i will never be as gay as you and that makes me sad

There's still hope! Just listen to Cher for like 19 hours straight. You'll either be OMG YASSS QUEEN WERK FUCK! or you'll be straight. Not sure why that happens...

My mom offered me $1000 to go to pride with her...in drag. The only disappointment I've caused her in life is that I don't do drag.

For example, when it comes to a social issue like gay rights, my opinion is that gays and lesbians should be afforded extra rights under the law, as I believe they are descended from an immortal race of beings whom we must revere as the ancient Sumerians would have revered their god An. All Americans should spend four hours of every workday erecting elaborate temples in which to worship our omnipotent homosexual overlords, and we all must sacrifice ourselves willingly upon the altar of the gay and lesbian community, everyone of us, including children, who, by the way, I think should be eligible to drink, drive, and vote from age four on up.
Ohohoho beware the subliminals

I would slit my wrists a few minutes in. I can't do that. It's too gay. I'll sleep with guys, but listening to Cher is crossing the line for me.

Bill is so ready to go after these people.

“You have cherry-picked facts, which contradict the truth.”

Clinton stood over the booth, looking directly at Brody. Aides hovered nearby, still hoping to nudge the former president on to other voters.

“If you never have to make a decision, then you can go back to the past and cherry-pick everything [for a] narrative that is blatantly false,” Clinton continued. “What you’re saying is false.”

“Seems like your narrative,” Brody responded, his voice louder than Clinton’s, “is that you did the best job that you could have possibly done from the most progressive standpoint that you possibly could have had.”

“No,” said Clinton.

You have to give the kid credit. There's no way i'd have the balls to debate any president lol. Even if I hated the guy and thought he was horrible I would just shake his hand and say pleasure to meet you.

I don't know why this is so funny to me.

Beside Brody, three friends ate their egg dishes in silence.

"The conversation here began when Clinton approached Brody’s booth. The young Sanders supporter, a Santa Fe native, appeared to decline to shake hands with the former president.."

Yeah, he sounds like a stuck up asshole actually. Refused to shake hands with Bill Clinton over his ideals? These people are so far stuck in their bubbles that they start viewing anyone that doesn't agree with them as less than people, as enemies. Not even worth dignifying with a handshake. He's an idiot.

That dude looks like the exact kind of intolerable douchebag I would see in Intro to Philosophy classes. The kind of dude everyone else at the table is internally screaming "Who invited him again?!"

Truth telling time.

I once shook Newt Gingrich's hand. I have a picture of it...or rather my parents do, somewhere.

The year was 1995 I think. And I was just about to enter HS. I thought it was super cool to shake the man whose hand was 2nd in line if the President died. edit: maybe 1997. I haz bad memory.

Now, if Donald Trump offered his hand to you, would you shake it? After all the scummy shit he's said? What if he does become President?

Pretty neat story!

Honestly, I'd shake his hand out of courtesy but only at this point in time. It'd be a nice bonus to discuss a particular subject...civilly in such a scenario.

Missed that part. Taking my credit back from poor man's Jake Johnson.

Yes, I once shook George W Bush's hand, it's a respect for the office thing. I've shaken hands with lots of people I don't like, hell some of them I downright loathe.

You wouldn't believe the things I've done with this hand in particular, Don.

Anyway I don't think I'd begrudge anyone a handshake. Seems petty for such a minor thing.

Bill Clinton is nothing like Donald Trump, so I have a problem with that from the start.

But yes I probably would shake Donald's hand, as a person greeting and being human to another person. I'm not going to pretend he cannot be touched, he's still a human being, however flawed. I won't vote for him though, and will vehemently disagree with his positions and bigotry. It's just common decency to not treat your fellow humans like they have a disease and refuse to shake hands based solely on their ideas. Trump definitely pushes that limit though, I won't lie.

It was on my family trip out east, including D.C. Met him on the steps of capitol hill.

I think I said something to him. Not political or anything. Just like a "nice to meet you, I love politics" and stuff. I believe I was almost 14. I didn't really have any political beliefs then, just an interest in how government worked and US and some world history so from that perspective it was like a big deal to me. God, I got to go in the White House and Capitol and I thought it was so fucking cool. To be young and in awe..what I'd give...

I haven't been since but I'm assuming you can't just walk up to the Speaker of the House with no security on the steps, anymore. Or can you?

FTR, I wasn't comparing Bill to Trump. I was just asking if people would shake Trump's hand now and if he were to be President.

I must say Trump trashing the GOP NM governor, who was considered a rising star and new face for the party, is just proof positive Trump is NOT going to shift in anyway. Trump will still be Trump. And destroy the GOP in the process...

Let's be fair, Trump is a germophobe and probably wouldn't shake _your_ hand. You could have some fun with that.

