But Slayven is right. Elba is "the" black actor right now, so he comes up often. There's a number of others - Terry Crews, Michael B. Jordan, and Djimon Hounsou - but everybody knows Elba.

Just went to trivia night with some roommates (hispanic guy, white girl). Naturally I got all of the videogame questions right. They came to the movie section and were describing them through songs. They basically played "Fight the Power" and my roommates were trying to guess the movie name, but couldn't.
Then they were like "Uhh, Spike Lee directed..Something about a pizza place" then looked at me and I knew it was "Do the Right Thing" despite having NEVER seen it before, and yet they weren't surprised (in fact they expected me to know)
I dunno how I feel about this...Reminds me of another time I was on a trivia team way back and my clutch movie answer was "House Party" because of a mention of Kid 'n Play

Well if you're willing to share what kind of problems exactly is your family facing or tend to face?
Regarding accessibility and health care as one example I have an aunt( well older cousin lol) who works with blood drives and goes around the 5 boroughs of NYC mostly the Bronx and sets up areas to have people donate blood. It makes sense why its so important but she told me that a lot of neighborhoods that have high risk and crime its not uncommon for them to have really good Trauma centers that deal with specific wounds resulted from gun wounds and other quick fixes. Not only that but they desperately need blood and people to donate and not everyone goes or has the availability to even donate. Its very fast to be short on blood types and more donations can easily save lives
I still havent donated blood yet tho :/. I dont think i "technically can" or some ridiculous bullshit <_<. What about you guys have you ever donated blood or do on a regular?
There's this girl that comes around to the community center that I hang around at. She is, quite honestly, the most amazing woman I've ever met, yo. We went to a candlelight vigil for Michael Brown earlier, and we just got through making origami together. I ain't shit, so I don't think I'll have much of a shot, but she's smart, just graduated with a BA and she's working for a local non-profit.

More on this tomorrow, but with my family it has a lot to do with the lack of available good healthcare in poor areas of the south. I haven't seen numbers on how that affects blacks versus white people. The result is what I see as drastically-reduced lifespans, quality of care that could probably be much better, and a shitload of other problems I'll go into specifics about in the morning.

Its not just problematic in the US but in most parts of the world. Here, despite a health insurance scheme, you still need to have money for anything. I think people have gotten better with basic physical checkups but still a long road, but mental healthcare is really looked down upon. A doctor friend of mine told me for the most part, most mental issues go undiagnosed and are attributed to demons, witches, devils, etc. I've seen educated people refuse to address particular issues because they can pray the demons away. So many cultural blindspots...

They used to. That's how games like Binary Domain and Anarchy Reigns got made. (Enjoyed both but Goddamn did their expectations for those titles make no sense)
It could be said that the current Sega cares about money too much, which is why they've almost completely pulled out of video game development

No! Be you, not the dude you think she wants you to be. Sure, make the effort to smooth off a rough edge here and there or hide the odd flaw, but fundamentally always be you. Saves a lot of trouble down the line.
