BEYOND: Two Souls | SPOILER THREAD | SPOILER everywhere!!!

Wait, the boy in the party scene is Ryan CIA guy?

MIND BLOWN WTF i didnt realise that :O

anyone know what happens if you blab to the army colonel under the sea before ryan is hacked up?

also cage is not a fan of US foreign policy clearly. I felt the child soldier scene was amazing and the end where you kill his dad is shocking to say the least, and the kid turns on you. Very much i think a commentary on world events.

Wait what? I thought the accents were completely different and surely there would have been some sort of interaction when Jodie has to leave the lab

Beat this game this morning, very good!
Don't quite understand the criticisms of the game...
I think it does give a different feel to Heavy Rain, but not in a bad way neccessarily.
With heavy rain, the choices you made which could affect the story were pretty clear and obvious while in this, the choices you make may seem very insignificant and you may not even notice the consequences of that a lot further into the game (And maybe even further again if you take into account what time period you make a choice in Jodie's life)

Also amazed with myself I predicted the "Aiden twist",

Happy games like this exist anyway, I think this is the type of game that makes PS look better anyway with their variety. Hope the criticism doesnt affect quanticdream team too much, I'll be very happy if they continue making games like this!

Beat it last night, some final thoughts:

Cage can't execute. His premises are good. His set up is fine. It just all falls apart. The story started off so good. Young girl with psychic abilities gets ripped from her family and is a lab rat for the CIA. This is all good. I love this setup. But then, I don't know, nothing has impact.

When, for example, she reads the news that she was used by the CIA to kill the president, it fell flat. This was the big turning point in Jodie's life. She went AWOL and was hunted by the government for treason. But the reason she did that was so hamfisted that I couldn't buy it. You get a ten second voiceover stating that she killed a good guy. Gonna need more than that. Also, the people that she was killing the whole time looked like insurgents. Maybe the police in middle eastern countries dress like that, but it all just felt very "YOU KILLED A GOOD GUY BECAUSE WE SAID SO". Also, The Mission (the chapter this is all based on) went on WAY too long.

Navajo was a mess. Again, started out neat. The dinner scene was awkward, in a good way. But then it gets into incantations, ancient spirits, and so on, and it just made me roll my eyes. They're Navajo, so of course there's all that stuff. That aside, it also went on way too long, like The Mission, and it was completely out of place. I mean, I guess it shows that Jodie is a go-getter, but I thought when she joined the CIA she was already there. The fuck at that ending. Ancient cave painting showing a Jodie/Aiden bond, and it's never mentioned or touched upon again.

Also, the game is INSANELY dark, vision wise. There were moments, especially in The Hunted, where I couldn't tell where I was going, what direction the game wanted me to push the right stick, or what I was running from. I tried turning my brightness all the way up, nothing helped. Really made it hard to play. Speaking of hard to see, some of the directions I had to press during the QTE dodge/attack sequences went totally against what I thought they were. If she was moving down to dodge, but her arms were swinging right, then I had to press right. I understand they tell you that, but if I'm ducking, I should hit down, dammit.

Those negative things aside, the graphics are amazing, the animation is top notch, and I had no issues with the controls in free roam. The music was pretty good, if not predictable, and there are some great characters. Cole is by far my favorite. He's just there for his princess. I'm glad I got to see him happy at the end, same with the homeless gang. Fuck Ryan. He 180s more than Microsoft.

Overall, it was an interesting experience. I don't think I'll be there next time for Cage's game day one, but I'll keep an eye on it. Dude needs a writer, or an editor with a heavy influence.

That made me lol. As for the cave painting, I think that was just to show that rifts and entities have existed since long ago.

The sequence at the very end which STRONGLY hints at a sequel just felt tacked on. Overall, interesting story, mostly poorly executed.

Zoey ending is cool, I can't help thinking I want a traditional action game with Jodie and Zoey, have SSM or Guerilla Cambridge do it lol

The kid from the party scene is not Ryan. The kid had an Australian accent and they were likely within 4 years of age;
While Ryan was born is the US and had what appears to be much wider age gap.

However. ..

Ryan is full of lies....

Also, I went Beyond ending, because I thought if I went back to being alive I'd be with Ryan. Because we kissed at the end, even though I told him every time I didn't love him and I always pushed him away.

If I could have gone back to break his heart and be with the homeless people I would have done that.

Because fuck Ryan.

This was never even said. "A new world for us to conquer" doesn't mean they want to invade the Infraworld. He is holding a speech, so he is obviously making everything sound more awesome than it is. From everything he and Cole said we can deduct that they simply want to let the Infraworld spread inside the dome (where it can be controlled), study it and eventually find a way to link entities to human soldiers. Find ways to use it against the enemy. And since they are the only ones with access to it they are "conquering" it. Never once was it implied they would send soldiers in there to somehow take over the other world or something like that lol

I know that I was just trying to pull an example for what I said later in my post. I know they don't literally want to invade the infraworld.

His name is Matt.

In that case you should have chosen the Life ending. Can get the chance to crush his heart once and for all.

Cage never does sequels. Probably just to make the ending not perfectly happy.

Zoey ending = best ending. Got it the first time and was amazed.