This is literally the topic Romney got corrected on during the debate for being wrong about.
It was called an act of terror the day after the incident by President Barrack Obama, but then his administration spent the next week and a half giving inconsistent analyses and walking it back. Unlike Ann Coulter and the I've-Had-It-Up-To-Here Crowd, I don't really care what it's called. I value the reticence and disinterest in taxonomy. But to imply that from day one and onward the administration (Gates, Rice, Obama, and Clinton) was giving the public a clear, consistent assessment is wrong (because they didn't have one).

I was an intern on the hill a few years ago but I ran into Boehner a few times and other members all the time. They had security but nothing that would prevent an admirer from shaking hands (unless they were doing business)

and speaking of cross-partisian politics. ileana ros lehtinen's office throws a good party

Ah ok, fair enough :) Well, it would make a good story for one, and two, I would not get infected with bigotry from touching him (at least I hope not).

Yeah, I had this conversation with my friends a month ago. I don't think there's any politician whose hand I wouldn't shake. They'd have to be like total scum or murderers for me to not at least give them a handshake if prompted.

I wouldn't go out of my way to shake Ted Cruz's hand, though.

I wouldn't shake Ted Cruz's hand. He's a disgusting individual. I don't owe him a photo-op. Trump too, for that matter.

The list of people whose hands that I would not shake is extremely small, but if a politician wants to approach me and that politician has repugnant views (like "exterminate all the gays!"), then I'm sorry, but I think there is a limit that I have that stretches beyond the bounds of normal politeness.

Regarding the hand shake conversation, I would avoid being in a situation where I felt obligated to shake someone's hand who I dislike, but if it were a business meeting or something I'd be civil and just shake hands.

Maybe not Ted Cruz. Might just call him Mr Zodiac

Nouns are my favorite kind of verb

Bill Clinton debated a 24 white male Bernie Stan for 30 minutes!

Actually seems civil. Poor Bill. Wanted so hard to convince the kid but in the end, he's going to stan for Jill Stein!

Have to hand it to Bill for making an effort to talk to someone like that.

How could you not shake hands when the dude takes 30 minutes out of his day to chat with you?

Bill Clinton engages with dissenters pretty regularly. He's such a goodhearted person, sometimes.

Yeah, it was!

Ah okay. Newt literally had no security at the time, Just walked outside, said hello to a few people, and I walked up to him and then some tourists came by.

This was on the steps outside, not in the building. Since you have to pass security to get in, I always assumed it was different inside versus outside for the Speaker (less members not).

Being in LA I've met many a celebrities and athletes but Newt's the only big shot politician I ever shook hands or said anything toward. Saw a Kerry speech pretty up close on campus in 2004 but that's it in terms of the bigs.

Though, Obama has caused me to drive in a different direction numerous times...that cad!

Oh man, Ted Cruz would be a tough one. I probably would end up shaking his hand, but I guarantee I would let him know I think he's scum and that his views are repugnant.

edit: i know my mom is dying to meet slick willie.

Personally, I'd kill for 30 minutes with Obama. I'd love just enough time to pick his brain, get his real opinions on certain things, and just talk basketball with him.

As undisciplined as usual.

There's literally nothing he could say to win over that guy. Which is why I always advocate: never engage with protestors, agitators, or people like this guy. Conversely I think Hillary tends to deal with these people the best. Dismiss them with a joke and keep it moving.

He's definitely a smart dude so I feel like even things I disagree with him on would make interesting conversation.

That being said a lot of my criticisms of him were also Democrat platform problems in the 90s

Also GODDAMN that kid comparing Hillary to Margaret Thatcher. Some of that "I only vote for the ~*pure*~ candidates" bullshit, but he trying to vote for Jill fuckin Stein lol.

If Obama isn't on a podcast at least once per basketball season, I'll consider it the worst post-presidency career of all presidents. The world needs at least one Obama basketball podcast per year.

“Poor Mitt Romney. Poor Mitt… I mean, I have a store that’s worth more money than he is,” Trump said, adding later: “He choked like a dog... Once a choker, always a choker.” He also called Romney “stupid” and joked that he “walked like a penguin” on stage.

The one thing, though, is that when Trump loses the GE, everyone he's ever insulted is going to come at him with sharp knives.

Couldn't even beat crooked Shillary. Sad!

Hands smaller than Hillary! Pathetic!

Speaking of which, assuming Trump loses...will he concede on election night? I could see him refusing to and instead casting doubt on the validity of the results.

At least no one was this guy.

Bush_handshake_wipe_Clinton.gif

Kerry tried engaging protestors early on in the 2004 campaign, and his explanation of Senate procedure opened him up to flip-flopping charges. Trying to explain the concept of poison pills to a guy who probably knew better was a waste of time, and got turned into a major attack ad.

Obama, and Clinton are pretty good at deflecting attacks like this, especially as she's been playing this game for so long.
