Yeah, I just don't think it'll work. Centrist politics have been his bread and butter for years. I think he attempts just enough progressive legislation to not rile up the base too much. Clinton tried reinventing herself and it failed miserably.

But then again, Cuomo has a dick.

Yeah honestly i don't think the press would be nearly as hard on Cuomo as they were with hillary. I still don't see the coalition behind him thugh

Some fun news on the side:

Japanese student translates Trump’s tweets to practice English, accidentally gets 60K+ followers
Up until recently many in Japan had no way of knowing what was coming out of the President’s Twitter feed, outside of breaking out an English dictionary or when something was big enough to make Japanese news. But then, on November 20 last year, an anonymous 17-year-old Japanese high school senior who goes by the pseudonym K・T-san changed all of that. He started translating almost every tweet Donald Trump made into Japanese.
One aspect in particular that makes K・T-san’s translations so colorful is his commitment to conveying Trump’s casual language. For example, when Trump uses “you” to address the American people, K・T-san translates it as anatagata, a very polite “you all.” But when Trump says “you” referring to a someone he doesn’t like, K・T-san translates it is aitsura (an impolite “those guys”) or omae (an impolite “you”), words that Japanese politicians would almost never use.
A while back I watched a video in which a JP Youtuber was asking people on the street post-election what they thought about the election, and quite a good deal of them expressed that they thought Hillary was corrupt and unpunished. Which makes you wonder a bit about what JP publications report.

This actually seems like a good way for me to try and practice my Japanese, it's been slipping since I stopped taking classes for it.

I am so on edge right now I seriously just yelled at the Burger King drive thru person because they couldn't get my order right.

just wanted to chime in with a few things on this one

1. you're not alone. all of us are sideways about this whole damn thing and have been for a couple months.

2. it's ok to unplug for a day. you need to, we all need to. schedule strict no-news, no-twitter, no-facebook, no-radio time if not daily, at least one day per week.

3. i strongly encourage you -- on edge enough to blast off on a worker -- to think about pursuing a pharmaceutical solution to anxiety. Get a maintenance for daily, get something to stop the panic attacks. And maybe something to help you sleep.

yes it's all scary but you're not alone and the world doesnt' need you freaking out. get better dude!

No idea who Peckarsky is, but it's nice to see that he also wants a 50 state strategy. That seems to be the theme going forward. I just hope that future DNC chairs stick with it.

They added a couple real longshot candidates like Peckarsky (who is just some random lawyer who's done some election work in Wisconsin) and Ronan (who has no political experience outside of losing a race for State Rep in Ohio). There was some other guy who they had at the last one who was attacking Ellison for being a Muslim and got kicked out of the forums.

What does he think he has to gain by actively praising Trump right now?

"I don't have any predictions on what I might do. I'm not going to open a door and I'm not going to close a door. All doors are open," Romney said after mentioning the 2018 Senate race.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, first elected in 1976, has not yet said whether he will run for re-election, but other potential candidates, including former Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., have already surfaced.

One of Romney's five sons, Josh, has also been mentioned as a possible Senate candidate, although Josh Romney has said he is "strongly considering" a run for Utah governor in 2020.
Ugh. Maybe Huntsman or McMullin. We don't need more of Romney or his family.

I didn't even know there was a previous debate. I think I just saw the first one.

Also, holy shit at the bolded. How did Ellison react to that?

It does say that he might run for a senate seat in 2018, but you would think he knows that Trump's supporters are never going to forgive him for insulting their god emperor. Trump himself is never going to give Romney anything, much less come to his rescue.

I would think it would make more sense for him to pull a Jeb and just walk away. Trump's not going to give him anything and he's opening himself up to attacks by someone like Evan McMullen. If Trump were to fuck up really, really badly by the time the midterms roll around, McMullen's attack ads would practically write themselves.

These "pro-WWC" people have described the WWC as a group that is fine with economic policy made by and for Goldman Sachs if they get to ban Muslims to make the (((elites))) mad.

That's an incredibly dark view of a group of people. A people so obsessed with petty revenge against people they've never met that they will accept millions being deported or killed while the banks rob them blind to get this revenge.

And this is the view of many people who deny the racism behind Trump's victory! They're trying to make this out to be justifiable and instead paint a picture of a disturbed and rotten social class.

Yeah, I don't get what Romney gains in Utah by cozying up with Trump.

A very long essay on What Steve Bannon really wants, based on his speeches, writing, and other works.

Fantastic read, and uh, kinda scary as fuck. There's no way to read that and not come away with the idea that Bannon wants an actual World War IV, this time everyone against the middle east.

But what do you do if you're looking to start a war? Look at US imperial history which used incidental accidents and attacks, for starters:

1. Spanish-American War: explosion on the Maine

2. WWI: Sinking of the Lusitania

3. WWII: Pearl Harbor

4. Vietnam: (WWIII containment policy)

5. Iraq I: (fucking with our oil)

6. Afghanistan: 9/11

7. Iraq II: wrong place, wrong time

8. WWIV? -- Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and bet on having a military buildup, uniting an entire religion against a powerful regime(s), angering poor religious minorities in order to provoke a suicide attack(s), and then using that as a launchpad for an all-out attack on everything between Morocco and Kabul.

Watch for it. Know what happens next. These folks (Bannon and Co.) CLEARLY want war, and if we can read the tea leaves right, they want Russia to join us into destroying the entire region. Three small problems: 1) Europe disagrees, 2) China in general, 3) Indonesia.

Oddly enough I've been on paxil for years because I have nocturnal panic attacks (if I don't take it).

My community just had a Stand With Immigrants rally and it was pretty awesome, lots of people showed up. An Iranian woman who works at the university across the border said she was planning on leaving America because of Trump until the Women's March and the airport protests started. One woman from Libya started thanking people for showing up.

The woman who organized it looked like Jill Stein though.

So Chelsea Clinton has to be angling to run for something right? She's been tweeting out a ton of anti-Trump stuff lately and throwing shade.

Vietnam was the Tonkin Gulf Incident. We were already involved in an advisory capacity before that, but that muddled little naval incident is what stepped it up to the full scale war.

Bill Maher is an idiot. And basically a bigot. I don't know why anyone watches and/or cites his views on anything.

I wonder what President Turnbull of Astraulia is doing today.

Aside from his closing statement, Perez seemed to be a bit more muted than in the first debate. He definitely had less of a presence. Ellison and Mayor Pete were the two big standouts.

Bannon says that socialism killed the middle class but how can that be true when socialism is why there's even a middle class? Unfettered capitalism is what drove America in to The Great Depression.

Why the fuck does Trump have a hard on for allying with Russia to fight terrorism? It makes no sense. You have tried-and-true allies, you orange turd.

Pence advocating for the nuclear option for Gorsuch tells me it's probably going to happen.
I was always convinced the Republicans would force McConnell's hand into nuking the filibuster.
It's the Democrats holding firm and forcing them to in the first place that has always been the question mark for me.

My bet is he's outwardly venting/whining because he's been asking these questions to everyone else and hasn't liked the answers he's been getting in response.

Was flying in today while this was happening, otherwise would have been there! Great to see.
