arent most of your parents republicans? Good thing I dont have to worry about that
My Canadian parents are Conservative/Liberal voters (unfortunately) and my (immigrant latino) parents-in-law are Democrats. My mother-in-law is really in the tank for Clinton and my father-in-law says he's an Independent who would vote for a Republican but as far as I know never has.

Oh god. Trump is on CNN right now in the spin room already going after Rubio.

Ganon: By the way, boy... When you drew that sword of yours out of its
pedestal... Did you by chance notice how all the monsters frozen in time down
there suddenly began stirring again? Do you understand precisely what that
means? ...I highly doubt you do. Foolish child. While that sword is indeed the
blade of evil's bane, at the same time, it has long played another role... You
see, it is also a sort of key... a most wretched little key that has kept a
seal on me and my magic intact! By withdrawing the blade, you have broken that
seal...

New timeline incoming: Wind Waker failure.

Guys...

There are Sanders supporters willing to vote for these guys to spite Clinton.

Let that sink in for a moment.

The entire argument about Clinton's superior electability hinged on a significant swathe of the population preferring to vote for those guys over Sanders.

Which is not to say those Sanders supporters aren't wrong just that this argument is contextually bizarre.

Haha, like he came out of a swimming pool. He was sweating so much. We need someone who doesn't have whatever he has.

If it was Trump, you get Bloomberg probably throwing his hat in the ring. Mess.

If it was someone like Rubio, Kasich or Bush against a secular Jew Socialist? Eh.

I can't believe Trump is the best option out of all these jokers, what the hell happened to the Republican party.

Also Trump is a master of deflecting and branding his opponents.

Tonight I believe more than ever that Hillary 45 is a sure thing.

I think Cruz was the higher value target for Trump with Texas coming up this Tuesday. Florida is still a ways away.

Though Rubio definitely is his biggest threat overall.

remember me
No. No. I agree. This wasn't funny tonight. This was disgusting. This was just ridiculous.

Anyone want a poll?

Morning Consult National

Hillary 50 (+3)
Bernie 35 (-4)

Trump 42 (+1)
Rubio 19 (+5)
Cruz 14 (+2)

I would thread this if I wasn't so sick of poll threads after that last one showing Bernie on top nationally.

If you take out all the pauses for the audience you might actually have time to talk for 2 minutes (not that it's much more time). The bigger point is candidates wouldn't be able to get away with so much rehearsed patter, there's no late night monologue if there's no laughing audience.

Would it fix the problem? Of course not they'll still patter, but it would reward the politicians who go for more substantive answers as opposed to the current model where you get rewarded for just making the audience react.

Without the cheers and jeers of the audience I don't think Donald gets anywhere as far as he does now.
Yeah it would help but I don't think the media is after that type of thing on a fundamental level. Oh well.

I say let them have their fun. Super Tuesday is probably going to be hell for them. I mean, I've been there. It sucks. 2008 was hard as hell on me. I wouldn't wish it on anyone....except Weaver and Devine.

So....

Good.

As I hope it is.

I don't know man...something inside me has awoken to where I have an instantly negative reaction to anyone supporting Sanders in real life. Fairly or not

I need a drink.

Fuck me, this election is getting to me.

It's really a sad day for democracy if the strategic vote has to be determined by a rogue billionaire knowingly threatening to sabotage the Democratic candidate with a third party campaign.

For all the hate about Bernie supporters maybe not falling in line, how is Bloomberg getting such a free pass here?

whattt sourceeee

The PPP poll.
Rubio's trouble doesn't end there. His approval rating as Senator has cratered to a 31/55 spread, compared to a much more evenly divided 41/44 when we last polled the state in September. Only 40% of voters in the state think he should continue with his campaign, compared to a 44% plurality who think it's time for him to drop out. And he narrowly trails both Hillary Clinton (45/43) and Bernie Sanders (44/42) in head to head general election match ups. Rubio's become quite unpopular at home over the course of his campaign.

Winning has made Trump more popular. 64% of Republicans in Florida now have a favorable opinion of him to only 27% with a negative one. That actually puts him ahead of Rubio's 60/28 standing. The most broadly popular Republican for what little it's worth is Carson at 65/18. Kasich's at 53/22, and for the second state in a row we find Cruz under water at 39/48. We found that he had slipped into negative territory on our final South Carolina poll as well.

To be honest, I was there a few weeks ago. I kinda had to force myself to chill out, because I remember how I would argue for hours that Hillary could totally make up that 100 delegate disadvantage. So, maybe I just feel a bit of sympathy having lived through that.

However, I have no sympathy for Sander's campaign. I want them all to lose and lose hard.

Yeah it would help but I don't think the media is after that type of thing on a fundamental level. Oh well.

Maybe I'm just remembering history wrong, but did this happen during the last election? I could have sworn I remember the moderators explicitly telling the audience not to clap or cheer. I mean you're right that the media has been a on downward spiral for a long time now so it's not like this is unexpected, but I guess I mistakenly remember presidential debates having this little modicum of sacredness enforced.

Rubio did a very good job attacking Trump. Cruz was also effective but didn't have nearly as much time. Rubio has been effective all debate season at exploiting the debate laws to get as much speaking time as possible, and he continued this tonight.

Kasich had a good performance but is simply too sane to win this thing. His answers on religious liberty outraged the conservatives I follow on twitter, for instance.

Last point: I think this debate proved that while Trump is probably the nominee, he can be defeated if the field narrows. He looked like a fool debating Rubio and Cruz tonight. If either could get him into a 1v1 situation I think he just might fold. But the question becomes: do voters care? They haven't cared at all about his vapid answers for the last few months, why would they care now. Still...it's perhaps the only path I see to beating him.

What about Carson?

Yeah. I remember skipping out of that poll thread the moment I saw where it was headed and I've just been avoiding all these topics slagging off Hillary. I figure stomping on their sandcastles when the tide is already coming in is just too malicious.
