Chavez is a man of the plebs who has the manner of a pleb. It's fine to disagree with the previous administration in Spain and it's fine to say you disagree with them. But as a world leader I think you owe it to everyone to have the tiniest ounce of fucking tact and know when to zip yer lip. So having said that I'm going to lol at a guy that's a world leader that's so petulant he has to be undressed publicly by a largely unimportant political figure and you can suck my fucking balls if you have a problem with that. I'm also going to lol at his fanboys that feel like showing up and defending him all the time, even when he looks like a dumbass like now. This has nothing to do with defending monarchs, who are pretty high up there on the "lol things to lol at in Europe" list.

As for Socialism / Communism / I'm a bourgeois white kid in collegeism I can't speak for my countrymen because I'm not them but I will always, always be averse to the entire family of red flag-wavers. It's not because I was brainwashed by the evil U.S. media, or even because I think free market economics is the be-all, end-all of solving the world's problems. It's because my grandfather was at Katyn Forest. Is it fair to negate an entire, diverse ideology like that because of the actions of one splinter of it that was fucking retarded? Absolutely not. Is it rationally irrational? You bet. I'm always willing to negotiate but it'll be a cold day in hell before I fall in line with the drones and spout any of those party lines verbatim or tolerate people that do.

And since you decided to be your usual troll self, here's something in turn. Why don't you worry about your own shitty country that's gripped with such idiocy and shittiness that fires can absolutely ravage it in the year 2007 instead of obsessing about another shitty country and the idiots that live in it when you'll most likely never spend any significant time there or interact with them beyond commerce, entertainment and message boards?

:lol Thank God someone bumped up the thread so I could read this post. Are you hurt or something that's why you're trying so hard to insult me? Because unlike your typical nationalist or "proud to be *insert country*" who gets insulted every time someone makes a observation about his country I've already said much worse about mine so please try your best, I'm too objective to take it personally.

But what's incredibly ironic is that you comment on an elected leader of another country while you tell me to "worry about my own shitty country". Hilarious. Sorry but if you're hurt that I said "usual americans" you should take a look at this and other threads/forums to realize that the vast majority of people that irresponsibly call Chavez a dictator (amongst other accussations) are americans.

Perphaps you didn't realize that I wasn't generalizing in that sentence for all americans (since there are plenty who defend Chavez) -maybe that's why you're so hurt- I was just making an observation about the people who attack Chavez and coincidentaly happen to repeat the propaganda and bullshit of the american media.

The communists and socialists are feeling THE PRESSURE!!! They are saying stupider things every day hahaha. Sorry guys, you lose the conversation....

Chavez IS a dictator that has some wild goals or ambitions, he has PROBLEMS, he's not a "pleb" man, if he were a pleb man he wouldbe living in a wooden house in some kind of alley, but no... he isn't! See? He's living quite comfy while half his country starves.

And wassup with the "evil US media"? WTF? That makes no sense, every country will try and put news on their favor, but then again we have the internet, we can read whatever we want, the media excuse is not valid these days (aside from the fact thats its the only defense the lefties can pull out).

You guys, before spitting more bullshit, why not go and live in Cuba or Venezuela for a year or two in the same conditions most people are living there and tell me if its good. Then spit all the senseless bullshit you want.

No no you don't understand--Chavez is so beloved he needs to ruthlessly crush the voicing of any and all opposition because to hear anything negative about their hero would just emotionally-devestate the poor folks of Venezuela, who are already in a bad state purely because of the imperialist oppression of the evil imperialists who want to take away their beloved Chavez who you can't say anything negative about because he's so beloved. You talk about living well, but because you're so brainwashed by imperialist propaganda you don't see that it's the poor who live well due to his policies and not in spite of those policies, and since it's the poor who live well by Chavez being filthy rich he's really living in the equivalent of a shack because it's the poor who live well and not the rich who Chavez doesn't like because he's a poor peasant boy who resonates with the people and that's how he was popular because he doesn't like coups and a coup attempt had nothing to do with him being popular, it's just because he was a peasant and that can't happen in America because Americans are rich and therefore evil not like Chavez who is living rich in a country where the rich are hunted for sport, and therefore is like totally poor-ish.

the way you constantly accuse anyone defending chavez of being communist/socialist is getting really stale and annoying.

it's true, most people like me can't really know how things really are in venezuela without experiencing it first hand. but at the same time, i wouldn't want to say that one person's perspective is more 'right' than another's because they're blessed with living there. all i know is that chavez is a blowhard douchebag that seems to be in love with himself and constructing this 'robin hood' propaganda and iconography. but he doesn't appear to be the evil supervillain that's going to seize everybody's freedom and steal their children, either. let's try to be a little more rational, less baseless assumptions guys.

