Flops please, the hype for Bey her eight noms Vanguard Award and performance is REAL

Ya'll need to stop taking your bussy-bopping gentlemen's clubs as gospel, and acquaint thyselves with the 25-40 year old woman.

MORE DEETS PLZ!

I saw on your Twitter how much fun you had, bless. I'm glad you had a nice time. Did she play many songs you liked?

On a Kinsey scale of 1 to 6, how gay was it

I actually had to look up the Kinsey scale because I forgot which way it went. I'd probably grade it a 4. I think I was the only straight male in the ARTPOP Zone but it was equal amounts of women and men in there. Everyone was very nice too which was a plus.

I think the setlist was kind of reasonable considering it was a tour for ARTPOP. She still doesn't play Mary Jane Holland, which was extremely disappointing as it was one of my favourite songs from the album. But she did play Judas and paid Fashion! dust so I was extremely happy. Judas was one of my favourite Born This Way tracks. I really wish she played more of Born This Way overall but I've already seen all of that live so I wasn't too bothered by it. I least enjoyed Donatella and MANiCURE if I'm being completely honest. The whole introduction and ARTPOP live was truly sublime. I think ARTPOP and Venus are some of her best songs after seeing them live. I don't think they're better or as polished as songs appearing on TFM but they're still pretty damn fun songs. Everyone was jumping / bopping to every song though which I thought was different from the BTWB where only her big hits were the ones people were jumping along to.

The show overall was pretty good. The tone and theatricality of the show is very different to the Born This Way Ball. I think the BTWB was a much more operatic kind of show, if that makes sense, and it had a bigger sense of grandiosity. The artRAVE felt a bit more intimate bu comparison. I don't know if this was intentional or because she is inevitably less popular than previously, but it felt good regardless. She did tell us backstage she planned most of this tour while she was in bed after having her wisdom teeth out so that's why it all felt like it came about so quickly, she had a lot of time to plan.

The way the show flowed, I thought, was pretty exceptional. From beginning to end there were no breaks at all. She had interludes but it wasn't like you were just watching a video. The dancers continued to perform and many of them interacted with the audience or threw things like flashing plushies or toys or props or whatever. Everyone at my venue really got into the rave theme and one girl brought hundreds of glow sticks in our area so our whole circle was lit up really well.

But yeah the whole experience was pretty crazy. It was super colourful and very stimulating and the lighting was definitely miles ahead of her previous shows, I reckon. Apparently it's the same dude who does the Rammstein lighting? The whole show was very stimulating visually and there was so much going on, it was just really fun. There were rarely moments where you'd be standing still. This worked well but also terribly since sometimes you'd just be so exhausted but then one of your favourite songs would come on and you'd have to exhaustedly persist. The piano segment offered a great opportunity to cool down or just calm down I guess but then you were straight back into it.

She was very prompt unlike other reports. She took less than 30 minutes to come on stage after Starlight performed (by the way, she was much better and much cooler this time). After we were done, the arena was emptied (and the floor was literally covered in all kinds of confetti to the point where people were making snow angels in them) and we were escorted through to a backstage bar and lounge. We were offered heaps of drinks and food and whatnot while we were waiting for her. Most of us spoke to her team while we were waiting so the 30 minute wait for her to arrive went by pretty quickly.

When Gaga arrived she was pretty excited to see everybody. She wasn't energetic as she was on stage but she'd just sung for about two hours so I wouldn't expect her to be. She was very open and honest about everything that was asked of her. Some people asked some gossipy questions and she was visibly annoyed about them but she still answered them. She talked about depression and how she got through it. She talked about how important Cheek To Cheek was to her as an album and how much of a gentleman Tony was to her. I asked her what her favourite rumour was about her and she said "That I've got a huge dick". She said she was so surprised that people cared or thought it mattered whether she did or not. The app was discussed, where she more or less confirmed she wanted to do more with it but didn't in the end because of all that drama with her managers and whatever. She talked about the album, what she thought of it and what she originally planned to do with it all before the whole Troy thing happened. She talked about how she felt about leakers, whether she'd every work with a mega producer like Max Martin and some other stuff that escapes me right now.

I asked her about Paradise, and she mentioned that it wasn't on the album but she'd love maybe to put it out at the end of the year as a Christmas single. I also asked about the Cheek To Cheek tour she was planning and whether it would be global. She said she'd love to but it's all up to Tony because she didn't want to do it without him. I also asked whether she'd do a more intimate theatre kind of setup for it or a full on arena. She basically answered and said that it depends, but she'd love to do something more scaled back and intimate, but if a lot of people wanted to come to an arena show (ie. people buy the album I assume) then she'd love to do both too. But once again, she said it was all up to Tony.

