This forum is so weird. It's like four guys shouting at each other in carny lingo and god forbid if you don't live here and just want to ask a question or suggest the Ascension was created in a marketing meeting by marketing robots.

This thread alone is enough to convince me that the people who claim that Community is better than Gaming/OT are out of their goddamn minds.

I think it's pretty cool when people aren't shitting on one another. Or when fans aren't just making fun of flippy indy shit.

Went looking for some good Cesaro promos and got distracted by Larry Sweeney being awesome. Miss that dude.

This is a good one, because it's true.

Cesaro had hair once?

My criticisms: Too insular and in-jokey, too many lists of grades for wrestling pay-per-views without any commentary (apologies, but those things have no value to anyone), and a too-heavy reliance on GIFs.

I don't watch much wrestling, but I like reading wrestling news and rumors. And I like criticism of the product: what worked and what didn't. And I like it when people relay anecdotes or recap shows they've gone to. All that stuff I mentioned above actively hampers debate and discussion.

Funny, I think the posting of wrestling news and rumors is one of the worst aspects on here. It just makes a forum come off as an RSS feed and hampers all discussion because it's either 'I think that's true' or 'I don't think that's true.'

I don't see how it can be too insular when people in here are upset about a new member getting banned already.

I go the completely opposite way. Since we're a Community more than a news thread, I appreciate getting to know everyone and everything, and an identity for WrassleGAF gets carved out. It's a place to be where you USUALLY talk wrestling but anything goes. I know there's a ton of sites that are nothing but haranguing about rumors and wrestling news - here it's sort of just there and propelling conversation forward. But I like hearing about weird shit in James Bond movies and who likes them and who doesn't. I like hearing how the people I've grown to know over the years (jeezus, years) like bad games but hate great ones. It's that community focus that is what appeals to me personally, and you can't please everyone. I feel the community aspect is more important than wrestling news, but that's again just me, and everyone's got their own reasons for being here.

And I love the PPV grades. :(

News and rumors DO come up. We're a popular community. Everything gets discussed.

Aiii

So not worth it
Of course you're not going to like everything that people do in this thread, but since there's always activity you can easily ignore what you don't like and respond to shit you do like. In-jokes are hardly avoidable in any community and I can see how some of them will go over new peoples heads at first, but that's easy to catch up on and I wouldn't have it any other way. There's just no way to not have running gags or ribs when you have a group of people that have been (virtually) hanging out together for years.

But I've never considered WrassleGAF to be insular and unwelcoming to new people, there's so many different opinions and tastes here it's very hard to not find a couple of people who you can relate to at any rate.

I legit think that Stro's Religion stuff should be a feature somewhere. The marriage of pro wrestling pics, jiffs, and education it provides is something I've never seen somewhere else.

The more I watch of Adrian Adonis, the more I'm realising how seriously underrated he was and continues to be. A real shame he couldn't keep his physique in check, as that definitely hampered his work in the later half of the 80's, but when he was in his prime he was a great wrestler, a bulky guy who knew how to throw his weight around and was very physical with a lot of stamina. All in all, a good singles wrestler and an excellent tag partner for Dick Murdoch. However, with his weight gain and the 'Adorable' gimmick in WWF, he went from Most Improved in 1981 and Most Underrated in 1982 to Most Embarrassing & Worst Gimmick in 1986. Also, the end of his career is terribly depressing;

. leaves the WWF in 1987 after his Hair vs Hair match with Piper
. rejoins the AWA and wrestles 3 matches before the year's end and is booked for a tour of New Japan in January '88
. breaks his ankle, misses the tour, Verne Gagne stops paying him his weekly agreed salary
. tells Verne to go fuck himself and makes a failed bid to return to the WWF
. rehabs his ankle and gets himself booked on a New Japan tour in June '88, which works out fine
. returns to the states and dies in a car crash just 8 days after his last match in Japan

*edit, congrats Cagey!

TMZ.com reports that Kevin Nash and his 18-year old son were arrested early Wednesday morning after getting into a bloody altercation with each other.

Police in Volusia County, Florida received a call just after midnight regarding a domestic incident.

When cops arrived to the scene, they noticed blood on Nash face and arrested him and his 18-year-old son Tristen for battery.

Both men were hauled to a nearby jail where they were booked and are currently being held without bond.

Kevin Nash is currently scheduled to return to WWE RAW on January 19th when he reunites with his former nWo partners Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall and Shawn Michaels.