Again. Chavez is no where as bad as many of you guys make him out to be. Just because Venezuela is fellating U.S interest like many other countries are doesnt make the Venezuelan goverment bad. Hell, the goverment is helping out many other latin american countries and have even started up Banco del sur with is set up to start development south america.

Chavez says dumb things yes. I have many venezuelan friends who can confirm that Chavezs system screws over certain people. But even they laugh when people call him a dictator.

I get the feeling that many in this thread wish that Cuba, Bolivia, Venezuela, and other left leaning latin Amercian all behaved like PR.

A lot of the Chavez defenders can barely construct an argument without using the words Fox News and Bush. I am always baffled as to why people defend authoritarian and totalitarian leaders. It doesn't matter if you are left or right, the more centralized the power, the more fucked their constituents are.

Oh well, in 10 years when we have to go down and have to give out food aid to Venezuelans, we won't hear a peep from the Chavez fanboys. I'm sure by then they will have found some other leader to rabidly defend online.

I don't have to read this whole thread. But I will say times like these makes me so proud to be Spanish! That backwater little fat guy doesn't even have manners and the King put him in his place. I dislike Zapatero and what he's done as much as the next guy, but don't interrupt continually.

Chavez is such a Fidel wannabe. The difference is that Fidel for all the bad that he is and was, was always very intelligent and well educated. Chavez is just a blundering idiot and Zapatero and the king made him look that way.

Listen to the whole thing carefully while Zapatero tell him they can disagree politically in a civil way and without disrespect. However he continues to disrespect. That guy is an animal with clothes!.

I don't understand the animosity towards Chavez. What basis do all of you have for this hatred against his government?

Is it the fact that he's a lower-middle class peasant who was democratically elected by the majority of Venezuelans? Is it that we could never have such a democratic president? Ours must go to Yale, join some secret society, and have ties to the Bin Laden family.

Is it the fact that his administration persists despite George W. Bush's attempt to stage a coup d'etat in 2002? Chavez returned to office after millions of Venezuelans protested in Caracas. In the States we rally in protest, but it isnt FOR our president.

Or is it the fact that Chavez trumpets Noam Chomsky at the UN, showing that at least some of our world leaders are well read. I wonder if Bush even knows who Chomsky is.

Or is it the fact that you have Chavez because you're told to - by the same imbeciles, liars and criminals who told you that Saddam Hussein has nuclear weapons?

Look - I'm not supporting Chavez's socialist policies. But I do support his government, which was democratically elected. I'm against the massive propaganda campaign targetting his government, trying to paint it as some sort of Marxist-Leninist revival (dictatorship, etc., etc.). It's simply ridiculous.

I can see legitimate reasons to disagree with Chavez's policies - but in my mind, we would be so lucky to have him as our president.

Actually, I believe it's his WAY OVER THE TOP approach to politics that is turning people off. Every sentence he utters about the US or any major western country has to be so freaking dramatic. After a while it starts to get old and repetitive. Don't get me wrong, it was funny and all when he was the new guy on the block who wasn't afraid of the big bad wolf and was willing to say what was on his mind. But now that he's in complete and utter control of Venezuela and it looks like he's ensured his stay in power (so much for that democracy, huh?) it just seems so childish whenever he goes on a rant just for the sake of ranting. The man had his mic turned off for being rude and disruptive. He kept trying to yell and cause a scene?

Calling Aznar a fascist a couple fo years after he was voted out of office? *sigh*
What purpose does that serve?

Remember when he said he still smelled sulfer after Bush had spoken at the UN? Though very entertaining, it was very childish.

