gotta love fox news front page graphics. Obama does need to stop calling things bumps in the road or setbacks though. If a news network was nothing but facebook memes...

It's a setback in the effort against ISIS. But he called the incident an outrageous attack.

It's not Obama's fault the rest of the country and the media has the mind of a 3 year old and can't understand long sentences.

Clinton ‘often confused’ says beloved Huma in email

“Have you been going over calls with her for tomorrow?” Abedin asked Hanley. “So she knows [Indian Prime Minister Manmohan] singh is at 8?”

“She was in bed for a nap by the time I heard that she had an 8am call,” Hanley responded. “Will go over with her.”

“Very imp to do that,” Abedin said in response.

“She’s often confused.”

Fit to lead? I don't even know if she's fit to play shuffleboard at the senior center!

Always amusing how people try to play gotcha with anything Obama says.
Republicans aren't any less stupid in blue states.
I can vouch for this. One of my friends is a nice guy, but yeesh!

Rick Santorum, Ted Cruz Make Robocalls In Support Of David Vitter
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/rick-santorum-ted-cruz-david-vitter_5649e593e4b060377349c9cf

Republican presidential candidates Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) and former Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.) are coming to the aid of their colleague Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) in the final week of his Louisiana gubernatorial runoff campaign.

On Sunday, National Journal reported the two presidential hopefuls recorded robocalls voicing support for Vitter, who is trailing Democratic Louisiana state Rep. John Bel Edwards in the heated race. The Vitter campaign told National Journal that Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is expected to do the same.
In his call on behalf of Vitter, Santorum said he was "appalled" by Edwards' decision to attend the event:

“I must admit I am appalled. Just last week, a group of Christian churches, the Family Forum, hosted a gubernatorial forum and invited both candidates. Only David Vitter attended. Democrat John Bel Edwards cancelled an appearance at the state’s pro-life debate in favor of attending a voter drive held at a risqué adult hip-hop nightclub in New Orleans. You just can’t make this stuff up. Please visit Hayride.com to see the video footage.”
Why does Bel Edwards prioritize risque hip hop over unborn lives

So I'm definitely not voting for Trump, but Trump is coming to my city and having a rally... and I got tickets (they were free) just for the spectacle of it. Probably going to go the bar for a few beers and head in.

To be fair to Fox, their spin is more defensible than the left's spin on Jeb's "stuff happens" comment a month or so back.

It's long past time for Obama to be over such rhetorical missteps, though. I'm sure plenty of hay will be made with the following:

President Obama said:
What I’m not interested in doing is posing or pursuing some notion of American leadership or America winning

(Naturally, I've stripped the above of context, because that's how it will be repackaged--a fact he should have known and prepared for.)

Oh, you're back.

As Romney exemplified so well, such repackaging can very easily backfire.

Shep Smith stays winning.

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/foxs-she...mists-refusing-refugees-this-isnt-who-we-are/

Without specifically mentioning the governors, Smith said the U.S. has a responsibility to protect the values on which the nation was founded, warning that “political extremists” could lead the country to “self-destruction.”

“In the face of terror, will we panic, or be calm and deliberative in approach?” Smith said. “Confronted with those who want to change our way of life, will we abandon our freedoms and the rights granted to us by the Creator?”

In his commentary, Smith suggested that the U.S. must “welcome huddled masses yearning to breathe free,” referring to refugees attempting to escape their war-torn countries of origin. He also warned against taking “extreme measures to fundamentally alter who and what we are.”

I don't see how. Obama's is a poor choice of words, Jeb's is a callous disregard for tragedy.

No, it wasn't.

And I say Fox's spin is more defensible because Obama explicitly referred to the Paris attacks as a "setback" (though he hung some adjectives on there); Bush never referred explicitly to the Oregon shooting as "stuff."

Why are you intentionally withholding the adjective used before the word setback? Because it screws up the solidity of your semantic argument as usual? Makes it a little less extreme?

Because the noun is what matters in assessing Fox's spin. But keep in mind I think Fox is wrong on this--which I why I refer to their spin as such. I only bring this up in the interest of fairness to an otherwise-maligned news source:

You, too.

It's hypocritical to berate Fox for doing nothing different than liberal media sources were doing a month ago (unless you berated them, too, of course).

If I were banned due to some stuff I said in a thread, I definitely wouldn't be talking about it again as soon as I was unbanned.

Just saying.

Even in the surrounding context of Jub!'s flub... he still comes across as either dumb or callous. So I don't really see how it's comparable to an entire news network that's avowed mission is essentially to distort perception favourably towards society's friend Rupert Murdoch's political leanings.

Wasn't banned for that, bro (brah? breh? bruh? which one is hip these days?).

No, I think Jeb comes off as having used an unfortunate word--same as Obama. And I think certain media sources--beginning with Ryan Lizza's contextless tweets--distorted his statement just as Fox is distorting Obama's. I don't think Fox's similarity (or dissimilarity) to other media outlets affects the analogy.

You're making an argument hinged on intent opposed to text?

You?

Yes, yes.... join the dark side, my child.

And welcome back!

Interpreting the off-the-cuff commentary of a single person is a different sort of task than interpreting the formal proclamations of a body of hundreds of individuals.

It's nice to be back. You all have no idea how much you've gotten wrong in my absence :)

guys....The Five doesn't like Obama's comments today. He has no balls, doesn't react like Frances president, etc etc. It's time to get a real leader that will make America great again.

Trump can pack it up, ya'll. Omarosa endorsed Hillary.

He can't even get the people's he fired to vote for him. And he's fired, hundreds, no thousands of people with his 'uge companies. 'Cause they're 'uge. 'UGE!

Kasich is now against settling refugees in Ohio as well.

The hypocrisy, considering his public stances on immigration, is pretty fucking rich.

Shame on my governor. As well as the rest of the xenophobes.

Please remember, Steve Jobs was the son of Syrian refugees. These assholes might be turning away the parents of the next Apple/NeXt/Pixar.

So I'm definitely not voting for Trump, but Trump is coming to my city and having a rally... and I got tickets (they were free) just for the spectacle of it. Probably going to go the bar for a few beers and head in.

Bring a book. :)

Refusing refugees, religious tests wow.

Talk about proving ISIS propaganda right.

This is the weirdest part about it. I mean, from my perspective, I'd imagine ISIS wants us to not take in the refugees. Show the refugees that we're pieces of shit so that they in turn support ISIS...or at least something of that nature.

I mean, the way for ISIS to win here is for us and the world to fuck the refugees over. This is their goal! Why aid them!?

Excellent; another African American leader (former Ohio state senator) feeling Bernie's message :).

P.S. I was speaking to my very friendly and talkative Walmart automated checkout supervisor, and I asked if she's feeling my guy (see my novel use of a bumper sticker, below - legs are my transport), and she said "But, isn't he a socialist?"; obviously been watching too much Fox News...

Much to the possible chagrin of the Superstore Manager, who happened to be ringing up a sandwich, I of course enlightened her on a few issues (mentioned that Social Security and the Post Office are "social" programs), and she asked what I thought of Thatcher and Trump... But, she (not in my generation) seemed genuinely receptive (would welcome some bumph on Bernie etc), and as she could talk the ears of donkey, she could potentially be an influential ally (sorry Adam, she ain't a Hillary fan ;) ). I just hope I didn't or won't get her fired ("just don't mention unions, the living wage, corporate welfare, ..."), with the "big boss" being in earshot of my spiel.
