The media in this country is despicable. It really, truly is.

It's like, they've gotten slightly better at calling out Trump's lies...but it seems to be a completely new concept to them that other Republicans lie just as blatantly as Trump and know how to coax a positive headline out of the most heinous shit.

Maddow, AM Joy, and Lawrence O'Donnell are the only three deserving of my time these days. The rest? Trash.

I made a non-serious comment but if you want to explain why Kasich cannot run in the Democratic primary because of how primaries work, please explain further. I will say that ex-Republicans seem willing to run in the Democratic primary and Kasich said last year that he should've run in the Democratic primary.
If that's how he feels then he should just switch parties and run against Portman or something in the future.

Watched Tom price being interviewed by Andrea mitchel and I wanted to throw my TV out the window. Frankly I'm sick of the media and she was doing a piss poor job of pushing back. He was just making up shit how this puts the power inside patients and doctors hands. HOW THE FUCK DOES THE ACHA DO THAT. I don't understand how the media doesn't have the balls to push back on that and make them explain it. It was the same fucking answer for everything. 800 million cut to Medicaid? " O it's going to be a better way of giving them coverage. And btw we're going to put the power back into the hands of the consumers and doctors! "

I can't believe they think people are dumb enough to fall for the, "You can't be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions!!!" crap that Ryan et al., are throwing around.

This isn't some lie about the rich's or corporate tax returns that won't ever be experienced first-hand by the poor and middle-class. This is something that will affect every single voter with pre-existing conditions, regardless of class. What do they say then? What happens when Joe Schmoe Republican with Diabetes gets his new healthcare premium that is thousands of dollars higher? How do they placate him at that point? Blame Obama? It's THEIR LAW.

It's impossible. They're fighting a losing battle, and picking a horrible way of going about it.

You know what this feels like to me? A "Grab the cash while we can and run" ploy. Like they know a massive change is coming, and they have to squeeze what they can out of each and every human being until it's over.

The GOP's diversionary tactic now to the AHCA is to say that it's bad that Dems swear. No really.

The democrats should turn this into a, "So? We're just giving Americans a preview of what they'll say when they see their health care bills after this plan is voted through."

HStallion

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
This mother fucker on Face the Nation just started quoting Schoolhouse Rock about how Bills work in the government to explain away why the Healthcare Bill isn't incomplete or up to the President's standards.

It will affect those voters that live in states that apply for the waiver, not necessarily all voters with preexisting conditions.

Who do we think would apply for the waivers? Same states that didn't do the Medicaid expansion?

I still can't forgive O'Donnell for being a Nation Lampoon writer when he was in college.

I will say that ex-Republicans seem willing to run in the Democratic primary and Kasich said last year that he should've run in the Democratic primary.

Kasich wouldn't win a Democratic Primary because he would have to answer for a lot of the conservative legislation that he signed into law, particularly arbotion restrictions.

Kasich would have a much better chance just challenging Trump in a 2020 primary by making sure to be the only moderate primarying him.

It's similar to why Romney won in 2012 primaries: He had all the moderate support consolidated early on.

The democrats should turn this into a, "So? We're just giving Americans a preview of what they'll say when they see their health care bills after this plan is voted through."

Better yet, Democrats should just respond with "What's wrong with us using politically incorrect language? Or does your side only hate political correctness when they are complaining about minorities and immigrants?"

Martha McSally shouted "Let's fucking do this!" before voting for the bill

Fuck them

And to the above, I too love the hypocrisy of conservatives when talking about language.

Dipshit: "Why can't we say the word nigger anyway"
Democrat: "fuck"
Dipshit: "OH MY PEARLS LET ME CLUTCH THEM"

Doesn't matter what these a-holes are saying on sunday shows. What matters is people packing their (Republican congressmen's) townhalls, calling, emailing and screaming.

I've been saying for months now that it's about time Democrats start showing Republicans what LIBERAL political incorrectness looks and sounds like.

Colbert's Trump joke was the perfect example.

Like why can't Bill Maher start doing more jokes about white people being ridiculously sensitive?

