Origins is a PREQUEL to the first three Rayman games, released in 1995, 1999 and 2003. It tells the gripping story of Rayman and Globox's rise to fame.
The MOVE SET is designed to be rhythmic. Rayman and friends can jump, glide, slide and sprint through enemies and obstacles without missing a beat. With the right timing, you can cruise through most levels without losing momentum.
Origins features SIX UNIQUE UNIVERSES containing and over 60 INDIVIDUAL LEVELS.
Levels have MULTIPLE GOALS, such as collecting a specific amout of Yellow Lums, freeing hidden Electoons, or completing a speed run.
Optional, CHALLENGING PATHS are frequent throughout levels, usually containing imprisoned Electoons or a phat stash of Lums. Some require you to return with new abilities, some are meant only for players who don't suck.
THREE PHASES must be completed to see Rayman's ending. The first phase consists of five sets of levels, which must be tackled in a specific order. In the second phase, previous levels can be revisited and an additional four sets of levels is unlocked. Completion of the second phase unlocks the sixth, and final universe.
Q I don't have any friends, so I'll be playing solo. Will this game suck for me?
A Ubisoft claim to have designed the game with both solo and multiplayer in mind. Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies have identical abilities so you won't miss anything by playing on your own.
Q Is there a demo?
A Yes. A demo featuring three levels is now available on PSN and XBLA.
Q WTF, do they really expect me to pay $60 for a 2D platformer? Shouldn't this be a downloadable title?
A When Origins was first announced, it was intended to have episodic releases starting in late 2010, but Ubisoft decided to delay it for a year and develop it into a fully featured game. If $60 is too much for a 2D game, then wait for a price drop you dingus!
Q Be honest, this is a Ubisoft game, is it for babies?
A Origins is accessible, but challenging. There is not a limited amount of "lives", but Rayman and co. are very vulnerable to attacks. If they aren't shielded, they can die from a single hit. There are optional, more challenging goals intended for skilled players. Read the Ubisoft blog entry "10 Ways to Die" for a more comprehensive answer.
Q Is there any chance of Rayman Origins coming to PC?
A