Is there much of him on NJPW World? I wouldn't mind seeing his GOOD work, I'm only familiar with his shitty work.

We need a prequel just to see what shit Kevin gets up to cause his family to hate him so uncensored. It can't just be that he left a few Micro Machines out now and again.

What if Buzz's tarantula was trying to escape his wrath?

What if.

Hey, I like Cat Stevens so hopefully we're still besties.

And I'd stop posting my grades if everyone disliked them, but I know a few people have enjoyed them sooo... suck my D+, MC Safety. jkjkjk xoxoxo

But seriously, would you guys prefer if I cut out some of the earlier grades when I post? Or take away the middling PPV grades? So, like, for past years, only keep the B's and F's in my posts? Is it too long? What's the issue here? Help me help you.

I'll try to remember I posted this and check for suggestions later.

Love and Merry Xmas,

Zach

There's only a couple of matches, haven't watched the tag match yet but his singles bout with Dicky is real good. Starts off a bit slow, but they proper lay into each other towards the end;

Riki Choshu & Animal Hamaguchi vs Dick Murdoch & Adrian Adonis - MSG Tag League - (NJPW 1983/12/07)
Dick Murdoch vs Adrian Adonis - IWGP League - (NJPW 1984/05/24)

Nah, I like you.

Merry Wedding-Mas! Have a great day, I hope there's no Taz Heel turns.

I have a Fantasy Football championship belt (yes I bought a belt, that's the sort of carny Commissioner I am) on the line this Sunday, as myself and one of my groomsmen are in the finals. The entire league is going to be at the wedding.

Someone is turning heel this weekend.

they show up like once every few pages and are way less intrusive compared to say, how much we requote images over and over sometimes.

I say you do what feels right in your heart, friend zach.

What a shitty dream to wake up from on Christmas Eve, even for a down on his luck Jew in these troubled times:

Spring Break of some sort. I'm in some kind of love triangle thing, where it seems like everyone is kind of okay with it, or at least not angry about it. I'm with this girl, but he first love is still around. Something like that. I'm trying to read a book on the beach when this huge wave comes in. Then another. Then another. Then a few hundred animals are walking down the beach in a line. Of all types. From wacky birds to elephants. A huge wave crushes and kills all of them. The next wave that comes in throws me and the people around me through building windows. These massive waves keep coming in, the only thing keeping me and the people around me safe is that we were already now in a building and holding on to frames and walls. At least one of these giant waves is red. Things subside. People are buried on the beach and missing. The girl's first love is missing and I'm helping to try to find him. Unburied a few people who would have died. Saved someone trapped in a house. Never could find the guy we were looking for. Obviously, he most likely died, along with a lot of other people.

Jeb Bush comes in to run the disaster management, so I assume it was in Florida. Girl is a mess, I'm stressed to fuck having tried to find this dude and all the dead people and whatnot. God damn Sheldon from Big Bang was there making jokes.

It was a shitty dream.

So let's talk A View To A Kill

It's not the worst Bond film (Hello Die Another Day) or the most boring (The Man With The Golden Gun nods off) but it might be the most tired. Roger Moore is crumbling into dust, the entire first hour of the film is completely irrelevant ambling around about horse racing, the Bond girl is back to being a dumb blonde who can't do anything, and the plot is Goldfinger but with microchips.

On the other hand, its zeppelin game is on point, Christopher Walken is playing blonde Christopher Walken with a machine gun, May Day is kind of amazing, and the soundtrack is awesome.
And a big note in its favour, it isn't Octopussy.

To sum up, see it for the cool heels.

Roll on Timothy Dalton and your lack of Nazi superhumans with axes.

what's the bond movie that just ends with bond lighting some shiskebob chef on fire?

Wtf is up with every bond movie that isn't casino royale.

why do people always try to kill bond when he's relaxing like xenia attacking him in a pool or sean connery almost getting wasted by a message belt or some shit?

the bondaverse is a dastardly fuckin' place, the exploits of chavo and hornswoggle wouldn't be out of place.

Moore looked to be about 65 in his first Bond movie and he was 45. I can't even imagine how old he looked by his last movie. I tried to watch Never Say Never Again last night but fuck was it boring as shit. Seemed like it should have been a parody by the name of Games Pond or some shit.

I've only seen I think 5 Bond movies (Goldeneye, Skyfall, Goldfinger, For Your Eyes Only, You Only Live Twice) and any Bond movie that doesn't have the Q gadgets run down scene can go FUCK itself.
