Toronto-Age |OT4| Molested by a Burger Priest

It doesn't have a blatant feminist message or anything, but sure, I guess? It follows wuxia conventions, but it's at least a genre known for powerful women (or women who are more active in the plot, even if that means disguising themselves as men). Flowers of Shanghai is another good one from the same director.

For real tho: Tsui Hark's early films. Peking Opera Blues is a good primer, maybe even the gold standard. Shanghai Blues is also a lot of fun.

I dunno about that new Crouching Tiger movie. I'll probably watch when I've had a few to drink.
:/
Kinda disappointed in all the new releases. Fuller House makes me kinda cringe though Jodi Sweetin...wowza!
Crouching Tiger is pretty distracting with the English and I'm starting to notice a sort of samey look and fee between all these shows they have.
Love seems ok thus far though I'm not an Apatow fan.
Cooked was pretty boring

Edit: wow wrong thread

Anyways. Despite the terrible pilot I stuck with Fuller House and despite some cringey moments it is watchable. Or it could be this cold clouding my judgement I dunno.

I need to be working 2/3 jobs. Have a trip planned for this summer but the low CAD has destroyed my budget. Any good tips for finding part-time hours quickly? Min wage, entry level whatever...

Fast food places are always hiring.

Retail might be a bit more difficult since they aren't as busy and Christmas is over, but worth a shot in any case.

Try retail or even grocery stores. Usually grocery stores get really busy around Spring-Summer. I'm actually planning on tackling 2-3 jobs this summer myself cause I wanna do a South Korea or Japan trip sometime next year

Walked by Love Me Sweet cheesecake place in North York on my way to getting a crepe at Muncheez yesterday. Asian people just love lining up for things, don't they?

Also went to 360 Seahood (no that isn't a typo and I have no idea why) in Markham/Scarborough. They give you raw skewers that you season yourself then place onto this heating element that sort of constantly rotates all the skewers. It's Northern Chinese so everything has strong garlic/chili taste. I thought the food was pretty good but it's ridiculous that not a single worker there spoke English. The entire menu was in Chinese (worst of all - simplified Chinese... not that I can read traditional either lol) so my friends basically ordered everything. I feel like opening a store/restaurant that doesn't have a single trace of spoken or written English should be illegal but what do I know.

So I wanted to revive discussion about having a TO-GAF FB page or IRC channel or whatnot...

Been looking into Discord, and it seems fairly low maintenance on everyone's end. I haven't used it in earnest but it looks like making a server and setting up things is relatively easy and its basically free. Also seems like there's mobile support and all that as well or even just regular browser support. Pretty much like a VOIP app and IRC-like client rolled into one.

I've seen Discord being used a lot lately, I think a couple other GAF communities use it as well?

http://www.cp24.com/weather/toronto...ificant-snowfall-possible-next-week-1.2796304

The GTA and other parts of southern Ontario could be in for a significant snowfall Tuesday, despite a weekend of balmy, spring-like weather.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Sunday evening about the expected storm.

“A low pressure system developing over the southern United States Monday will head towards the Lower Great Lakes and is expected to spread an area of snow into southern Ontario Tuesday and Tuesday night,” the agency said. “Significant snowfall amounts may be possible across portions of Southwestern Ontario, the Golden Horseshoe and Eastern Ontario. Travelling conditions could rapidly deteriorate.”

The low pressure system could mean around 10 to 15 centimetres of snow for the GTA, CP24 Weather Specialist Patricia Jaggernauth said Sunday.

“We could see some rain, snow mixing for the morning portion of your Tuesday and then this will be the significant system that will move in.”

Cooler temperatures are expected to stick around on Wednesday and Thursday as well.

The temperature is expected to range between -1 C and -10 C from Tuesday to Thursday

well I've got all my actual belongings over at the new place now. Still haven't put the bed together and debating whether I should just go buy a new frame that isn't missing a bunch of pieces (part of the underside has been held up by a stack of linux/cisco books for the past year). Moving stuff in and out of the u-haul until 1AM on friday wiped the roommates out so much they weren't any help the rest of the weekend and we need to go back for more on tuesday or wednesday. Tempting to live off fast food the way they do, there's an absolutely crazy number of places to try out very close by, but I can resist.

Has anyone ever heard of EGLX? I work practically next door to the international centre and I'm now going to be driving past it on the way home each day. Thinking I'll enter the SF5 tournament, just need to get this house in order so I can get back to training. Right now the only game in town is FE: Fates, I had nothing else hooked up so I finally opened up the SE.

Snow is gonna suck tomorrow. I have to come into the office in a suit for the first time in years due to a client interview we're doing for a new project. Hopefully the snow holds off until later in the day.

...now I want a lamb pita from Messini...

Bubububut recouping costs! D:

9 dollars with a presto card? I'd probably do it. Sounds like a better time than having to transfer all those times taking the rocket, especially since I'll be tired. And the rocket makes me car sick.

Now all I have to do is get a presto card...

Anyone live in Harrison Garden area in North York? Thinking of moving there but not sure how annoying it'd be living outside of downtown without a car.