Well, you can. I fucked him and went to Stan and his gang who are not longer homeless. What a touching scene.

Has he recently said that he will never do a sequel? A pattern doesn't mean an unbreakable rule. There was no need to include it in every ending if he just wanted to make it end on a sadder note, the alone or beyond endings were sad enough by themselves.

He didn't say never, but I can't really imagine it. Probably just wanted to leave something to the imagination while giving enough closure. Or maybe we get DLC this time who knows.

Leaving something to the imagination would have involved an ambiguous ending though. Here everything is pretty much tied up, then at the very end something else is thrown in which serves as a set-up to a new story, especially when you consider the Zoey ending too. Could be a DLC story, must be a fairly big one though.

Yeah Life it is. You go to the Infraworld anyway if you die, so what's the point? She went through all this shit, she better gets another chance to live a normal life. I thought about it for like 15 minutes. Weird how such a simple game choice can be this difficult. But Life was ultimately the right choice for me.

It's funny, because as soon as Jodie said "I have so many things left to do," I knew instantly which one to pick. I think I literally thought, "I'm not done here." For all of the game's faults, I love that it can draw me in this much.

Well I thought it was pretty ambiguous. She saw it happen before, but then she presumably prolonged it by destroying the Black Sun. As she said the CIA will likely do it again. Maybe what she saw will ultimately happen, or maybe she is able to stop it again. Is it preventable or can't science be stopped? I think the game keeps this open.

Just finished the game myself. Ryan's "end of the world" scenario didn't make much sense, but it made more sense one I did Zoey's. So.....how about a sequel? Or maybe DLC? I need more closure!!! Also, what happens if you choose "beyond?"

If Tuesday's Baby also has herself an Aiden, how come there wasn't a dead twin in the womb when Jodie checked on the baby?

I could be way off, but the way I saw the game was Jodie's capabilities were a combination of being connected to Aiden, and whatever her ability was for combat. While Aiden was responsible for zooming around and seeing more than humanly possible, and interacting with the world, Jodie's combat abilities were inherently hers. So Jodie's mother was telekinetic, and so was Aiden, but Jodie didn't have telekinetic abilities. It would then follow that Tuesday's baby has some kind of power, but not necessarily an attached entity.

I created a timeline based on evidence found in the game and how old Jodie is in each chapter. Should be fairly accurate:

Jodie was born around late October 1989.

  • My Imaginary Friend : December 1997
  • The Experiment : March 1998

  • Like other Girls : 16
  • The Condenser : 16 (almost 17)
  • Welcome to the CIA : 17

Am I the only one who REALLY dislikes the Beyond ending?

Like, I went through all those ups and downs, I (kind of) made a better life for Jodie, just for her to give it up to be with her loved ones? It just didn't really fit; what was the point of the entire game if I willingly sacrifice myself when there's no need to?

I chose Life, and Ryan. I was going to choose Jay, but I decided to try and work things out with Ryan at the DPA near the end, so I figured I'd follow through with that instead.

I really liked the Beyond-ending.
She just had experienced to much in her life to be able to go back to a normal life, there was nothing left for her there. She deserved to rest.

It reminded me a lot of The Lord of The Rings. Frodo, Bilbo and Gandalf leaving Middle-earth for the Undying Lands.

I've also come to the conclusion that my crush for Ellen Page was only strengthened by this game, and that I can't wait to see what quanticdream does next on some next gen hardware.

I can appreciate it for the message they were trying to send, but I dunno. It made the whole game feel kind of pointless.

Things were looking up; Jodie was able to start her life over after the mission regardless of whether or not the player accepted the money, and by choosing death it just seemed like the journey to get to that point was worth nothing.

Too me, the Beyond only works as a ending if lots of people had died.
  • Nathan
  • Cole
  • Her Mum
  • Ryan

If these people died then I feel Beyond was a much better deal Jodie, but if not then life it is.

Question about the dinner...I chose the elegant dress, same one that she wore in the Embassy chapter but couldn't make her wear shoes...can you do it...? I found it silly seeing her walking around in her bare feet wearing an elegant dress...

Watched the Zoey and Ryan ending so far,I have 2 other to watch...is there a way to see them without watching the Epilogue all over again each time...? I want to see the 2 others...

Oh and its been said a few times but man,the Zoey/Jodie ending could make an awesome DLC or something lol, loved it.

Finished last night, chose life with Ryan. Figured he was alright after losing an eye for me. And I'll take the check, thanks.

Love the Aiden reveal, love how he came back. Loved how everything came together. Will check out the other endings and actually looking forward to playing through it again in a few months. Some really great stuff.

Yeah it depends on how many people died IMO. In mine almost everyone lived, so life was my only option after thinking a bit about it.

I think you can't lol

Something I've been wondering about ever since I watched the other endings on YouTube: do you think it means anything that in every ending, someone (usually Aiden, but once Jodie) writes "Still Here" as an apparition EXCEPT for the ending where Jodie goes back to the homeless crew?

I think he's still there, but QD used that to focus on the group as a whole instead of just Jodie.

What's the ending that she writes it herself?

Also, how can Ryan die?