Imagine if the next time a Nazi conservative like Tomi or Coulter is on the panel and the liberals start pissing them off by constantly referring to them as "Aryan Bitch".

In states with open primaries (New Hampshire and South Carolina being major ones), if Trump is running umcontested on the Republican side, the Democratic candidates will be courting Republican voters.

Right, but he'd have to leave office and formally switch his affiliation, and that's not Kasich, who's republican to the core but is smart enough to know what's actually unpopular with voters.

He does not need to leave office, his term ends in January 2019.

1. The CBO score is going to cause absolute havoc when it's released.

2. Loving that slow burn on Russia. Trump tweeting today foreshadowing another development.

3. Looks like France avoids facism if the exit polls are accurate (60/30).

4. I expect thing will come to a head with Russia before 2020. Worldwide sanctions and depressed oil prices will make things worse though.

Will it? I'm assuming it'll look very similar to the first CBO report. The House rolled the dice already, they don't give a shit. The senate on the other hand is already planning on creating their own bill, so they'll simply dismiss the report and get to work.

It's so funny how much the "liberal snowflake" bullshit caught on considering the source.

Masters of projection, always. Any time a Republican accuses an opponent of doing something, just assume they're 10x worse.

I liked the analogy I saw here earlier (or maybe it was in OT) where Republicans bitch about Democrats going 70 in a 65, then when it's their turn to drive they're going 120 and texting.

I really think it will if only because The Media will move on from the dumb win/lose narrative. Recall last time that it was the CBO and media reaction that caused the 1st to implode. This one will be even more explosive and the GOP Senate will have to commit to a bunch of unworkable billshit in response.

Meanwhile, much like the US and UK, France still has 30% facsist bigots who don't know better and 25% facsist bigots who do (abstains).

This worldwide calamity happening in slow mo doesn't end until the far right media is crushed. Even then Russia needs to be neutered.

That is not happening in four years that is for sure.

I'm not adept at French Politics, but that guy who dropped out and endorsed Macron a few weeks ago pretty much made this a slam dunk right?

It's going to be the pretense for the Senate kicking that puppy off the bridge.

All of the other major candidates either endorsed voting for Macron or endorsed voting against Le Pen when they failed to make the second round. This is pretty normal (see: 2002, there's even a term for it), and there wasn't much of a risk of the FN winning, even from the start. Trump won in the US because he co-opted an existing party, which can carry additional voters due to partisan bias and the like. The closest French equivalent would have been Sarkozy winning the LR primary in his new fascist-lite form, but for the most part, France's multi-party system keeps fascist element contained, whereas two party systems tend to be absorb them (the Republicans, the Conservatives).

Ah, I see.
If they did not drop-out, I take it a canidate has to get to 50% of the vote, and they would do a run-off if one did not?

And even if, for some dumb reason, the endorsements had lined up so that Le Pen would get roughly half the vote... the debate with Macron happened.

How could it be that a neoliberal centrist won an election while a true leftist in Corbyn is losing so badly? How can this be?

Macron won because Fillon got hit by a corruption scandal, bluntly put. Take that away and it would have been a comfortable LR win.

Corbyn can't win because Corbyn is about as removed from the working classes as you can possibly get. His leftism is that of the university lecturer and not of the factory worker. He is the manifestation of every fruit-juice drinker, nudist, sandal-wearer, sex-maniac, Quaker, "Nature Cure" quack, and pacifist, all rolled up into one package; and doesn't understand that to the ordinary working man, the sort you would meet in any pub on Saturday night, Socialism does not mean much more than better wages and shorter hours and nobody bossing you about. A terrible candidate!

They didn't drop out, no. France has a two round system. If no candidate gets 50% in the first-round (which has never happened anyway), the top two candidates from the first round get to go through to the second.

This time, the top two candidates were Macron and Le Pen. There are a few weeks inbetween rounds, and during that time, traditionally all other candidates will work together to stop the FN's candidate - like they did in 2002, and like usually happens in the French legislative elections, which also use two rounds.