She played us Firefly, Lush Life and Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered. She locked eyes with me and sang a whole verse of BBB to me so that was a bit nice but also a bit awkward because I didn't know where to look. But it was great. I admit that I don't know much about "vocalists" but she sounded great on the album. I remember Roy said she had a shit Jazz voice but I don't hear it but then again I am not too technical so I'd be happy to be educated on it. What I heard backstage was great.

The photos went well too (although I'm still waiting for them to arrive). She said she loved my shirt and she pulled me super close (>_>) when we were getting out photo so I think she liked me.

I don't really know what else I could say but she did mention that she hopes that she's got a degree of stability around her now that she can focus on finishing artRAVE, focusing on Cheek To Cheek and it's tour and pulling it all back together to deliver a fifth album.

It really was a great experience. As I said before, I'm sorry other people had shit times but I'm really thankful there was a big break before my show so she was very excited to get back on the stage and interact with fans.

Thanks for sharing all that Nem :) sounds like a really special experience, I'm so jealousssss. I've heard from friends who've met her that she's really sweet and open with fans and it's part of the reason she's my fave. Definitely doesn't take the industry approach toward her fandom like most pop stars do. I imagine people like Taylor Swift are similar.

Did hearing those songs make you any more excited for C2C? Or was it what you expected generally?

I'm not a huge fan of Jazz music but that's also probably because I never really dabbled in it, similar to how I was with pop music before I was dragged to a Monster Ball by a friend.

But hearing Firefly especially got me a little bit more excited for the album. Lush Life was, as I said, something very slow and christmassy but it wasn't my kind of thing. I really prefer upbeat kind of songs. I think songs like Firefly will appeal to me.

I'm definitely more keen on it after hearing those three tracks, but my excitement isn't as high as a full on, proper Gaga album.

I get the vibe she basically had to do this album for herself after all the furore surrounding ARTPOP. And I kind of respect that.

BBB will always be special now though ;_;

I had a nightmare where 1989 was delayed 😭

On today's long car journey I've listened to Days Are God and True Romance. Am currently listening to Night Time My Time. My favourite albums by white girls of 2013.

can we please talk about how, while work bitch is basically amazing, as a first single it was a real shitter for making us think britney jean would be blackout 2.0?

she said it was 'her most personal album to date'

I feel bad in retrospect that I actually thought it would be

I think Blackout is pretty unique for me in that I find it extremely difficult to listen to it without imagining 2007 Britney in my head in terms of her mental breakdown and stuff. It was the soundtrack to her life and her life as a soundtrack, so I think Blackout 2.0 would be very hard to replicate artifically... if this makes any sense

True. I respect anyone who takes a break from releasing pop singles/albums to make a fucking jazz album that their demo wouldn't be here for. That just means she's doing what she wants, and I'm always here for that.

Hopefully it gets her far enough away from the pop sphere that she comes back to it with something to prove again. ARTPOP was a solid/good pop album (weak for her) but it lacks purpose or punch. I need more HOLY SHIT moments from her still.

and yet we're still left with Work Bitch in all its flawless glory to enjoy for the rest of eternity.

Yeah, Blackout is greater than the sum of its parts because of the context at the time, so even if BJ had songs that were just as solid and dynamic as Blackout's, I doubt it would come close to having the same kind of impact. Blackout benefited from the undercurrent of "Oh wow Britney is damaged and tragic right now," and 2013 Britney was all nerfed up and medicated and fine so there's no edge or bite to it at all.

That said I do still love Work Bitch. lol

I think Blackout works because every song on the album except Why Should I Be Sad is a solid gold banger. The fact that she managed to put it out during a mental breakdown is impressive but it doesn't impinge on my enjoyment of the album.

C2C was recorded while she was working on and/or finishing up Artpop in '13. It was suppose to release shorty after AP. Ultimately C2C was delayed multiple times, probably due to AP failing to live up expectations.

She has been seen in the studio with Tony quite a bit post-ARTPOP, which is what I was referring to. Those "reshoots" she was doing for the album were the ones I was talking about. I think the project was shelved for a while and she chose to keep working on it after ARTPOP came out. At least that's the impression that was given.

Gahh I remember this photo coming out too:

And I was so hyped because I thought "omg Gaga's taking a sleek minimalist approach to her next album unlike the aural catapult that was Born This Way" but it just turned out to be Born This Way for bottoms

Sis, your anti-bottom agenda is transparent.

Get into being versatile.

So nobody asked her about ARTPOP Part Deux? Although I guess the mention of a fifth album answers that question, plus her mention of the managerial troubles and the abandonment of the app.
