It totally works. After using 10 Coins, I got a Primary and Special exotic drop.

Exotic engrams are way too common with the three coins boost, it really should have been a legendary booster with exotics always being a 1% chance from big bosses or something.

I'll never understand the loot system in destiny, it feels like it gives you nothing for days or everything all at once.

I look forward to being surprised (and wrong) then cause I finished the campaign as I saw it (got credits) and they haven't telegraphed more missions. None of the main characters seem to have missions for me. Where does it pick up?

Check in with all of the characters in the Tower and Petra in the Reef. You should end up with a stack of quests, and start with those. Some will be strikes, some will be missions. There definitely is a bit of busy work in the mix - go kill Taken Champions in public events, for example - but about every other activity will be a new mission marker on the maps.

I was really surprised just how much opened up.

Well. Farmed Engrams, used about 20 and pulled in 2x Alpha Lupi (Titan), Hawkmoon, and a Hereafter. No Zhalo for me! And the Alpha Lupi replaced my Taikonaut. Should've saved those strange coins I spent on Engrams.

Seriously, just load in, drive around, if you don't find one, go to orbit, and try again. It's faster than just completing beacons and hoping they turn out right.

You can also find awkwardly named broken fusion rifles doing anything not on the Dreadnaught that you can turn into Banshee for rep.

Honestly. It makes me think Xur really isn't needed anymore. I hope in the future the Nine become antagonists and we have an excuse to leave Xur behind.

I'd much rather exotics be tied to quests, specific boss drops, raids, crucible, or whatever.

I have no idea why none of the exotic armors aren't tied to quests, when it seems like the perfect place for them.

40 Three of Coins and now I'm out of strange coins. Regret buying two helmet engrams before hearing about this lol.

Got 5 exotics. Two Monte Carlos..... Also a Zhalo Supercell, Hereafter and some warlock gauntlets(I'm playing Hunter atm). All my primaries were ARs =/ I was hoping for something else but oh well. They're cool at least.

Edit: Wish I knew a good method for farming more Strange Coins to throw at this.

Many of us are using Draksis. Scourge of Winter story, get to the boss checkpoint. Then:

1) Pop a Three of Coins
2) Weaken Draksis
3) Blow yourself up along with him using a rocket launcher(this puts you back at the checkpoint while still killing him)
4) Repeat

The rate is roughly 1 engram in 5 Three of Coins. Mine was along those lines for my first 15, but after that I got unlucky haha.

The buff goes away when you kill an Ultra. The next one you use, if you didn't get an engram, is more powerful. It increases in potency each time.

You got a lot wrong. You use one coin each time you kill him. You kill yourself to respawn the fight.

Maybe I'm just an old man now, but the idea of farming and grinding for exotic engrams with this Draksys method feels insanely dull and a waste of time. I'm already reading about people on Reddit saying they've unlocked all the exotics they want and now they're bored.

It's so nice and refreshing to have "new Destiny" that I'm taking my time and loving every second. It helps I've been so busy with work I just finished the first act of the TTK campaign (Regicide) and did only the Dreadnaught patrol beacon mission and the SABER strike. Along with a handful of Control and Rift matches. I'm in no rush!

For me it's not(or wasn't, since I'm out of strange coins. I had stopped not long after VoG went live so I didn't have hundreds to throw at this haha) about getting the items I want specifically, but just the satisfaction of getting loot. Even with the apparent increase of legendary drop rates, Destiny doesn't have many satisfying loot moments lol. I just love having it rain shinies.

This is the desire that drives games like Diablo. I don't give a shit what I get, I just want a shiny thing. If it's good then all the better!

You get them pretty regularly through normal people play now through what seems like almost everything. Just found 2 from a chest on the moon earlier. Rule of thumb, just go for the exotics if you can buy them for your class.

So far this seems like it is the best way to play the game because the loot drops on a scale based on your light average so just by playing the game you should eventually gear up.

Going to orbit then coming back fixes it for some people, for me that didn't work but completing a random patrol mission popped it as soon as the patrol mission rewards came up. Seems like you need to do "something" for it to register. A bit buggy for sure.

Make sure you have Voidwalker equipped, then go to orbit and back to the tower. The quest will complete as soon as you hit orbit.

I have the same question, as well. Tried last night in Will of Crota and it was an utter fail. I don't think I've generated 7 orbs.

Equip Chest of Alpha Lupi to generate more obs. Go to Winters Run strike and instead of heading left to the strike, head right to the area along the coast. Keep going until you're at the room by the past the broken statue where the order and some falling continually respawn. Super that entire group and you'll generate 7 orbs with the chest on.

After that, just turn around an go complete the strike as normal.
