavs don't need someone like Paul George who is great on both sides of the court, they just need players who aren't total liabilities on one end. It's alright having one or two minuses but only JR, LeBron, and maybe Delly are effective on both ends. That's not how you build a championship team.

What about Noel? Noel is going to be a great defensive player for a long, long time.

I haven't watched a Sixers game since the tanking began. Is he alright on offense? The Cavs need two-way player desperately, not another guy who sucks on one side of the court. Though I imagine he's better than Thompson who is just a lousy offensive player. Even his offensive rebounds go to waste considering how awful he is at scoring on put backs.

Noel averaged 11/8 this year, while Thompson averaged 8/9.

Noel needs a jump shot but he isn't terrible and is pretty good around the rim. I think he can be a solid 15/10 player when the 6ers stop embracing the tank.

some of these are just so ridiculous. didn't jimmy butler go at the end of the first round? like ok they made some mistakes but you can't just go and point at these projects that panned out and say "look! they could have had a team with x y and z if they were smarter!".

when they made these picks they weren't building a team for Lebron, they were getting guys who they thought had the potential to work well together. obviously most of their decisions didn't pan out though.

It's crazy how close Golden State came to trading Klay Thompson for Kevin Love during the K.Love sweepstakes a few years ago. Man did they dodge a bullet xD

Took a quick glance at the 2013 draft and man was that a weak draft. There really wasn't a sure pick for #1 but who the hell was Anthony Bennett lol.

Cavs couldn't go Olaladipo, they had Kyrie and Waiters at the time. I might've taken a chance in Otto Porter.

Yeah there really isn't very many people to pick in the draft at that top spot.

Yeah, in hindsight we can pick now but Giannis was such a wild card at the time.
