Overheard from one lawmaker on Rosenstein meeting: "That's 30 minutes of my life I'm never getting back"

Just came out of the House briefing by the Deputy AG. It renewed my confidence that we should have no confidence in this Administration.

This is reassuring.

Biden winning in 2016 doesn't change the slaughter Democrats would have had in 2018, and the potential major loss in 2020 leading to a bigger GOP majority than now and another decade of comically gerrymandered districts.
Unfortunately Scalia's vacancy threw a wrench into things, as well as any other potential SCOTUS retirements (not to mention the various federal court appointments Trump will get to make) that makes me have to think twice about whether Trump's election is ultimately better in the long run for Democrats.

Like, if we come out of 2020 with 250 House Democrats, 60 Senators and a president, and enough power in the state governments to draw fair maps (or even our own gerrymanders), that's cool and all, but it'll really suck if we have to go up against a 5-4 Supreme Court every single time for 40 years.

President Obama.

Secretary Clinton

"The Establishment"

When Trump bitches about them during the campaign, he's not whining, to them, he's the underdog punching up

Who's there left to punch up to now?

I mean, these people have known him long before that. He has been the same piece of shit all his life, why are they now surprised he is the same piece of shit he has always been?

I have serious doubts McConnell ever would have allowed Hillary any Supreme Court appointment. Especially not after hypothetical big wins for the GOP in 2018. But I bet he could've gotten away with dragging it out against a relatively unpopular president from Jan 2017-November 2018 as well.

So yeah, Rosenstein agreed with firing Comey, no surprise there. Of course, he seems SUPER fucking pissed off about Trump and co essentially throwing him under the bus for his memo, shocking no one.

Next Wednesday for the CBO score of the new ACHA.

And they haven't even sent this shit to the Senate yet.

What did they hope to gain with the dog and pony show? Your die-hards who wanted this aren't going to vote against you ever anyway.

Something like this silly video could have helped a bit if it was released during the election.

They would have just said that she was arrogant, & mocking Trump's willingness to forgive & let bygones be bygones.

I mean, look at the OT. A lot of people here seriously believe that Hillary started the birther rumors.

When's the deadline for budget reconciliation again? The Senate might try to pull a fast one in the last hours with their own ACHA bill.

Hillary is a terrible politican just like Kerry, Gore, Dukakis etc. Her campaign manager was also pretty bad. It has nothing to do with gender.
The first answer is ALWAYS "it has nothing to do with gender". But the Hillary crafted for 2016 has everything to do with gender. Guys will never admit to that.

But you have no trouble imagining how awesome Biden would have been, in some fantasy land where because guys are likeable they would do so much better.

It is mind-boggling to me that months after the elections and months into a terrible presidency, this somehow garners a lot of responses in the realm of hypotheticals and wishful dreams about "what if what if what if"—Who cares? Why do you still give a shit? You say "who cares" about Hillary possibly being the better president, I ask who cares about the what ifs and the imagined 2016 elections?

The worst part of these stupid what ifs is the idea that if the candidate were just anybody but Hillary Clinton, America wouldn't be a rotting country that voted for Trump. When the win mattered everyone piled on Hillary, eager to tear down a winner. When she lost, everyone is still piling on Hillary, to tear down fucking what?

Ironically it's been months after the election and people are still so obsessed with Hillary Clinton. What so and so said about Hillary needs more attention! What Hillary said on CNN needs more attention!

Why contribute to that nonsense instead of focusing elsewhere?

An analyst on twitter made a good point that you shouldn't be surprised if new CBO score says reduces number of people who would be uninsured from the original 24 million.

This is because when states get rid of Essential Health Benefits, it makes premiums cheaper for healthy people. And there are way way more healthy people than sick people in America.

When 2018 budget process officially starts, which should be June at the latest. It'd cause problems if they delay any more than that.

A straight repeal of Obamacare resulted in less loss of insured. That metric is garbo.

Cooper, who outperformed Clinton last year by winning a swing state state she lost, worries Democrats could lose focus of "pocketbook issues."

"We have to communicate with people that we know we will help," he told NBC News. "And a lot of those people voted for Donald Trump because they were frustrated that their wages were stagnant, that they didn't see their lives getting any better. And it's important for us to show them that we are a better alternative."

Hogwash. You know what you need? Charisma. That's it. Period. That is the only thing the American voting public cares about. Bill Clinton notched a win over a decorated war hero because he was effortlessly charming. The Republicans then ran a desiccated pineapple scion against him and got crushed. So they come back with a charming goofball. And even though Gore was clearly more intelligent and had better policies, he loses, because he's perceived as "boring." Then the Democrats bring in John Kerry, a reanimated husk of Balsa wood. They're only able to recapture the Presidency through an inspirational guy who is so charming he makes Bill Clinton look like Alex Jones. McCain had more experience, he's a war hero, and people arguably liked his policies more... but he doesn't stand a chance against Obama's personality. So let's get someone who is reasonably charming but hopelessly out of touch... nope, not good enough, sorry Mitt.

Now 2016 is weird. Because Donald Trump is not "charming" in any way, shape or form. But apparently people like his style of presentation. Hillary, by contrast, is reserved; even her most ardent supporters say she needs to try to be more "likable" on the campaign trail. Because it turns out that the only thing "undecided" voters actually care about is personality. Period. We all know what the policies of the Republicans and Democrats are, and frankly, there's a hefty amount of overlap. The only way to get people out to actually vote is someone who is inspirational. All this nonsense about policy? Stop it. Yes, it's important to have good policy, but the people you're trying to convince, the swing voters, have never once demonstrated that is what sways their decision on election day. They vote for a cult of personality. So find a charming articulate son of a bitch and the policy pieces will fall into place.

This is the biggest problem in our country. The people will vote for style over substance every time. Democrats almost universally have the substance over Republicans at this point. We need to inspire. And, sadly, that usually means meaningless platitudes rather than actual policy.

Maybe we just need someone who sells more Halloween masks

The person who sold the most masks still has a perfect record since they started tracking in the 70s
