So the only places to buy the Rift are from Best Buy and Oculus directly correct?

amazon page has it at the msrp, finally, despite being out of stock. i take it to mean you can get it there soon.
Looking at mounting my sensor to get better range, has anyone here done anything like that?
Reading lots on Reddit about different strategies people have used, including this 3rd printed mount:

Anyone have any advices on getting PSMove work with cv1? I can't get the tracking work with the headset.
So now that all the excitement of launch has died down.. is the oculus worth it? Thinking about snagging one soon, but not really sure if there are games to support it.

Worth it. My kids can't get enough. I have been slowly moving through my library for a month now. Every experience is completely different so far. Stand outs to me are, VR time machine, The Climb, Edge of Nowhere, and all the freebie experiences are absolutely worth checking out.So now that all the excitement of launch has died down.. is the oculus worth it? Find someone local who has one or best buy trial/whatever, it's up to the individual. I did the KS for DK1, bought a DK2, and got a free CV, I play Project Cars regularly in CV1 and it's brilliant, my favourite is Euro Truck Sim or American Truck Sim, however I have such a steam backlog that I need to mix my time. It's a large outlay on something you may not like or have much gaming time vs backlog, so try before you buy.So now that all the excitement of launch has died down.. is the oculus worth it? Silly question... I have a g sync monitor plugged in via the display port.. when my Rift arrives do I keep this in and just plug the Rift into my HDMI port on back of PC?
What do people that have HDMI monitors do?
I'm going to try they too.
I read on reddit that's the best way to go

Great thanks, hope this works!
Tested. Works perfectly.
Oh man. It took me all night to set everything up... but it's real guys. This shit is real.
Oh man.
And lucky's tale seems pretty fun. I'm a suckered for 3D platformers though
Great news thanks, mine arrives on Monday! Why did it take so long?
What other games have you tried?
Excited!!
I got a brand new pc. Had it set that up first.
The actual rift didn't take long at all. Very VERY easy actually.
Thanks for the responses y'all. Going to go to a near by best buy and test it out for myself! Also going to be a child and ask for it for my birthday
My first impression.
Keep in mind, it was around 11 PM last night when I finally got my system all set up.
1 - Installation is surprisingly easy. I was expecting this to be a pain in the ass. It's not. I think it was harder setting up my Wii for the first time than it was setting this up. The instructions are very clear and elegant. Good work Oculus.
2 - VR is real. You really do disappear into the world. The effect is instantaneous. This is going to be dangerous. People who are already anti-social WILL disappear from this world.
3 - The only game I own right now is Lucky's Tale. I'm planning on getting Edge of Nowhere soon too. For me, the "wow" moment was the first time I had Lucky move towards me (I was going to say the screen... but that isn't exacty the right way of putting it. As the camera moved backwards, I felt like I was actually sliding. It was concerning at first. I had to talk myself out of it.
Cons:
1- Still trying to find the proper adjustment. I wear glasses. It can become kind of blurry if it's not situated right. Maybe I should look into contacts lololol
2 - I played with this for about an hour last night. After I was done, I removed the head set and felt slightly disoriented. Not nauseous or anything. But it's weird going from a hyper stylized world back to a real world. Has anyone else experienced this?
As fate would have it, today I'm leaving on a three day camping trip with my parents and nephew. Going to be a long. LONG weekend.
But I'm going to try to get in a good hour or so of VR before that happens.

I think the Rift will be my first VR device. Anything I should know? Like accessories, versions of the Rift, and whatnot? OT seems pretty comprehensive, but just making sure nothing has changed.
I looked at the Vive and it looked a bit more complex to set up, so I think the Rift looks like a good starting point to try VR out for real.
Just make sure your PC is up to the task. Otherwise it's pretty much plug and play. Glasses suck with it and the VR Lens lab inserts are OK.
Other than the PC to spec (including a couple free USB3 ports), just follow the instructions in the box and download a bunch of demos, start with Dreamdeck, stationary experiences and then sample the more intense stuff. See what games on Steam you may have that have VR options before buying any of the intense stuff on Home, but I prefer to buy, launch, and play from Oculus Home over Steam. Just preference though.
There are few games like Blazerush, Lucky's Tale, and Chronos that are great. Elite Dangerous if that's your thing.
Above all, keep your expectations in check, don't expect too much and you'll have a paradigm shift in your opinion of gaming, but expect "Sci fi level" VR like the Matrix and you'll be a bit let down.
Thanks for this! Is Oculus better than PSVR (if you've tried it)? I tried PSVR at Best Buy and it was awesome, so if it's just as good as that, then I'll be content.
The Oculus Rift is a more expensive and higher quality headset from all accounts. The PSVR does have some advantages, such as superior comfort when wearing it, but the quality of the experience itself should be far superior on the Rift (and the Vive, for that matter), at least as long as you've got a decent PC.
I am assuming it is possible to play my emulators via the Rift, what is the best way? Is it a good experience?
Launching the emu via Virtual Desktop?
I mean for like SNES, Genesis, etc
From what I understand, the Rift is less comfortable than the PSVR.Is the Rift uncomfortable to wear, or is it just not as comfortable as PSVR? One of the things I did notice was just how comfortable the headset was.

I do not find the Rift to be the most comfortable thing being honest.

And I'm about to buy it, so is this it and not one of the earlier versions? There only seems to be one version, but I heard Amazon was out of stock so I want to make sure I'm buying the most recent one -- the one available at Best Buy and Oculus:
