Steam Summer Sale 2015 thread of refunding everything you buy (June 11-21)

What mutiplayer FPS would you recommend? I haven't played one in a long time, how is Arma 3 multiplayer? any others I should look at? I already have CS and all its variations.

shhh Graham I'm still compiling this Radiant map
How does it compare to the other dragonball games? I'm really tempted to get that.

I'll be honest and say I haven't played many of the older ones. But as a Dragon Ball fan, I'm content. Combat is fun, it moves quickly and controls well, plenty of flashy moves to bust out. It hits all the right notes. I'm looking forward to tackling quests later with a friend.

Also, you can do Ginyu Force poses. The dream.

So Fallout New Vegas is 2,49€ on Steam and it's a fully working stand alone game right? Might pick it up.

Other than that there's literally tons of games on sale, but can't decide if I should buy anything.

Gameplay wise it is below Budokai 3, Shin Budokais and Burst Limit, but above everything else (also apples to oranges since it's a 3D brawler rather than 2D fighter). In letting you customize your character and their moveset, it is amazing

I'm getting this error.

Anyone getting the same? Happens right after I click checkout. Was working fine yesterday.

It happened to me a few times in the past when I was buying too much. Like an autoblock that lifts itself within a few hours or a day.

Before the sale ends is there something in the vein of Dungeon Defenders kicking about unnoticed?

Me and the boy are currently enjoying DD but 2 doesn't currently offer controller support. We're looking for something easy to play, controller supported, local Co op.

I already have (off the top of my head):
Magicka
Monaco
Sonic ASRT
Many Lego Games
Portal 2
Battleblock Theatre
castle Crashers

...thanks.

I love it, but it's not the kind of game to put on for an hour or so, you have to invest a good amount of time to join up with a good squad before you travel to the front-lines and there's a lot to learn if you haven't played before. Also, it's very slow paced, with bursts of intense firefights. Watch some videos of the coop missions of Invade and Annex for an idea.

Have you tried Sanctum? It says partial controller support and co-op (don't know if this means local or not), but it's the same style of game as DD.

The Obscure games are a less obvious choice, also Rayman Origins & Legends.

Yeah that's what I though, I think I'll look for something where I don't need a lot of time to acclimate myself.

The Rayman games are incredible. My gf and I absolutely loved them and even 100%'d both of them.

Maybe Westerado? I bought it the other day to play on single player, but I noticed it also has co-op and it might be fun.

Oh and there's also the Trine games. I don't love them, but my gf does, and they're well known for their coop.

I'm surprised there have been no mentions of Insanity's Blade, which is down to $2.69 during this sale.

So far, it's an AWESOME retro style game. Nice balance between 8- and 16-bit. It is surprisingly good. Most of these "retro" games on Steam are cheap junk, but this is something people actually would've liked in the Genesis/SNES era.

It's on my clean up list as I wait for cards to sell, how would you compare it to Volgarr? Perhaps not fair but it's my standard for this kind of throwback game more so than Shovel Knight.

I also have Castle in the Darkness on that list.

So far - and keep in mind, I'm still early in - Insanity's Blade is much easier than Volgarr. However, I'm playing on "normal" difficulty. For all I know, it's super hard on one of the higher difficulty levels. Graphically, Volgarr is comparable to Rastan or other arcade games from that era - whereas, Insanity's Blade looks like a very souped-up 8-bit game or early 16-bit game with extra effects that probably weren't possible at the time, and I mean that in the best way.

I've been playing a solid amount of Insurgency recently. It's a lot slower paced than most FPS, which works great for me because I'm pretty bad at the super fast arcadey shooters. It's very tactical, there's a lot of walking around corners with ADS pulled up, smoke grenades are key when trying to cross open areas, checking your corners is important, etc. It's going for $3.75 on Steam right now so it's dirt cheap.

My haul:

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
Metro Redux Bundle
Homeworld Remastered Collection
Prison Architect
Valkyria Chronicles
Dead Space 2
Company of Heroes 2: The Western Front Armies
A bunch of Payday 2 DLC.

Eh... spent a bit more than I intended.

Hmm that's a shame. Graphically it looks great but I was hoping for something as meticulously well thought out as Volgarr.

What do you mean by meticulously well thought out?

I've only played the first stage and boss thus far, so these are hardly long-range impressions.

In the first stage, there's at least one multiple path that I've discovered.

I don't think the boy will appreciate an Obscure game. Looks a little scary for a young 'un :D

I already have Trine and Trine 2, we should give those a go.

I did want Westerado for myself but thought I'd hold out until the next sale. I'll quickly look into how the coop is, might warrant a purchase.

Hey man, check out Forced! I had a good time couch co-oping a few chapters of it, pretty great co-op. Very 4 Swords like if you have played that before.

"You already own this game" ...well damn, better give that a go.

We've also played most of the newer Rayman games together.

Thanks for the help, all <3

Hey gaf, its time to get Schoolar of First Sin now or wait for a sale of Dark Souls 2 bundle (the base price is lower in DS2 bundle) ?

How many things are upgraded in SoFS ?

The story of SOFTBANS when using mods like Durantefix is real?

To tell the true, I will not play the game now because I need finish DS1 before. Plus, my pc is a notebook with a core i7 + gf 640m, the original DS2 maybe run better than SoFS...

Did they ever update Jade Empire on Steam to the not-shit GOG version?

Looking at the game's Steam forums - it doesn't seem like they did. Should be easily fixable though.
Valdis Story is really good, great combat and exploration.

The devs also added quite a bit of stuff for free post release.

Haven't played Randal's but...

I'd go Valdis Story. It's great bang for buck even at $7, but GOG still has it at 75% off for next 4 hours.

Valdis Story is the best combat focused Metroidvania on Steam. I'd go for that.
Out of that list I have only played Jade Empire but I really enjoyed the game on PC. Played through the title via backwards compatibility on Xbox 360 a long time ago and playing through the PC version a bit last year and also this year it was clear just how much better this version is. Also, GoG has it for $2.99:
http://www.gog.com/game/jade_empire_special_edition

Sadly I missed out on the deal for GOG and also I just don't get anything from GOG anymore these days since I tend to like the convenience of having my entire collection in one place. Bound to Steam we are.

Thanks for all the feedback people, but I'm finding it really hard to justify paying so much for games that I know have been cheaper in the past (both 75% off and around 3 bucks) and that I'm not *too* hyped up on playing immediately with my already monstrous backlog. Considering passing on all of them and picking up Ethan Carter instead...

edit: Screw it. Went with Jade Empire after all, not sure if I'd really enjoy Ethan Carter's 'walking simulator' aspect, despite the occult mysteries being a huge draw. Still on my wishlist but gonna hold out for a bigger price drop.

I tried some copy paste of links solution in community section but that didn't work :(

I just double dipped on RE6 for $7.50. I've already played the game to death on 360 but the promise of the RE6 combat system at 1080p60 was too much for me to pass up. Quite possibly my favorite shooter of last gen. I figure worst case scenario if I don't end up playing it in the next few weeks I can request a refund.

Capcom games last gen on PC were great. RE6 looks good at 1080p60fps, you could probably downsample it from even higher res with modern graphic cards, the engine runs super great like other MTframework games. Game is hella fun too.

I have an R9 280X so probably won't be able to downsample, but I'm sure it'll look great regardless at 1080p. :)
