What would actually happen if they both debated? Would they both just shit on Hillary for two hours? That would definitely benefit Trump, but what does Sanders have to gain from that? It's not like he has any chance at the nomination so he should be vying for more power at the convention or something and this would be going against that? Or would Sanders actually attack Trump and defend Hillary, which would definitely help push Bernie supporters towards Hillary in November and may give Bernie more sway at the convention. But then Trump has absolutely no reason to be a part of this. So what the fuck is going on?

Essentially ended a friendship (more like a long-time acquaintanceship) today over Email-gate. I just cannot hide my contempt for people who treat it like a major thing. I think it goes beyond mere disagreement and into full-on hatred at this point. Like I want these people to feel literal anguish in November.

I'm not so gay that I don't get some sports. Although for the longest time I thought tight ends were elected to that position by their team mates.

To me it's not about this happening. It's about the possibility of this stupid thing being the media circus Trump wants it to be for the next few days. It's a perfect Trump diversion and a waste of time that the media will eat up.

Exactly this.

This week Hillary and the Democratic Party launched their first unified attack against Donald Trump over his housing crisis comments. If the media picks up on this, and if Trump is smart (big if), Bernie just gave him the perfect media bait to deflect all that.

If this were football, Bernie just broke formation and crossed the line of scrimmage.

I was looking up Obama's comments on people criticizing the Democrats that voted for Roberts' appointment back in 2005 and this was an interesting and relevant bit:

So the only reason that he would agree to it would be to give bernie a boost. Because he obviously would prefer him to be the nominee.

But he'd have to "lose" the debate in order for that to happen.

It seems like a lose lose for Trump.

I think it's just his philosophy of any press is good press. He wants Bernie to stay in the spotlight with stuff like this so that the Democratic party stays divided as possible. Even if Bernie "loses" he still wins by having a huge amount of publicity and probably some good ratings on TV.

It undermines her as the presumptive nominee
Trump thinks he can win over Sanders supporters
