I dont see it with the Cowboys. They are also switching D's, and to one that most people seem to think time has passed by, and all the shit with the HC. I think this is the year they hit bottom and Jerry brings in real football people next year to run things.
I actually think the Cowboys could do well with the new defense. They've got Sean Lee back, who is pretty much the perfect Tampa 2 linebacker. D-Ware and Spencer on the outsides and the somewhat smaller Ratliff at tackle is a pretty solid front line.

As for the coach, yea, I'm not convinced by him at all and am surprised he's there. He cant seem to get that offense to stop making mistakes and that's a coaching problem.

They were a win away from doing it last year, so I wouldn't write them off.

Yahoo! Shutdown Corner's NFL Preview Week: 10 bold predictions for the 2013 season

Cam Newton will win the MVP award
Fine, I’m not technically picking him to win, but of all the long shots (Newton is 25-1 odds to win MVP on Sportsbook.com), he has by far the best chance. He’s going to have a great year.

...

The Saints won’t finish above .500
Getting Sean Payton back is a nice boost. It doesn’t help the defense. Drew Brees is great, but he was great last year and the Saints were 7-9. The defense needs an enormous improvement to be mediocre. With some defensive injuries already, it just isn't going to happen.

You shouldn't talk out of your ass. Arguably the best front 7 in the league. You'll see when they smother Wussle's midget ass into the turf.
I don't think cdyhybrid actually realizes that teams exist outside of the NFC West. I'm also pretty sure he thinks the Niners won the SB last season.

I'm just going with what I saw on the field. I think the Panthers' front 7 is pretty good, but I'd take the Niners' front 7 over theirs every time. Now, in a few years when age and roid-induced-ligament-deterioration start to hit the Niners, we can have a discussion.

Nah, Niners have the best front 7.

Which is why I said arguably. I wouldn't put them #1 right now, but they are definitely top 5 IMO and when all is said and done, if healthy, I wouldn't be surprised if they are the best.

Rod Graves always came across to me as the Carol Bartz of the NFL.

He was always in an article for being ground breaking and influential despite never really doing a good job.

As nice as it is to have a great defense, if the offense is good enough, you can still get far. Wouldn't rule out the Saints, either.

Brees and the Saints had the 9th best offense in the league according to FBO last year and they still went 7-9. I don't think just getting Payton back is going to help them improve by 3+ games. Going from Gregg Williams 3-4 to Spagnulo's 4-3 to Rob Ryan's 3-4 isn't doing the defense any favors either. Personally, I think Rob Ryan is severely overrated - his defenses, save for one year in Oakland, have historically been mediocre at best:

Our D did fuck all in the 3-4 only thing that gave us was Ware getting close to breaking the all time sack record. I never liked the switch to the 3-4 hell even when they made the switch they were still rotating between 3-4 and 4-3 fronts so its not a total reworking. I will agree if Garrett screws this season up he's gone I'm just glad he isn't play calling anymore.

.@DeAngeloRB on Steve Smith's comments on Chudzinski: "Chud's in Cleveland and we're going to leave him there."

More @DeAngeloRB: Those are my comments about Chud. I no longer have to deal with that. He’s somebody’s elses problem or solution.

Tell us how you really feel DeAngelo...

Thanks bros. captive, I'm a software developer. My company is doing another round of layoffs after doing one earlier in the year. We all thought it was done already. Shitty part is that I just got home from PAX yesterday, and today was my first day back in the office.

You're in Boston right? I have a buddy at Nokia (I know I know), I could ask him if they're hiring if you're a web developer. I think they use Java.

So before Cooper's injury, I had us the surprise team of the season and having an outside shot at a wildcard. With our OL back to shit, I have no idea and am genuinely curious to see how Palmer handles it. That's why I'm glad we're playing the Lambs as they shredded our OL for 9 fucking sacks on Kolb last season. Granted, we were using Batiste still at the time and as much as Brown sucks, he isn't THAT bad. This should be an interesting test.

Ian Rappaport floated the idea of the Bills trading S Jairus Byrd to the Eagles. Makes sense, considering the Eagles' need at safety and the Chip Kelly connection. If Buffalo is willing, I'd consider that an absolute no-brainer for the Eagles.

Man I am still so pissed that the Eagles traded the pick to Dallas that they used to get Lee. We basically traded him for Clay Harbor. smfh.

I just want to see the Broncos get crushed tonight. That will keep me happy until Sunday when I expect Andy Reid and Alex Smith to show me that they have not been hyping up another 2-14 team. But for me, a Broncos loss is the most important thing that must happen this week in football.

Before he signed with the Bills they were talking on Eagles Live that the Eagles had inquired about him but that the Bills didnt want to trade him. I would love for them to do that. Safety is a major weakness for them. Chung and Nate Allen are the starters.

Even if the Broncos lose tonight, you are still stuck with Little Hands and the washed up Kool-Aid man!

Jesus in 2 months i'll be here 6 years. Never been on a forum that long

...this is my 10th year.

I still remember that Week 2 Thread in '03 when I picked the Panthers to upset the defending SB Champion Bucs and got laughed at by DMczaf and others, then we blocked like 3-4 kicks (including the potential game-winning PAT) in that game and won in OT 12-9...'03 Carolina was a magical team.

Eagles are like the Giants in that they value LB's little, and only get better ones either via trade or FA.

In the past 13 years, the Giants got guys like Mike Barrow, Carlos Emmons, Antonio Pierce, Kawika Mitchell, Michael Boley, Keith Bulluck, Keith Rivers, and now Dan Connor. Barrow was very solid for a few years, and Pierce hung on a while before becoming basically a defensive coach for Spags. Boley had two good seasons. But uh, other than that, it's just scraping the barrel for low tier LB's that's been both Reese and Accorsi's way (getting early picks on OL is similar).

NFC East isn't very good now and that's because of terrible defensive play throughout. Which is the complete opposite of what they've been throughout the past decade. Dallas has some good pieces, like the other team's do, but they lack decent Safeties and need DT help.

Gonna double those sacks Sunday! 18 sacks!

The problem with the Eagles not valuing LB's is the also were obsessed with under sized DE's. A small DL and bad LB's is a bad combo.
