The only way I get this characterization is if you've read neither Piketty nor Marx.I think of Piketty as Marx 2.0, but I know there's quite a bit of debate about this. Anyway, not getting into that.
Am I alone in thinking Trump was even worse than last time? Just unhinged and nasty, and even more obviously uninformed.
Of course, Hillary failed to bring her A-game and went into cautious-mode, so the media get to claim that Trump was 'much improved, beat expectations!'
Which is annoying, but I guess any result that preserves the trajectory is more than good enough.

I've read both, thanks. Seriously not getting into it I've had too many debates about this at this pointThe only way I get this characterization is if you've read neither Piketty nor Marx.
Like Piketty doesn't want to seize any means of production, he just wants a global wealth tax. Ooh, "Marxism "
Lol people were complaining with what Tim Kaine was doing no on can win.
You don't bark back at a rabid dogI think Trump was "better" simply because the Clinton team apparently thought it would be better to let Trump spout much of his bullshit with little pushback. Hillary left a lot on the table in that debate
You don't bark back at a rabid dog
If Donald Trump has done anything, he has snuffed out the Religious RightOne pro-life leader who declined to be named said she does not know what to do and is reconsidering her support for Trump. Many abortion opponents find it difficult to back Clinton. “It’s hard to know what to do,” she said. “He is a disaster, but she is, too.”
We know nothing new about Donald Trump. He has told us about his view of women, his view of sexuality, his views of marriage and family for more than 30 years. He has gloried in reality television decadence before reality television was even invented, in his boasts to tabloid reporters. He reaffirmed who he is over and over again, even during this campaign — from misogynistic statements to racist invective to crazed conspiracy theorizing.
And yet here stands the old-guard Religious Right establishment. Some are defending or waving this away, with the same old tropes they’ve used throughout this campaign.

You don't stand there and let it chew on your leg either
More of a Groucho Marxist

Watch Journeys with George from Alexandra Pelosi. (Yes, of those Pelosi's.)Man, Hillary comes off great when chatting with reporters on her plane. Seems genuine and down-to-earth.
Cool, if you had that many debates and haven't changed your mind, you clearly have very personal reasons for believing it.I've read both, thanks. Seriously not getting into it I've had too many debates about this at this point
*Exactly. For that one fraction of a second, you were open to options you had never considered. That is the exploration that awaits you. Not mapping stars and studying nebulae, but charting the unknown possibilities of existence.
I've taken classes under Emmanuel Saez and Gabriel Zucman, two colleagues and collaborators of Piketty. They all study inequality, and they're clearly all keynesians, and like not even wacky post-keynesians.Piketty is absolutely nothing like Marx at all. There's a really good write-up in Le Monde that discusses this (in English, don't worry):

Piketty doesn't actually discuss capital, in the Marxist sense. He discusses wealth.
Trump immediately talking about "inner cities" when getting a question from a black man is underrated is how utterly insane and racist that moment was.
Theres no harm when all it can do is hurt itself. Eventually it will be put down.
Just started watching, whats with the sniffing the whole time?
Oh, very clever, Worf. Eat any good books lately?Best Q quote (really, the only one that matters in all of TNG)

My Trump supporting roommate just told me that Trump clearly won and the race is "closer than ever."
Can't wait for this election to be over.

He admits he has never managed really to read Das Kapital or any other works of Marx
Guess Piketty's smarter than I thought:
Media outlets should clearly state that, when they that the debate was a new low and filled with insults, it was Donald who was flinging the shit all over the place; Clinton was trying her best to steer the debate towards policy.
Also, Donald is basically throwing a temper tantrum and directing it towards the Clinton camp - even though his lewd tapes were released by two independent media outlets.