I think he learned a lesson from that one. He's got to be a little more reserved if you want to be taken seriously on the world stage. Of course he'll be prone to relapses as demonstrated in the above article, only because habits are hard to break.

Also, one of the greatest and well-known presidents we've ever had came from very humble beginings.. Abraham Lincoln.

As far as Chavez' politics.. I can apppreciate certain things he's done for his countrymen.. But shutting down of TV stations and turning Venezuela into a COMMIE STATE is not a good thing.

You can tell he does not understand half the words that Zapatero is telling him, so he must continue to insult. He is taking his country backwards and his excuse is always the U.S., Bush, and the West. When the reality is I don't think President Bush ever listens to anything he says and they just wave him off, if even. That probably gets under his skin, but the truth is he is likely a nobody to Bush! :lol

And as for his attempts to create a communist nation: I don't believe it will work in the long run. The he will again blame the U.S. for his ignorance.

Vitet; I'm not sure what the exact policy is but I think you should remove the middle-left gif just to be sure. I think it's based on a meme which is considered racist by US people here.

'Shut up' Chavez is ringtone hit
The king of Spain's recent undiplomatic outburst at the Venezuelan president has become a ringtone hit across Spain.

An estimated 500,000 people have downloaded the insult featuring the words "Why don't you shut up?", generating a reported 1.5m euros ($2m).

King Juan Carlos asked Hugo Chavez to "shut up" at a summit in Chile last week after the president said Spain's ex-PM Jose Maria Aznar was a "fascist".

Branded mugs, t-shirts and websites featuring the row are also profitable.

In Venezuela, a group of students who oppose Mr Chavez's government have also been downloading the ringtone, a US newspaper reported.

"It's a form of protest," a 21-year-old student in Caracas told the Miami Herald. "It's something that a lot of people would like to tell the president.
"

Companies selling the ringtones have avoided legal problems concerning breach of the king's image rights by using an actor to voice the line.

[...]

Too bad we can't set up some sort of exchange program between Venezuelan and American students.

hehe, the Spanish King...? Barely knew he existed, evidently he does if he can say 'shut up.'

Oh well, he is a Borboun...read you history...

I think what he said was a stupid, and also the fact that the talks with Spain went nowhere...although why would they send the King, an irrelevant figurhead

As for people saying go live in Venezuela...Ive been there quite a few times and have alot of friends there...what ever alot of peeps say on here, he is undoubedly doing some stuff for the poor...the is a fact...Actually a Venezuelans friend just visited last weekend, she was working on a sociology project, internationally funded, with some empoverished groupds....this girl stayed with us some months previously and was very critical of Chavez...but getting involved in the projects, she told us how the poor people were beginning to mobolize for themselves...planting crops, getting representatives etc..stuff is changing...

On the RCTV thing, they just didnt renew the license, it is legal...it wasnt a particularly popular move I think, but the channel was pure shit, soap operas etc....incidently, they replaced it with a participation created content channel...it hasnt really taken off, but to me it seems a more interesting application

Im certainly no particular fan of chavez, but I give him the benefit of the doubt so far, considering he is willing to implement some wide spread social change....its not surprising he has enemies... Honestly, here in the UK, there are just as many people pissed off with the way politics is going here

If you click that link, and you know a lot of spanish, you will found out how that motherfucking king, who told chavez to shut up, supported the dictatorship of jorge rafael videla.

So, why did you shut up?

Fucking prick.
This thread turned into a discussion about dictatorship, but it was really about the king just telling him to shut up. You revived the thread for no reason.

I just wanted to point how he had no right to tell chavez to shup up.

Im not a chavez supporter, but if you supported a dictatorship that is responsible for the disappearance of 30.000 people, you have NO right to tell anybody to shut up is they are accusating your president of being a facist!

...unless your president isnt a facist. Your logic is he supported a dictator so he cant say anything contrary to anyone ever.

Not to anyone ever! He still can argue, the point is, if you supported a dictatorship/facist regime OPENLY, even taking a picture in a visit (i have it in a magazine, i'll ve taking a picture of it later), why do you feel offended or why do you feel the urge to tell someone to shut up when apparently you had no problem with dictatorships and facism 30 years ago..?
