I think the argument is that those manufacturing jobs are going to leave to a more competitive foreign market anyway.

Quickly crippling the workforce so top earners can get a jump start on globalization to maximize shareholder quarterly earnings without taking into account the economic devastation left in its wake is a good way to give rise to fascist demagoguery.

One thing I'm learning abut predictit is that people in the comment section have no idea what they're talking about. It's especially embarrassing when anything has to do with Trump.

Oklahoma is going through an oil crisis atm that's wrecked the working class + we're currently going through the Kansas model with a 1.3 billion budget hole no thanks to a hefty tax cut Fallin pushed through for the top earners.

I mean dems like to talk about working class voting against their interests, but after Clinton pushed through Nafta and Obama is trying his damndest to get tpp through, who in the hell is actually looking out for their interests?

This is why it's frustrating seeing that the modern Dems have basically thrown unions to the wayside or just pay them lip service. The party has gotten more progressive socially but more liberal (in the world sense) economically.

Socialism is what can save these areas.

The David Duke comment from yesterday where he refused to disavow him on TV. He did disavow him in the past though and did again today.

And GAF is WAY overestimating how this will actually affect him among republican voters (hint: It won't at all).

OMG.

The bust driver got rekt by this little old lady who said "If you say you like Trump, I'll report you for being a bigot."

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Oh god, I love my life at the moment.

Haley is going IN on Trump at a Rubio rally. Once you link someone to the KKK how can you support them in the general?

From Robert Costa:

Big moment here... Nikki Halley going after Trump as someone who doesn't "disavow" KKK: "Not part of our party, not who we are"

Haley just linked Trump to the KKK protesters who picketed outside state Cap in SC last year post-Charleston killings...

LOL except Trump is on record twice as disavowing them. So Haley is just flatout lying at this point?

Tech jobs probably won't help much because it probably require a college degree and some of these people probably just have a HS. Whatever they need is a job growth stimulus, investment of infrastructure, and a more effective healthcare system I think.

Sure, but let's say they get that. What are these new jobs? Like, what does West Virginia actually do? Their resources are coal and timber. The land doesn't support agriculture. There's not much of a commercial base. It's not clear who or what wants to build a factory or start a business in West Virginia. Without an industrial base or existing commercial wealth, it's hard to get stuff off the ground.

Well, I mean, in the aggregate TPP is good for the working class, because that's what free trade does, it enriches everybody by reducing the cost of goods.

It's in the individual cases of states like Oklahoma or West Virginia that people get fucked, but I agree with you, they have gotten fucked and nobody really seemed to have a plan to respond to that. (Oklahoma, in fairness, is getting trashed by an oil crisis that has nothing to do with free trade, but I think it's similar in some respects.)

I mean, ultimately Foffy is right. The correct thing to do is step up automation, continue to reduce the cost of everything, and create social programs to support the working class so that they can survive and create small businesses of their own or retrain or whatever. It's more or less inevitable and people need to really start thinking about it.

That's actually one of the big problems with Sanders! His anti-free trade strategy doesn't represent a real solution, it represents an emotional reaction. Sure, West Virginians like the idea that free trade needs to be stopped and then everything will be all right again. But fundamentally, free trade isn't just the institution, it's also the way forward by continuing to reduce the cost of everything. If he argued that socialism was the only way to support free trade I might actually vote for him, because at least then he'd be trying to argue for the one right policy choice.

The thing is, the GOP has not been "their party" for a while. What they've managed to do is get their 1% shit through because they did lip service to the low information, God, guns and gay people. This time, the God, guns, gays and wall people have decided they're not having any of it anymore. It's all so perfect. It's the southern strategy coming to bite them in the ass. And I, for one, welcome it.

Whoa, somehow Ben Carson--one of BEST fundraisers this cycle--says in email he doesn't have the resources to compete and needs more money.
Welp, looks like tomorrow he's out. hope he made some good money and made new friends! :)

i wish they'd just go all out and call him a racist

or there an unspoken rule i dont know about?

We went back and forth on this yesterday. The thing is once everybody sees you placing footsie with David Duke, et al you can't just walk that back. Shit like that sticks to you. Even in a Republican primary.

It's part of Trump's strategy. Leave the door open just a little bit and watch morons like Rubio and Haley waltz through. Now he will spend his next rallies skewering the lying nasty politicians.

Keep telling you guys he's a master media manipulator. Watch how he will unload a barrage of attacks on Haley and Rubio.

Kelly doing god's work.

Love it. He's at his best when he's mostly doing cartoons about politics with the personal stuff in there to spice things up and flesh out his character. The balance has been too far in the opposite direction for a while now. Hopefully we'll see more like this. This election season is a potential gold mine.

Wasn't he semi unresponsive regarding how he would help transition the current healthcare workforce into his single payer vision too?

He's going to fire back at them of course, thats what Trump does. But he got too cute this time and knows it. That's why he was talking about the bad ear piece this morning. Any tie to the KKK will kill him, even with a racist base of support.

She's going to do it guys. Hold your pants for 6 EST. +TX

TIggy I think you will hand her the nomination on a silver platter tomorrow. Don't let us down up there.

I will do it! I have not lifted a finger, but I'm sure my psychic abilities have been working.

The man who said he will kill terrorist's families posted a quote from Ghandi on his Twitter.

Whoa--Trump is running 10 points ahead of where Romney was at this point in 2012.

And they seriously want to recruit Romney?

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CcZmWWDW8AAwbPN.jpg:large

"Romney, one last mission, we need you."

"You know that I'm out of the game McConnell, find another lapdog to do your bidding."

"I know that you won't have the country be run by this mad dog, you'll come around, and when you do you know who to call."

@RichLowry
CNN poll asked non-Trump supporting Republicans if they'd support him in general:
Probably not support him 13%
Definitely not support him35%

These numbers will decline as the months pass, but damn if that isn't a nice starting point.
