sounds exactly like the israel thing a few years ago.. where there was footage of 'israeli soldier firing on a man and his child.. killing them both'

turns out.. it wasnt the israeli soldier that killed them.. only a portion of the footage had been shown on bbc, and the rest of the world.. i believe some french journalist uncovered the rest.. but it was too late, and the damage had been done..

so.. we should definitely close the bbc.. since it supports lies.

hell.. how about fox news? they are constantly broadcasting misleading news stories and fear-mongering. if a democrat gets elected, the first thing they should do is have the government shut down the station!!

Well, for me all american new channels should be close as the only thing they broadcast is shit and lies. So happy i don´t leave in america so I don´t care.

And for your information I´m not saying on my post that they should be close (reading comprehension ftl) just saying that they were probably helping the coup d´etat and that is a punishable thing BY LAW.
Anyway, they are lucky the didn´t get kill or bombed as is normally the thing that happens when you go against a dictator...amirite?

and i was reading recently about the extra footage uncovered.. which no station will show..

so.. can you tell from the original footage where the bullets are coming from?

its kinda like that image of the bloodied palestinian with the angry israeli soldier behind him.. remember that?

turns out the bloodied palestinian was an american jew, and the israeli soldier was trying to defend him.

i never said he was a dictator, and the discussion was about the closing of the station, so unless you implicitly said in that other post that you didnt think the station should be closed, there was no other way for me to know that. english ftw!

anyway, what country do you live in? i really want to know about the superior news channels of your country since only lies and shit seem to be broadcasted in the US.

here we go.. http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewForeignB...gnBureaus\\archive\\200502\\FOR20050215c.html

Paris (CNSNews.com) - A French journalist and an independent film producer who saw raw, unedited video of the shooting of a Palestinian boy in 2000 said it's not possible for the boy to have been shot by Israeli soldiers, as a French TV report claimed.

Ever since the footage was first aired, the Israeli army has been unable to confirm or deny that it was responsible for the child's death. But in 2002, a German television documentary concluded that Palestinian and not Israeli gunfire killed the boy. When they viewed the footage, Leconte and Jeambar came to the same conclusion.

Spain and after seeing some american channels (of course not all) they are total shit. Murders, criminals (normally black criminals), atrocities and all that. Exploiting the fear to the max.

sadly our channels have been growing in to that state in the last 5 years so now they are almost like USA ones (but at least they trown some funny youtube videos in there sometimes :p )

The dictator part wasn´t mean for you.
I was statin some facts about the station for this people shouting "dictator" "censor" and shit. Letting them now a bit of culture before they state anything as "fact".

EDIT:

Maybe you should check the whole story before posting like that. Evend the Israeli stated that it wasn´t possible to determine who could have killed the boy as the were on the middle of an improvised battlefield and some people even think that the boy wasn´t killed.

Channels like that should be fined for broadcasting lies and bullshit.

um. did you read the whole story? i even quoted the part you are talking about..

the israeli army never saw the complete footage. in 2002, a german documentarist saw the footage. and then later the french journalist saw the footage. the israeli army still hasnt seen the complete footage because it has not been released to the public.

Here are some of the restrictions on the enabling law:

Seems like nationalization could be seen as a pretty clear expropriation of private property. I understand if the oil corporations gained ownership of the land unfairly, but it's pretty hypocritical. I doubt other countries would be happy if the United States started seizing all property belonging to their citizens and companies.

Well, who are you to decide if that´s rigth or not? 6 years is the normal period in there and if he wanted to make changes and the people don´t like it next time of elections he will be thrown out.
Are you American? did Bush asked you to attack Irak? did he asked you to start confrontations with Iran? did he asked you people to make those anto-terrorist laws that claim for Human rigths? Sometimes people choose a president thinking is gonna do good things and he totally fuck up. But they choose him. Thats how the world works.

And your hint at fraud...man I wish you really could give some facts and not make them as you write.
that link....what do you mean with it? do you even read spanish? I´ll translate something from you from that article that makes you point about fraud totally fake.

El candidato opositor Manuel Rosales alcanzó el 38,39%.

The opposite candidate take almost a 40% of the votes, how it´s that wrong??? a 60% choose Chavez, isn´t that what democracy means?

Oh yes I am from Puerto Rico (american), 'pixel perfect' spanish =). And I am ME and I decide whatever I think is right or not, same as you my dear friend. (this btw is free liberty of thinking whatever the fuck I want, without fear of getting killed by a dictator).

It has been history that leaders decide whatever they want, but there is a difference you aren't seeing. Yes, Bush started the war, but unlike a communist country here you can complain whenever you want without fear of getting killed. And the elections are every 4 years.... not 6 years, it gives you more time to kick out whoever is working like shit (Bush... please GTFO). The leaders either try to do good for a country or fuck it up.

Also, search Google about Chavez Frauds, as you probably think there's this huge conspiracy that Bush himself ordered the Twin Towers to be destroyed and enjoy reading about that, why don't you search Chavez Fraud Elections in 2006, you will also read a lot of conspiracies and theories. I think he did win.

Plus, media can be twisted as other lefties have said. "No possibility of fraud"... there always is fraud, and it doesn't seem too intelligent to elect a leader the Venezuelans kicked themselves off the country for being such an asshole.

Its useless to argue against the brainwashed lefties here. Hell I was even called a peasant, thought that feels better than being called an asshole =P. Still, it's a known fact for the last 150 years: Communism or Socialism just leads to the shit bin.

How would you guys feel if you study for 5 years (if you can even study), try and land a job, work, and then have your money taken away to be shared? Yes, Capitalism works in a similar way, but people can move up in a 'ladder', not stay living the same for all their freaking lives under control of a crazy asshole (like Chavez is). Imagine that because of a whim, the TV station you worked is closed?

The media is free speech, in media you should be able to say whatever you want! Yeah, you can call upon a coup!!! In a democracy you will get scolded bla bla blah, but a dictator (like Chavez is becoming) can eliminate that free speech (look at Cuba).

You can also imagine NeoGAF getting closed because there are communists or socialists or anything, by let's say Chavez. Free speech is important my dear friends, open your closed minds. Stop accusing the media of brainwashing. Or just shut up and read your Marx books, worship Che Guevara, kiss Fidel's butt, put a shrine with Hitler as good... etc. (and yes... what i just said is FREE SPEECH, like it or not, thank you).
That works well in Sweden. I'm still shocked at how many people have no idea about socialism. I just cant belive the ignorance of people today :lol

Edit: The big diffrence in USA vs Sweden is that we have better social security, higher standard of living and don't promote war.

In the US, our "paper of record" and our network news channels are apparently biased in the negative towards a single political party. One channel was found to have completely fabricated a negative story about our President during an election year. Should these news organizations be severely-fined or shut down?

On another note, should anyone who attempts to successfully-spin or profit from a coup attempt be ostracised for life and removed from media exposure? I patiently-await the non-contradictory responses to these innocent questions from the apologists in this thread.

What I'm curious about is whether or not the Venezuelan government compensated the oil companies whose assets were nationalized earlier this year. Does anyone know the answer to that?

Don´t judge that fast, I´m just saying that there is a lot of people in here talking nosense and facts that they blow out of their ass with no knowledge on the subject.

the only think I know is that the term is 6 years there by CONSTITUTION and that means is legal. They can have a referundum to throw "El Presidente" at the middle of the term (does american legislation contemplate that?).

The elecions were supervised by the EU, they said there is no fraud and you point me to google Chavez fraud...who´s the tinfoil hat here man?

Well try to go and shout "Heil Hitler" on Germany, "Gora ETA" "Fuck the king" on Spain and something about al-qaeda on USA.

In the 3 cases you´ll probably be fined (In Spain as i know you´ll easily end in jail)

Why they don´t show porn at the TV on midday? that should be free spech.

And what I mean is the press trying to lie to the public on a National security Issue or manipulation of the information in a bigg manner (a coup d´etat and they say nothing? that´s madness) should be at least fined, hell even phone companies had to pay fines for lying to the customers with new offers and all that, why don´t they get it as well?

What can't you say about al Qaeda in the US? And porn is an FCC issue, not a free speech issue per-se. You can show porn (in the US) on cable, or in magazines, on the internet, on video, and in theaters, whenever you want.

Newspapers and other news outlets publicize leaked classified information that involves national securtiy almost every day in the US. Should those networks be closed-down or massively-fined in your opinion?

The Freedom of speech it´s very clear on this particular subject:

# Sedition: speech or organization (vs Freedom of Assembly) that is deemed as tending toward insurrection against the established order. Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontent (or resistance) to lawful authority. Sedition may include any commotion, though not aimed at direct and open violence against the laws.
# Treason: to talk publicly of the death of all countrymen or the overthrow of the government

Chavez is does tend to say very dumb things, but he is doing a lot of good for his country. So much so that Most of latin America is shifting to the left because of him. You people want to talk about fraud and corruption? Read up on most latin american presidents and their goverments (fun times). Chavez is a saint compared to many of those presidents.

And as for him being a dictator, yeah it could happen. Just like the U.S attacking Iran could happen too. Anything is possible in this world (like attacking a country based on lies told by the goverment, regime change for oil ftw).

Quoted for the truth. Lula used this same strategy to get reelected. And, ding, ding, ding, it worked like a charm. The motto is "I don´t care if he´s corrupt, a liar or incompetent, while I´m receiving my share (and by share I mean here basic stuff like food and home) I´ll vote for him".
And posing as a "man of the people", despite being millionaire also works very well too.

I don´t know about Venezuela, but Bolivia paid far less then the real value for Petrobras assets. And since Evo Morales and Chavez are pals that think alike I don´t expect anything diferent. Of course here we have Lula as president, who besides being Morales and Chavez pal, is a wuss that accepted this crap smiling.
I can see things being different if the governments of these oil companies´ countries aren´t composed with spineless douches.
Well, could be worse Chavez told that "Brazilian government should give Petrobras assets for free as a goodwill gesture for the poor people of Bolivia".

Hey look it's the usual americans who are so brainwashed by their corporate media that prefer to defend a fucking monarch than a democratically elected leader because he's a socialist. And what the corporate media and bullshit Hollywood movies have taught us? Communism and socialism IZ EVIL, kings are strong and brave!
Chavez is a man of the plebs who has the manner of a pleb. It's fine to disagree with the previous administration in Spain and it's fine to say you disagree with them. But as a world leader I think you owe it to everyone to have the tiniest ounce of fucking tact and know when to zip yer lip. So having said that I'm going to lol at a guy that's a world leader that's so petulant he has to be undressed publicly by a largely unimportant political figure and you can suck my fucking balls if you have a problem with that. I'm also going to lol at his fanboys that feel like showing up and defending him all the time, even when he looks like a dumbass like now. This has nothing to do with defending monarchs, who are pretty high up there on the "lol things to lol at in Europe" list.

As for Socialism / Communism / I'm a bourgeois white kid in collegeism I can't speak for my countrymen because I'm not them but I will always, always be averse to the entire family of red flag-wavers. It's not because I was brainwashed by the evil U.S. media, or even because I think free market economics is the be-all, end-all of solving the world's problems. It's because my grandfather was at Katyn Forest. Is it fair to negate an entire, diverse ideology like that because of the actions of one splinter of it that was fucking retarded? Absolutely not. Is it rationally irrational? You bet. I'm always willing to negotiate but it'll be a cold day in hell before I fall in line with the drones and spout any of those party lines verbatim or tolerate people that do.

And since you decided to be your usual troll self, here's something in turn. Why don't you worry about your own shitty country that's gripped with such idiocy and shittiness that fires can absolutely ravage it in the year 2007 instead of obsessing about another shitty country and the idiots that live in it when you'll most likely never spend any significant time there or interact with them beyond commerce, entertainment and message boards?

That depends. "Something bad" is, if I remember correctly, defined by law as insults to the royal family that damage their honour. You can reason, like any republican in Spain does, that monarchy is unnecessary, and say so protected by freedom of speech. But if you say that the queen is a whore and the king a lazy drunk that supports fascist regimes, you can be sued. Threats are also obviously illegal.

Apart from that, I think every citizen has the right to sue if their honour is damaged unfairly and they can prove it. That happened with politicians that were accused of being corrupt by the opposition, they used that law to sue with no intervention from their own party.

About the "gora ETA", any public act of apology for a terrorist group is illegal. A man was sued for wearing a Bin-Laden t-shirt close to the 11-M bombings, but has been declared non-guilty since it wasn't considered a public act of apology.
