Having read all 11/12 Gaunt's Ghosts novels I can assure you that you have made an excellent purchase with that.

Also just bought the Eisenhorn trilogy myself.

Ah, well Eisenorn is an excellent purchase too :D.

And there's 11 GG novels right? 'Only in Death' being the last one?

Eh, the burger at F.O. is pretty good but for $12, I would rather they let me SPECIFY HOW I WANT IT. The blue cheese and onion compote overwhelms the taste of the meat, which is kind of a waste IMO. They asked me how I wanted the meat done and I said "medium rare" and when it came out, it was medium well. =(

But I have to give it to them. Their sweet potato fries and shoe string fries are DELICIOUS. I can never stop eating them.

edit: Was this the SM Father's Office, or the new one in Culver City?

What is the full name of the restaurant? What's the story on this place? Never seen a burger that looks like that.

I've personally never been to the place. Perhaps on my next visit to L.A.

It's a bar/restaurant called Father's Office. There's one in Santa Monica and a new one in Culver City. The place is known for their wide selection of beers as well as a pretty good burger. The only catch is that you can't make ANY modifications to the burger. Allergic to cheese? Too bad. Want ketchup on it? Too bad, there's no ketchup at all in the restaurant. People have had to smuggle in packets of kethcup.

The burger itself is served on a roll instead of the usual burger bun. The meat is tasty and accompanied by spinach (instead of lettuce) and this blue-cheese and onion gratin which is good, but I think overpowers the meat.

Oh yeah and it's $12.

Finally found a Wii at Target. Picked it up Sunday morning while on my way to my college graduation.

RE4 + Zack and Wiki for 50 bucks is a steal.

Friend Code is in my profile, although the Wii is supposed to be for my girlfriend.

Well played, sir.

Well played. :D

It was her birthday gift. I gave it to her 3 months early...

BTW, Zack and Wiki is exactly what the Wii should be about.

This month's giveaway. Master sword replica. You have till the end of the week.
Guess my two of my favorite music videos. To make it easier, both are from the 90s. None are recent.

Hey everyone. my first post in the "pickup" thread. I always like browsing these.

GTA IV, of course, plus some new BRD discs. The video on the Springsteen concert is horrible, but the actual music is amazing.

A couple books, as well. i picked them up after relistening to some old episodes of Radio Lab. There's some interesting stuff in there

I got my hands on a Famicom edition game boy micro on eBay. The thing is really nice to hold and the screen is nice, even if it's small. Right now, it's just an FFV and FFVI machine, but I might pick up a few more games for it soon.

Another nice pickup were the headphones. Audio Technica ATH-ANC7s. noise cancelling units. they're a revelation. I've been re-listening to lots of my favorite albums and picking up bits that I've never heard before. Well worth the money (about 150 CDN - pretty decent)

Age of Conan, I Am Legend, Total Recall, Alien vs. Predator, Spiderman 3, enV2 phone and Onkyo TX-SR 605.

The BRs were only $30 total (Buy 2, Get 2 free at work), Conan was in store credit from Employee credit bonus weekend (ended up with $230 credit), phone was free and the Onkyo was $318.

Sadly, the month isn't over yet as my PC parts and Mass Effect PC are still to come.

SuperJ,

How are the loading times on the SNK disc? Does it just load before each entire game or is their actual loading between levels. Almost got it on Friday but wimped out.

*great pick-up on Banjo, I (almost) like it as much as Mario 64.

I'd say it takes anywhere from 10-15 seconds to load a game (60GB PS3). I haven't noticed any load times between levels, but to be honest I've only thoroughly played Magician Lord and Baseball Stars 2. Regardless, I highly recommend this compilation to any SNK/Neo fans out there. I especially like the medal/unlockables system they included.

Zunes are the new hotness.

y'know, I laughed at the first gen zune when it came out but I think MS did a pretty decent job addressing the issues with the 2nd gen models. I'm in Canada and the zunes are not in stores yet, but I'm actually interested in seeing one in person, if only to check out how the touchpad works and how the interface is laid out.

I hope that Apple will adopt a larger screen on their classic iPod models to try to match the Zune. it really does look hot.

Ok, long time lurker here, first post.

The requisite late April pickups plus Stranglehold, Jeanne D'Arc and Dirge of Cerberus. I'm sure the last one sucks, but the obsessive collector in me loves FF games. Plus it was $4 sealed. Gotta love Toys R Us clearances.

2509780679_42e4dbd654.jpg

Craigslist pickup, $100 total. Working PS1 with action replay, FFVII/VIII/IX (all non-Greatest Hits, all complete except FFVII missing the manual), FF Tactics (disc only), Xenogears, Suikoden 1 & 2 (both missing instructions), Chrono Cross, Grandia, and a few guides. Funny story that goes along with this: I'm currently working on my PhD and I teach an undergrad course. Come to find out, the seller was one of my students, who I didn't recognize because, by his own admission, he never comes to class. However, since I pretty much had all of these other than Grandia, to eBay it went. The resulting profit mostly paid for:
2510614054_f5ce22cb74.jpg

60 Gig PS3. I was planning on picking one up soon, and since I could get full backward compatibility on this one, I jumped on it. It was a Gamestop refurb, so I'm crossing my fingers that nothing goes wrong. Immediately went to a different Gamestop and took advantage of the then-active B2G1 used sale, and tossed in a new GT5P for good measure.

2510614266_d491ea75e4.jpg

Have to have some some Blu Rays to try it out. The Kubrick discs were picked up just today, thanks to a 40% coupon.

2509780885_ceb303c73a.jpg

Finally, a Dualshock 3 and Def Jam Icon (it's pretty awful, but for $7, it's a fun awful) plus some music: Goldfrapp's Seventh Tree (Deluxe), Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss, Leonard Cohen's Songs of Leonard Cohen, (Sunn) O))) Presents Pentemple, and the new reissues of Current 93's Dogs Blood Rising and Nature Unveiled.

No wonder I'm always broke ;)
