Ps5 and Local ray Ray tracing for Ps5 ? Spiderman next gen ray tracing ?

So,

Local Ray is an Israel company who have allot fo patents on doing Ray tracing using lesss power. It is cross playform but there is information it has been taken up by one of the console manufacturers, to what extent we dont know. I am sure there are some surprises coming.

Reading up on it a little, I understand it does the procedure in reverse and I am assuming the local refers to an offset local co ordinate meaning that the engine can use half precision FP16, so you get can get much more performance. I am sure there are allot of other tricks in the 30 odd patents.

So, the information and pictures would suggest this is Sony as they have recently seemed to acquire spiderman in recent games, such as spiderman, miles morales and the upcoming avengers all exclusive.....and the images are quite clear and set in same as the Insomniac game.

This would mean we are in for a treat next gen with ray tracing.

Sony does not have the rights to Spiderman.

Both consoles will be able to do limited Ray Tracing at best on AAA games, especially open world without cut backs in resolution, framerate, and all sorts of other graphical effects. It's just too demanding. People should temper their expectations. However, i do expect the more powerful console to be more ray tracing capable as is expected.

If they use this local ray algorithm (or whatever it really is), possibly implemented in hardware idk, to significantly increase RT performance they'd have a game changer on their hands.
It's all just speculation though.

The thread is about LocalRay not how powerful you think your beloved box is. One day when we see a game actually running on XSX that is not Halo, You can discuss how well XSX runs games.

Mod of War Mod of War cant we even have a thread about Local Ray and new pictures of spiderman without constaint trolling, its insufferable. 3 trolls E eastwood333 MrFunSocks MrFunSocks and DeeDogg_ DeeDogg_ all came in to troll and trigger all posts. FFS.

They aren't the only one that figured out how to cut the cost for reflections:

"For the first time a Crytek game will feature ray tracing on Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro powered by CRYENGINE's proprietary software based ray tracing solution. "

I saw that. Surprised nobody created a thread about it. Very interested in seeing this in action.

makes sense, if it is software work around, and most if not all consoles developers WILL approach RT via such workaround.

the more powerful console will still do it better. i dont see the big deal. 🤷‍♀️

Are you really this insecure?

So go and make a thread about it then. Crytek are masters of voxels so it will be interesting what engines employ next gen for sure.

do you ever stop?

Stating both consoles with have limited Ray Tracing and that the more powerful console should be more capable of ray tracing is not controversial.

I mean, if you get that upset of me stating a simple fact, maybe you should be asking yourself that question?

Well you are the one crying about xbox in every thread that have nothing to do with xbox.

You are like the 7y old kid that have to say "bbbut my dad lifts more!"

Actually no, that kid is less annoying.

This is Sony thread about promising theory for good RT, spiderman looks nice.

More powerful doesn't means better, Xbox 1 x is more powerful than ps4 pro but it can't run Ghost of Tsushima or TLOU2. Similarly, if this ray tracing tech is owned by sony, xbox can't use that. It's simple as that.

I will say this the effects on that first video, when the lights go on and off, it is so beautiful.

damn, next generation is going to be so amazing, these effects are really going to SHINE.

Might be interesting if a smart combination of hardware and shaders-based software ends up getting the job done on consoles, but I just don't see enough evidence.

Also, "Of course, it will be better on the more powerful console. Don't forget Xbox >>> PS5!! LULZ"

Ok?

It's a win-win, actually. Either it's not in which case they gloat that the premise of the OP was wrong. Or it is, in which case they gloat that this proves that the PS5 can't do hardware RT, therefore it's just RDNA1, etc., etc.

Edit: in reality, it wouldn't mean anything about the hardware, obviously.

Then why would they choose Spider-Man when there is so many marvel heroes out there? His power isn't even related to ray tracing.

And in new york in 2020 which is associated with Sony, with 3 games now, Sony must have some agreement with Marvel (3 games and films) lol

I doubt LOcalRay went direct to Marvel and paid to use spiderman in a demo on Ray Tracing.

The forum has become insufferable. Every thread is about console wars, and if it wasn't started as such, it will become as such. And since trolls ruin xbox threads and sony threads alike, fans of both consoles end up doing retaliatory troll runs.

I'm sorry... But can people just confirm this video for me from the same channel??? It's a Sunday.

Is that RT on a fucking SMARTPHONE?
Fuck your tensor cores!

So a spiderman in game character set in new york in 2020, must be Nintendo then thats logical.

I am not saying it is not suspicious, but this fact alone doesn't proof anything. If it was accompanied with some kind of law, document, rule etc which will show that it is possible only because of deal with Sony, it would be undeniable. There are a lot of unofficial videos on YouTube featuring Spider-man (especially in kids section). Why couldn't it be just another case of fair use? All i am saying is there might be less interesting reason.

It's just so annoying, we have been staved off these kinds of interesting things for so long now, That eastwood dude is always complaining about sony people trolling and he is always fucking doing it himself.

He just came back from a ban and he is at it straight again.

He knows what he is doing and then tries to act all innocent.

Because the LocalRay company thermselves have announced they have a deal witha major console manufacturer and a major phone manufacturer that is under NDA.

So you have to work out if its Sony, Nintendo, MS in console space.

Difficult one really, I will have to do some 2 tailed statistical T-tests to work out the probability of the null hyportesis.

Sony as well as Microsoft have hardware for RT. Why the hell would they need to use a software based solution that can't take advantage of the hardware, especially when it needs to be fully integrated into the engine (according to the developers)?
Sony and MS have their own APIs for RT, hence I don't see why Sony would buy this. The big AAA studios will most likely make their own software solution if they ever need to. I don't see this being integrated into Decima for example.

Spiderman has been with Sony since the ps2, in games, exclusives, on the ps3 itself.
Spider-Man was on the N64, Gamecube, WiiU, original Xbox, Xbox 360 and also Xbox One. And yes, I'm talking about the actual Spider-Man games, not a beat em up. Spider-Man was with ALL of the consoles up until Spider-Man 2018.

Oh, I am blind. I somehow overlooked the fact they claimed to work with major console manufacturer.

That's not what i say.
Spiderman was used for the PS2/PS3 promotions by Sony and the fronts on PS3 are said to be based on Spiderman. Are you trolling or what?

the guy has been warned so many times, it like he wanted to get banned or something.

He adds nothing of value to this community, no technical stuff, no fun, no good banter just trying to ruin other people's fun for no reason.
