Depends on who you are trying to appeal to.
One is not in New York for example.

If Sanders loses New York, his math changes from amazingly improbable to impossible.

And yet he still won't concede when he does. Man is stubborn if nothing else.

Kristoffer I believe also said he'd vote for Trump over Bernie because of how much he hates what Bernie is doing to the Democratic Party. He's like the Hillary Stan version of Huelen, but nobody really says anything.

I didn't see that post. The last time I saw a post in PoliGAF saying they'd prefer a Republican to Bernie I remember it got dumped on like four times immediately, so I think this might just be one of those myths about how terrible we are.

Edit: This sentiment is also why the previous thread was called "Better Call Bernie", i.e. Bernie is like this fictional shyster lawyer. Kristoffer has an ax to grind.

Does this actually work?

I screen all my calls, anyone who doesn't leave a voicemail or isn't a registered number in my contacts doesn't get the time of day. I can't imagine I'm alone in this. If some random redditor called me when I was busy, I'd also be rather annoyed.

Im not in the reddit loop these days

what are "new atheists", and are they as hilarious as they sound?

Atheism is a lack of belief in a higher power, how can there be a "new" version of that concept.

Weird

Note this does not say how many unique people they reached. It's an impressive phonebanking number I guess but

Meh, neither did Hillary in '08.

I don't think Clinton was at the level of mathematical impossibility in April, but she did concede after the primaries were over. Sanders has promised to take it to the convention floor unless she wins the nomination without superdelegates.

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions
New atheists are the Dawkins/Harris types that are not only irreligious, but ANTI-religion (and often quite Islamophobic, to boot) and with a smug sense of superiority to the religious.

It's worse than that, they have also become anti-feminists.

He actually backed down from taking it to the convention. He was non-committal about it in the debate.

Some rando just texted me a Bernie ad

I heard one of his radio ads on a Top 40 station yesterday here in Pennsylvania, which was kind of a surprise. I haven't heard much from the Clinton campaign which was very active here back in 2008.

2,117 to become the nominee. Obama had a majority of the pledged delegates of 1,828(51%) . Only 30 switched. They both had supers. More undecided came to him as the primary ended. Supers mearly confirmed him.

Clinton vowed to continue campaigning, and won convincingly in primaries in West Virginia on May 13, and Kentucky on May 20 where Appalachian voters strongly preferred her over Obama. However, Obama was able to clear a victory in Oregon on May 20, which allowed him to clinch the majority of pledged delegates. Obama gave a speech in Des Moines, Iowa, the state that propelled his candidacy, in which he stated, "You have put us within reach of the Democratic nomination for president of the United States of America."[118] Clinton advisers said they would appeal to the DNC's Rules & Bylaws Committee[119][120] to have the Michigan and Florida delegations seated. However, even under the most favorable seating arrangement, she would not have been able to take a lead in pledged delegates and would have had to rely on superdelegates to win the nomination. On May 31, the rules committee accepted the Michigan state party's 69-59 distribution of pledged delegates and restored half votes to Florida's and Michigan's delegations. This resulted in a net gain for Clinton of 24 pledged delegates. Obama remained significantly ahead, with a lead of 137 pledged delegates before the Puerto Rico primary on June 1.
On June 3, the day of the final primaries in South Dakota and Montana, Obama rolled out about sixty superdelegate endorsements. Those endorsements, together with the pledged delegates awarded in the final primaries, put him well over the "magic number" of 2,117 delegate votes necessary for a majority at the Democratic National Convention. By early in the evening, all major news organizations had announced that Obama had clinched the Democratic nomination, and Obama claimed the status of presumptive nominee in a speech in St. Paul, Minnesota. Clinton did not concede the nomination in her election night speech, saying that she would be "making no decisions tonight".[121] On the morning of June 5, Clinton posted on her website an open letter to her supporters, which she also sent by e-mail that day. It announced that on Saturday (June 7) Clinton would endorse Obama's candidacy. During a well received concession speech in Washington DC on Saturday June 7 Clinton endorsed Obama in the following terms: "The way to continue our fight now, to accomplish the goals for which we stand is to take our energy, our passion, our strength, and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama, the next president of the United States. Today, as I suspend my campaign, I congratulate him on the victory he has won and the extraordinary race he has run. I endorse him and throw my full support behind him."

Here is our 2016 version I hope.

