Makes you wonder what good teams have to look forward to. Success has nothing on hopeful speculation.

I never tried to imply that the Leafs situation was better than the Habs situation, or the situation of other good teams. I'm just really stoked for next year. All I have right now is hopeful speculation, I've got nothing else maaaan.

phoenix coyotes quickie: ice edge bid turned down, reinsdorf bid approved, glendale still corrupt, bettman still a douche, canada still getting screwed

edit: though hopefully goldwater pisses on JRs proposal (no pun intended)

And they'd switch their name to the Arizona or Glendale Coyotes...........

This needs to be rejected

Edit - I need a Henrik Sedin playoff avatar............link some good ones?

Meh.

Gretzky and co. didn't mind Edmonton.
Lidstrom and Zetterberg don't mind Detroit.
If they win, they will come.
Gretzky was so happy when he got traded out of Edmonton, he literally cried tears of joy.
Lidstrom and Zetterberg don't mind Detroit because it's not Edmonton.
Edmonton won't win, because no one will come.

BAM

My bad. Understood. I'm just surprised by your excitement. You guys aren't even willing to mourn a complete failure of a season. Nothing but good vibes in Leaf Nation. Believe in Double B.

Honestly, it just reeks of cognitive dissonance to me, but whatever. As you were.

The Canucks would be playing in Milwaukee right now if it wasn't for Burke and Nonis. Show some respect.
In the 10 years that Burke and Nonis were GMs of this organization, how many other GMs led their teams to a Stanley Cup? Or the SCF? Or at least a conference final? A lot. Burke and Nonis aren't among them (well, Burke did, of course, but with Anaheim). They put some great pieces in place, but they had their time. Now it's Gillis' team. Let's hope we have a little more success.

This illusion that Burke is such a masterful GM has really grabbed hold in Toronto, hasn't it? The cult of personality shouldn't be confused with what he has actually done.

Even Oiler fans have left Edmonton.

Ain't that right, Pochacco? ;)

Serious question: were you in Vancouver during the Oil's SC run?

Heh.
Nah, I was in Edmonton during the run :)
Which was fortunate because I lived in Toronto the year before and moved to Vancouver in the summer after the run (July 2006).

It was pretty fun. Really similar to Vancouver during the Olympics; not as big obviously, but a lot more rowdy. But yea, Vancouver is a beautiful city with beautiful girls and delicious food. It's great.

Anyway, Sheldon Souray said this week in his trade demand that he loved the fans and didn't mind the city; it was management that he complained about. Oilers gotta fix that.

Well it's not like he's going to come out and say "Yeah, I want a trade because this city is shit and I hate all of these jerk fans." :lol

Something like... 18 more hours before i get to watch the Wings & Coyotes!

A couple hours before that I'll be watching the Pens and Sens.

Appreantly Ottawa doesn't want to win the cup, they are just happy they are in the playoffs, and will forfeit the series when the puck drops tonight and relise that they are playing against jesus.

That's awesome.

I want one of these. Haha.

EDIT: There we go. The 2010 Penguins Playoff Conspiracy(tm) is on. Let's do this, Uncle G.

wow it has begun, the NHL is such a joke

The Phoenix Coyotes are sure to remind round one officials of this on a game by game basis as Detroit's Tomas Holmstrom has mastered the art of screening, deflecting pucks, and generally agitating opposition goaltenders.

The NHL intends to watch Holmstrom and all “crease crashers” closely, and Colin Campbell suggests it's best to stay out of the blue paint to avoid a penalty.

Awesome, the NHL really doesn't want us to get far this year do they?

no wonder Bettman conspiracy theories floats around. If I was Ken Holland, I would be furious about statements like this.

Wings need to take game one to prove that they are back for good. Sucks that is starts at 10 though.
If the Wings take game 1 I predict they'll take the series in no more than 5 games. If the Yotes take it, we're probably looking at a 6 or 7 game series.

And yes, the starting time sucks. I'm gonna have to get a few hours of sleep before the game, and maybe a few after it so I'm not a zombie in school tomorrow.

It wouldn't be so bad if Holmstrom wasn't the only one mentioned, that could just be the article but who knows.

Anyways time to start with conspiracy theories for this playoffs. I think that the Pens will get away with 7 players on the ice for around 2 minutes for at least one game. Do I have any other takers. ;)

I have hockey class in the morning so I should get sleep, but then again, it is game 1 of the playoffs, now if Detroit just starts sucking then I'll get some sleep, I hope that isn't the case though.

not sure what the big deal is - dreger mentioned holmstrom, he didn't say that the league specifically did. everyone already knows that holmstrom gets reputation calls so it's nothing new.

It wouldn't be the playoffs if Homer didn't get atleast one or two CRAZY reputation calls.

Yeah, you got a point.

Yeah, that's why I stated that I couldn't tell if that was what the league said or what the article said.

As a Wings fan I'm curious about our goaltending. I have no doubt in my mind Jimmy will deliver as he had basically ALL season however this is usually Ozzy's shinning moment. The asshole just always seems to turn it around when it's playoff time, curious if Babcock will give him any ice.

Weren't you the one who said Burke already had the pieces in place when he got to Anaheim- even though he replaced 70% of the roster, including the entire D corps?

Funny how that doesn't apply to Gillis. Its "Gilis' team". Must be nice to have a team where you inherited the Sedins, Luongo, and Kesler.

:lol nice

Howie's going to have a looooong leash. I wouldn't expect to see Ozzie unless A: Howard gets injured, or B: We're down 3-0 in a series and Howie's been stinking it up.

I hope we can pull it off, I don't like that all the "experts" are picking us to win, and Phoenix is going to come out hard, it will be close, but I don't know. But of course, Phoenix hasn't faced a full healthy Detroit team this year at all, so it will be interesting, as long as we can hold a lead which was and is still a small problem for us.

Reputation calls? He often gets away with shit, too. Goalie interference is a difficult penalty to call consistently. This general warning (stop protecting your precious Swedes, darkwings) was issued since they'd rather the players discipline themselves, rather than the officials having to make contentious calls.

But no, wild conspiracies abound, etc.

The conspiracies are true I tells ya. Everyone is out to get us.

The pulled goals!
6 penguins on the ice for 5 (time may be exaggerated) minutes!
