^ That's how I watched it from the get go so I laugh at the people underwhelmed with the graphics. Best looking RE, easily. Also, people are assuming too much. There are side characters in these games all the time. Leon or Jill could still be the main character, Grace may be a side character.

I strongly suspect the game will also feature Leon, and that will allow the game designers to 'mix up' the atmosphere and the gameplay.

Grace seems to have vulnerability and low confidence, sections of the game where you control her would likely be focused on generating "fear". Think of the Project Zero series and the recent Silent Hill F. Having a non-combat protagonist works brilliantly to make you crap your pants! I think Requiem is going to have some genuinely scary sections.

Playing as Leon wont be so scary but having him will allow the game designers to throw way more enemies at you and engage in the awesome gunplay that the series is known for.

I'd bet the farm that Grace is not the only playable character.

Where was the guy who so confidently claimed yesterday that SGF was too small fry for a RE9 announcement and that they've always been announced at PlayStation events? 🤣🤣🤣

lol at the full of shit leaks on this. Love how it seems to push the in your face visceral nature of 7, it has to be first person. Or perhaps it will bring Leon back in TPP as a more combat focused character? Mixed with pure horror as the FBI lady? I'm so in

He just made a Capcom appreciation thread and ignored how wrong he was lol. I tagged him. I guess Geoff offered more than Sony.

Switch 2 please
Mike Myers No GIF

The naming is clever, not just because the first three letters of Requiem are RE9 but also because the Q is kyu, which is nine in Japanese.

Well, there goes the idea of switch 2 getting proper 3rd party support. Same shit as usual with Nintendo platforms.

The last few years have been derisory for gaming with cross-gen, downgrades, and feature parity set at the lowest bar.

Let Nintendo do the amazing fun-to-play games they excel with, but don't hamstring games aimed at the higher end or the industry will continue to suffer.

I just want to know if it's first person or third person

Please be third person and have an extra mode for fixed camera angles 😁

I wonder if Capcom used these fake Leon and Jill shit to find out who leakers are.

Or did they just create those models for the play tests to confuse leakers lol.

I'm really glad they are going with a new lead. Pretty lady, classic RE areas, major update from past games visual wise. (The rain puddle in the city holy fuck)

Since it seems to be eluding to RE2, and the lead officer says she's the analyst, I'm assuming we will play as one other character.

It's either Leon or someone else. I think reapproaching the dual protagonist that made RE2 so popular is a great idea.
The majority of the game is played as Leon. Some parts as Grace.

"On-stage at SGF, host Geoff Keighley said Resident Evil Requiem marks a "bold shift for the franchise both in tone and gameplay." Expect "high-stakes cinematic action" on top of survival horror."

"Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth title in the mainline Resident Evil series.

Prepare to escape death in a heart-stopping experience that will chill you to your core.

A new era of survival horror begins in 2026. Technological advancements combined with the development team's depth of experience combine in a story with rich characters and gameplay that's more immersive than ever before."

I think it will be closer to RE7 in terms of theme/tone and gameplay than RE4-6. Which is what I want moving forward.

I guess we had two FP.. time for some new third person story ... do some variations. Dont think FP fans will be dismissive as third person fans... probably everyone who enjoyed village will play this and everyone who dosent like FP can enjoy too.

But than again they may be happy doing FP games so.. its up to them
lol, NO, we had 6 third person main games + all the other thirds person non mainline games, we just had 2 FP and its working greatly for RE, for reference only RE2 remake has sold more than RE7 and RE8 ( and thats because is fucking RE2 remake ), all other third person games had sold less copies, so there is no reason for them to go back to third person.

It's a good thing imo that they've actually acknowledged the Outbreak series by way of a protagonist connected to it.

If I recall, RE Fans have been pretty vocal about wanting an Outbreak 3 but its never been meant to be after so many years.

And they may not reveal Leon for some time(or whatever OGs are in it) to continue to build hype.

Or they could pull a MGS2 and not reveal it at all. I don't think Chris' presence was revealed for RE7 was it? I know it was for Village, but not sure on 7.

Worth noting that the destruction of RC wasn't as 'destructive' as the original RE3's nuclear explosion.

There's a very good amount of buildings still standing and some of them are in pretty decent shape.

Would not be surprising if this retcons that there were a lot more survivors.

--

It's either that, or we're looking at attempts to resettle or recreate a different city adjacent to the original RC's crater, like how FFVII Advent Children had the city of Edge made right next to Midgar after VII's events.

This sounds exactly like re6. And why is Geoff Keighley still there? This guy looks more sleepy than Joe. Here is my Geoff impression:
"eehhh... Uhhh.. Gaming ehhh... And euhhh... ".

I am impressed on the effort of trying to make things look pretty messed up in good attention to detail. Last time we saw ground zero RC was in Outbreak's epilogue.

I want to know what places will be visited or focused upon here (excluding RPD).

Wouldn't it be so fucking awesome if we also revisit the site of the Spencer Mansion?

I mean if they want to do 30th anniversary fan service, that would be so cool.

No because they've replicated it multiple times already in the series. It's been done to death.

We haven't revisited any of these post-RE3 tho, I can see a scenario that they have to go back there to find something in the destroyed underground labs as part of the story mcguffins.

I would love to visit the Training Facility from 0 and the Spencer Estate again in potential REmakes for full graphics whoring. Good things come to those who wait as they say!

Ah, I only see the 3rd person tag on my end.

They added a third person mode to their last flagship game post-release. That's pretty much all you need to know.

This is most likely going to be a third person OTS game like RE2make/RE4make.

It was retreaded in RE5 lost in nightmares, with a fixed camera option even; all the mansions are basically copies of each other, so if spencer kept anything important in one of them, he probably had it all in all of them.

Multiple small but dense open worlds (incl. Racoon City) as locations you visit would be ideal, perhaps intertwined with and sometimes partly consisting of both linear and wide-linear sections.

It would be cool to have both 1st and 3rd person modes/characters. But I know not all the fanbase likes fpv.

compared to other games only RE2 remake sold more than the 1st person games, so, it seen that the fanbase is pretty happy with 1st person.

RE4 remake is the fastest selling game. Village has a third person mode and the DLC is third person only, they didn't even make a first person mode for it.

The fanbase is happy with good games but Capcom are clearly leaning more towards TPS.

I like the whole vampire and werewolves aspect of 8. This one looks like a lot of modern motifs so I'll have to see more.
