Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

What. And here I thought August would be the end of it. Any word on what's going to be fixed in the August patch, and what's still going to be broken until November? :/

The august patch could be the final one, they said that they would try to get everything listed as priorities, in that note after the first patch hit, fixed.

The only reason they are calling it interim is because calling anything a final patch for this game and it turning out not to fix everything would be received very very poorly.

I hope it's early August :p what seemed "playable" when I posted yesterday was before I got out into the open world properly, the stuttering is insane. And some textures just never pop in.

Played for a decent amount today. I applied the changes listed in the OP. I was able to hold a solid 60 for the most part. Only dipping when driving the Batmobile or when there was a bunch of NVIDIA smoke effects in play (have Gameworks enabled). Playing at 2560x1440.

Better experience than the first few days of launch. Actually performed better than I thought tbh. Will see if it holds...not getting my hopes up too much.

I was able to get my MGS V key from Newegg as well! Ordered my 980 Ti in early June.

I did have to push a bit to get it though:

I wonder if they're going to stop allowing these codes through, as more and more people request them. Either way, just a heads up that if they say "no" at first, you may still be able to convince them.

I'm sure the people who making MGS V would be excited to hear that their game is being given away for free because a completely unrelated dev/publisher released a broken game.

I'm pretty sure they don't give a shit beyond whatever obligation they have between between Konami and Nvidia.

Newegg is the one biting the bullet on this afterall.

Uh, they've probably already gotten paid by Nvidia for each copy that's available to give out. I doubt they just donated a keygen to them.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.

Yeah, there are a finite amount of copies and I would assume the way it works is that Nvidia pays for the keys that have been redeemed come the end of the promotion. I hit up Andy for an Arkham Asylum vanilla key after exhausting all other options (it's the only Batman game on Steam I don't own and the GFWL key redemption issues people were having when the GOTY Edition switched to Steamworks gave enough time for WB to change its mind about including the original app alongside the GOTY one) but was told that the database had been completely cleaned out.

You can buy it for $14

It's not even worth that, imo.

By the time this game is fixed (if it ever is), there will be cheap ways to get it then, too. Except then, you'll know it's fixed.

Edit: Newegg let me get Metal Gear Solid 5. I got my 980 ti back in June. It turns out something good came out of this shit port afterall.

Spoke too soon. Game won't launch for me today lol

Cheaper than $14?

you should be their hero and go tell them

And you should continue to be an ass to a fellow member that questions how this collaborative effort to acquire free software from an unrelated publisher has ANYTHING remotely to do with Warner Brothers missteps or the topic at hand.

Really, way to support the industry.

Wat

The keys aren't free. They're from a promotion run by NVIDIA. Konami is not just giving away keys, someone is paying for them - either NVIDIA or the retailers (or both).

Exactly. Someone else is paying for them, and an orchestrated effort to obtain them in the Arkham Knight PC Performance thread, at best seems... how should I put this... more than a bit on the shady side.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.

You think Nvidia are saints in this? They're just as responsible with their bullshit 60fps Game works enabled trailers. They're gonna pay for those MGSV copies and I say good.

Supporting the industry doesn't mean bending over to let them have their way with you.

How? If anything, NVIDIA will just be less likely to do business with WB in future seeing as they've had two majorly botched PC launches this year. This doesn't harm Konami at all. If people returned their cards and purchased new ones to get MGSV would that still bother you?

It doesn't "bother" me as much as I find it perplexing that instead of calling for a new title, or free DLC from WB as a mea culpa, the thread has instead devolved into FREE MGS V FOR EVERYONE with a step by step guide on obtaining that software.

Konami's handling of the Kojima situation has been abysmal, but they had nothing to do with Arkham Knight. And if it is such a legitimate endeavor, I'd suggest creating a new thread detailing that process, instead of further derailing this thread.

Lol, "Step by step guide"? Contact Newegg and ask if they'll give you a key. It's not rocket science. And it's completely NewEgg's decision on whether or not they want to provide them. My conscience couldn't be clearer.

It's up to the company whether they want to replace the promo code or not. No one is making them.

Annnnnnyway, back on topic - I installed Windows 10 last night and the game seems a hell of a lot smoother for me, even with all the settings maxed out and the top 2 Gameworks settings on. What is strange though, is two of said Gameworks settings are greyed out for me (the smoke and one under it) but I have no idea why.

Stands to sense you have a Nvidea card?

Oh sorry, should have mentioned that - yeah a 970. I guess Windows isn't installing the latest Nvidia driver by default, but it is running so smoothly, I don't want to force an update and risk breaking it!

Most hyped patch ever?!?

Batman: Arkham Knight's PC update is looking 'fantastic', says Nvidia

Perhaps this update needs a countdwn timer lol...

What a load of horseshit lol
Isn't that something they should have done in the first place considering they were hyping up the game's performance on their cards?
Shit, even their SLI driver was busted so don't give me that Nvidia engineer helping, brace yourself for awesome performance crap.

lol fuck off nvidia, crawl back into your hole and come out when you're ready to promote phantom pain or whatever's coming next

Fuck it, bought it on PS4.

How do I begin the process of gettiing a refund through GMG?

Basically they will "process" the refund for you but you never get your money back.

At least that's what happened to me. So I just kept the game and played it at 30fps downsampled because... Why not.

Well with all that reported combined force of engineers all over the place, they better put up something decent.

Up until that point and otherwise, it is just bullshit pr talk.

Well, I gotta say that using this tool and the best settings mentioned by the creator here:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=484128370

And disabling interactive fog/smoke and debris, while leaving the game at a capped 30 FPS and running borderless fullscreen did the trick. Performance is good, almost a locked 30, no crashes, nothing. Sure, it seems that there's still a memory leak, but leaving the game after a 2 hour session playtime fixes it.

Played for 13 hours this weekend, awesome game. A shame about so many issues. Will defintely play it from the beginning again on hard when the patch is out.

lol...and I'm one of the few that bought it from Amazon and didn't even get it for free. And as other have pointed out, I don't think you understand how promotions work. They are already being supported when they made the deal

Who knows, I am kind of worried about the PC port of MGS V now with Kojima being out. But hey...free is free.

I really should hit up newegg. Nvidia is scummy as hell. It looks great! Why didn't you look at it before release? Gameready AK drivers? Bullshit.

It work for me as well! They gave me two codes though, seeing that I bought a 970 and a 980 ti.

Newegg is awesome.

Yea, I learned my lesson about buying my 970 from Amazon instead of Newegg like I normally do for computer parts. Newegg is awesome.

I just hope Arkham Knight is playable soon. So disappointing.

The fact that Nvidia is hyping up a patch and acting like the savior is hilarious.

So when we guessing the "interim" patch in August will be out? Guessing near the end of August is the safest bet. It's going on two weeks since that announcement, might be time for another one maybe perhaps... Coincidentally it seems their boards login has been broken since last Sunday.

Highly doubt they will message again. My guess is mid August