On June 7, the day of the final primaries with wins in California, New Mexico and New Jersey Clinton was able to obtain the majority of pledged delegates. With her superdelegate endorsements, together with the pledged delegates awarded in the final primaries, put her well over the "magic number" of 2,383 delegate votes necessary for a majority at the Democratic National Convention. By early in the evening, all major news organizations had announced that Clinton had clinched the Democratic nomination, and Clinton claimed the status of presumptive nominee in a speech in Cleveland Ohio. Bernie did not concede the nomination in his election night speech, saying that he would be "making no decisions tonight".[121] On the morning of June 9, Bernie posted on his website and twitter an open letter to his supporters, which she also sent by e-mail that day. It announced that on Saturday (June 7) Bernie would concede and endorse Clinton's candidacy. During a well received concession speech in Burlington VT, on Thursday June 9 Bernie endorsed Clintonin the following terms: " I congratulated Secretary Clinton on her victory and the race she has won" "Secretary Clinton and I may have had some differences in this campaign but I want to know that they pale in comparison to the difference between us and the Republicans. I ask that you all join me in doing everything we can to elect Secretary Clinton the next President of the United States ."

I've never understood his appeal.

Maher was awesome in the '03, '04, '05 time period because it was almost literally the only place on TV where Republican's would get called out on their bullshit to their face and you actually heard liberal liberal voices not BS "the DNC should shift to the center and nominate Evan Bayh and Mark Warner!"

This was also part of the appeal of Chris Matthews during his more lucid times. Remember this was before MSNBC shifted left and society in general had turned on neoconservatism in general.

Yeah but I don't really mind that. In two weeks his numbers will be impossible territory; for scientific reasons I'm interested in seeing how many will be willing to admit it afterwards though.

A lot of heels have been dug in.

Complaining about closed primaries rubs me the wrong way. If you want to choose who the Democratic nominee is, be a Democrat.

Maybe I'm completely wrong on this, but isn't Hillary still on track to get to 2383 pledged delegates on the 538 tracker? If she performs well on Tuesday and rolls that into a big 26th win streak, it's hard to imagine her not being on track.

It was a crime of passion, I swear. I think Huelen just set me off. It's all a charade, though. Damn do I love that guy :)

Do you guys remember the poster that said he had evidence that bernie was redirecting campaign funds through some front group for personal use? Kristoffer i think? What happened to that guy
He was sent to Belize.

The man, the legend. I'm real.

Correction, that was this very thread!

Well, that post is pretty terrible, and it probably could've gotten a little more condemnation. It did get some though!
Not as much as I would have liked. That guy is a real piece of work.

The 538 tracker is to 2026.

Now I'm in the mood to switch from my SNL marathon to watch Clue..

I love that movie. I have the DVD with the option to randomize which ending you get. It's funny when you show it to people who don't know that more than once and they freak out at the different ending.

Well where is your evidence you mythical motherfucker

If I wasn't lazy I would track down and/or make a gif of a clip from RedLetterMedia from a bizarre Chinese Christian music video series of a guy arguing against evolution by miming without words "you don't have any evidence"

Its 100% that she won't have the pledged majority till June 7th.

Delegates at stake between now and April 27th is 631. She will probably do about 55%. Puts her at 1311+350=1661.

May offer only 235. She will probably get about 40-45% 1661+105=1766
***The remaining supers could put her over the top here if they wish. 1766+470+130+17= 2,383
*Where 470 is the confirmed public support, 130 is the confirmed private support by MN chair and 17 are uncommitted.

June has 781. Likely get 45-50%. 1766+351=2117+470 = Nominee.

*pledged majority is 2,026

Looks like the conspiracies about the DNC rigging New York are already in full swing. "Reports" of people's registrations changing so they can't vote, even though they don't remember changing it. Except most just seem to be people forgetting what they registered as. And also the idea that the DNC would have the data to be able to only throw out Bernie voters is absurd.

I used to wonder why young voters were generally ignored.

its all establishment though so it's the DNC's fault.

also harking back to the degree debate, i've got a degree in accounting and liberal arts. Ironically the liberal arts degree has been far more useful job-wise.

We all know if something shady is going on, Clinton and her cronies in the DNC are behind it. Obviously, of course, it makes total sense and not at all ridiculous.

Closed primaries are perfectly legal, so there's absolutely no substance to this lawsuit at all.

I'd put money on a lot of them moving and never updating their information or letting their registration lapse by voting in 2008 and never again. The rest either forgot how they registered or accidentally changed when updating their information. I seriously doubt anything funny is going on.
