Horizon Zero Dawn livestream

Honestly, I don't think it matters if people don't come around on GG if the game reviews well. With how it's being positioned, it's poised to sell extremely well. And if this ends up being another case similar to UC4, where you have the ratings, sales and awards but some still dislike the game...

Confuses the hell out of me how people dislike UC4.

Naughty Dog NAILED the gameplay finally and the game shone for it. Definitely their best game imho, although weak on the story side (made evident as it followed TLoU). The slow sections hate is blown way out of proportion. LOVED everything on the island. If I had to list a negative it was probably the
sword fight at the end.

However I'd be pleasantly surprised to see this game review as well as UC4. Seems to be one where everything is very solid and polished, hopefully I'm surprised and something (perhaps the cauldron dungeons) knocks it out of the park.

I don't say this often but this will be one of the greats. Last time I said it was for ffxv, tlg, gravity rush 2, yakuza 0,nioh. So believe me Xp

Y'all are just inviting that uncharted train to roll into this thread too lol
I believe!

Bloodborne
Splatoon
Rocket League
Horizon: Zero Dawn

Notable new IP from this gen.

As a ubisoft lover(plz don't kill me gaf) I take offense to this list

The division
Watch dogs
The crew
Destiny
Shadow of Mordor
Knack
:p

I guess I was trying to find those "special" cases but I guess it is subjective. I'm just looking at the games that will stand the test of time and be considered among the best from the gen.

Bloodborne - One of the highest rated games this gen and considered a masterpiece.
Splatoon - Nintendo's first attempt at the online MP/shooter genre and was a commercial hit. Met with tons of adoration.
Rocket League - Blew up after being on PS+ and achieved massive commercial success. Considered one of the best games this gen.
Horizon: Zero Dawn - ???

Do cauldrons actually have puzzles? I don't remember reading that anywhere. Is that something we even know? It would be nice to have something other than combat/collecting to do for pacing and variety.

I came across some footage of the menu (by accident), and my goodness, GG nailed it. I fucking despise slow menus in games like Fallout or Infamous.

Little doubt in my mind that this game is going to be great. Really hope it gets great scores too. But that won't stop the hate. People on here can't help but venture into Uncharted 4 threads and bash the game

I rushed straight there and my expectations were met with what was essentially a robotic dungeon. This Cauldron obviously serves a great purpose in the overall story and were easily the most intriguing and exciting part of the game. It’s not clear how many are placed within the world, but they were incredibly challenging. A mix of puzzle solving, intense platforming and incredibly challenging battles with robots. And these areas are unforgiving. They were also incredibly intriguing visually. Think of them as lairs that look like they have a robotic life of their own.

hype!

(reminds me of Bloodborne Chalice Dungeons)
There are dungeons, called Cauldrons.
Here's a description of one from a preview
I did get just enough time to take on one of Horizon's dungeons, known as "cauldrons," and it offered a solid enough indoor challenge. I found myself in a mechanical sorting facility, full of platforms that ran on loops near the ceiling. I could jump and hang onto those platforms to get from place to place in the facility, which let me either skip certain dangerous foes or get a better position to battle them.

The more closed nature of this cauldron also changed the pace and intensity of combat, which made it a particularly feverish climax point in my session. (In this, I tried, and failed, to fell a deadly, armored Shellwalker, even though I had very nearly figured out how to cleverly overcome his shielding techniques.)

That Varl has two separate lines for when you ride through the gate mounted vs. walking through on foot is just incredible attention to detail. And the VA is very strong, at least for the story mission.

It all looks incredibly bland to me. I'm sorry but as much as I try I cannot fathom why people think this looks good. From a technical standpoint it looks good, but artistically it looks generic as all hell to me. Then there's the gameplay which also looks dime-a-dozen. I don't get it. I'm not trying to be a dick here and troll you guys, I seriously don't see it. What separates this from any other AAA titles?

You clearly trolling.

Guys, what if Horizon gets better scores than BotW? Riot?

Wonder what Zelda could have screwed up to lose it's pretty much guaranteed High MC score to another game. Or in the case that it is that high, wonder what surprise Horizon could have pulled to impress so many people to that level.

Ah, we're at the guessing what reviewers will say and what people will say about the reviews part of the thread. It usually changes direction at this point and end in 'WTF' posts.

What ? That's impossible... BotW is way much better than this...Better exploration, much better main character, music, enemies, puzzles, gameplay etc etc...

This is just like Far Cry Primal with robot dinos...Just it is

Zelda likely has better gameplay variety because the mechanics are suited to making a game with that level of variety. But Horizon is vastly more focused on its core combat and enemy design than Zelda is. Though Zelda will likely have its share of good combat moments as well. But Zelda has to rely on other systemic elements to enhance its combat and its not like it seems to handle them badly but it's clear to see the differences when one game doubles down on a handful of elements vs a game that tries to do pretty much everything.

Sorry, but you offered up a comparison when talking about what you didn't like, saying you didn't find her beautiful then tying it to a black character in wd2.

i am talking about characteristics...Not color...This Aloy didnt give me that special thing...WD2 char had that and Infamous 2 char also...I can give lots of examples...

But remember Heavenly Sword, Cole Train etc...They were so good...I played gears 3 multi so much just for Cole Train char...

Why does it matter? It's been proven time and time again that critic reviews aren't a 100% representation of whether people will enjoy a game. Do i have to mention Skyward Sword? Dark Souls 2? Dragon Age: Inquisition? What do all these games have in common i wonder.

Cole train was a stereotype to the fullest, so yea, you're in "i have a black friend" territory right now.. And wd2 main character Marcus is a good looking dude you can dress up in any way, so skin color immediately is the first thing that comes to mind.
