Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster |OT| G - A - F in position, it's showtime gurlz!

It started working like an hour later. Guess they flipped the switch

I thought that it might have been an input error. Like instead of inputting that the codes expire on March 18, 2016 they told their system March 18, 2014.

On a separate note, anyone else feel very uncomfortable rotating the right stick on the Vita for Lulu's Limit Break? Feels like I might break it.

I always forget how boring FFX is and play it for a bit and go back to X-2. When do the interesting International changes show up in X aside from expert grid?

There's a few extra armor/weapon/standard sphere grid abilities (and some minor bugfixes to monsters and Auron's overdrives are slightly different) but the big changes (
Dark Aeons/Penance
) are all post-Zanarkand.

Played this on the PS3 last night and it looks fantastic. Only thing that's been disappointing so far is the facial expressions and the Lip Sync. Just terrible, man. Hope they patch it or something.

Did cross save and about to try it on my Vita on the go. Feels awesome.

I like the story and characters. The game play is a bit boring and repetitive, though. I didn't say I don't like the game. I love the game. It is just flawed as fuck.

Funny, if I could just play the damn game and skip cutscenes and put everyone on mute I would be far happier.
I had forgotten how talky it was.

so i didnt do my research well enough and didnt see that final fantasy X and X-2 aren't sold separately on vita... guess i gotta decide if i wanna bite the bullet for the whole thing even though i was only looking forward to X. it would be my first time playing both.

Finally won a stupid blitzball match and it's the story one.

I just cheesed and camped at our goal passing the ball for exp. 2nd half, get Tidus a clear Sphere Shot then hide again.

I hate Blitzball.

Is there a good guide for beginners on how to play blitzball? I remember trying it when the game came out the first time, and never was able to figure anything out.

It played like a choose your own adventure game of football, with seemingly random outcomes to every choice.

Take a chance on X-2. As far as gameplay goes, no other FF game touches it in my opinion.

If it helps matters, X-2 has one of Final Fantasy's greatest battle systems

Learn/Use the Jecht Shot, then swim to your own goal and stay there while the opposing team swims in circles. Hire those fuckers from the Al Bhed team when you have the time/cash because their stats are ridiculous

I honestly think that's my one and only gripe with the game.

That is inexcusable.

Cutscene skipping is a surprisingly difficult thing to implement in a game, unless you plan for it from the very beginning.

I imagine trying to reverse-engineer skipping into a really old codebase/script would be a nightmare.

That said, they definitely should have planned for it from the beginning when making the original game.

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
Just got to Kilika Port. Might be my TV, but is it just me or do the FMV's look a little washed out? I guess it could be worse, the resolution is good, except for being cropped.

no you can see that the FMV's are not true 1080p, what I mean is there is some upscaling going on just like what happened with most of Advent Children on BluRay

I don't know a thing about game development. I just assumed that it wouldn't be a difficult thing to add/implement. I guess I can't be overly upset then, but it's still annoying.

Anyone knows how the cross save work? do I always need to transfer save? Or when I save ingame it automatically does it?

The former. Every time you want to play on a different system you have to go to Data Transfer and go to the screen where it shows your saves (that will sync them with the server).

Thanks Ghazi. That's what I figured but I thought i'd check anyways.

X-2 wasn't bad, the battle system is quite good.

I'm looking forward to it, I'm having a blast with X.

And here I was, not understanding the appeal of the series, when playing XIII. I'm glad I get to play this game.

Got past the laugh scene. It didn't bother me as much this time. Replaying this has been great. It feels like I can appreciate it better now that I'm older. I had a love/hate thing going for this game when it first released on ps2.

There's still some things I don't like about it from a game design perspective (corridor-fight-corridor-cutscene)
But I knew what I was getting when I picked it up.

Seymour still looks ridiculous, even after all this time.

Ok so I play on my ps3 save in game, then go to the transfer then go on my vita and pick up from there? for save in game then go to my vita and file transfer?

So I played FFX for more than 300 hours as a kid, it was the first FF that I played all the way through (probably sunk more than 100 hours into FFX-2). Haven’t played these games in probably more than 10 years.

I’m wondering if I should use the default sphere grid or is the expert sphere grid where it’s at?

That's both one of the best, and at the same time, one of the worst aspects of the FF series. You can absolutely fall in love with one installment, but loathe the next one. None of them play the same.

I am the same way. Poured hundreds of hours into X and X-2 back in the day, and never really touched them afterwards. Personally I went with the standard Sphere Grid. I like having the extra nodes available. If I do another playthrough down the road, I'll use the expert grid.

Depends what your thing is, Expert basically lets you customize all the characters very early on , Standard has characters with more defined class roles (Tidus is Agile/Support, Wakka is Accurate/Ailment, Auron is Strong/Debuff, Lulu is a Black Mage, Yuna is a White Mage, Rikku is a Thief , Kimahri is a Customizable Blue Mage) but in the post game the Standard grid gives you more sphere slots for stat maxing. Essentially its an early customization vs post-game power tradeoff.

Basically, yeah. When you're done playing on PS3, go to File Transfer and upload the save online. Then on Vita you have to go to File Transfer again to retrieve the file from the cloud. That's the only way it's worked for me, at least.

You know...I complained about the whole thing surrounding Yevon (the final form anyway) in an earlier thread, but now that i'm spending time with the game and actually paying attention to the story, its actually pretty interesting. Especially Tidus' inner monologues about the situation.

The SE website is blocked at my work, would anyone mind giving me the support number for Digital River?

FedEx just tried to drop off my package and charge me another $40 bucks or import fees on top of the $32 I paid for 2-3 day delivery...I know it says they might apply, but that's 50% the cost of the product itself.

EDIT: Talked to FedEx, apparently it's only supposed to be $14, which is still high but at this point I don't care.

ohh seems weird because I would have to exit the game from both. is there a way to restart the game from the menu?

So how's everyone handling leveling this time around? A decade ago I did the whole "switch everyone in to get a single hit before the end of a fight every fight" so everyone kept up with everyone. But I don't know if I have the same patience for that, and already I feel like Yuna and Kamari are slowly getting left behind.

Tidus's face doesn't bother me but Yuna's face looks like she's allergic to Meg Ryans.

Yeah, she's certainly missing some emotion.

I mean, I guess it's good for series variety, most things being new with each addition to the series. Plus, if they want to keep the style/playstyle of one they can always do the sequels like they've done with X and XIII.

People here have said that Rikku's
eyes lost their distinctive crazy swirls. They are actually still there, they've just darkened the iris.
Just picked her up myself. I'm flying through this game though. Yikes.

Though the amount of change is usually pretty low with a few exceptions (amusingly enough X is one of the big ones).

I -> II was very different since II is in many ways the origin of the SaGa games rather than final fantasy.
I->III -> IV -> V -> VI -> VII -> IX have relatively minor changes (the major change between I and III is the introduction of the Job System, IV removes the job system but introduces Active Time Battle (and characters with actual personalities), V reintroduces the job system, VI removes the job system , VII greatly expands on the way magic was learned in VI , IX does a similar thing but in a different direction (each character learns unique abilities from equipment).

VII->VIII is actually kinda different (with the way enemies scale, a very different magic system, and the junction system for abilities).

IX->X is a major change being a pure turn based game for the first time since IV.

XII is hard to place, it's different in a lot of ways and similar in others.

XIII trilogy is a pretty major departure again (moving more towards being an ARPG).

XI and IV are MMORPGs.

Long story short: II, VIII, X , XII , XIII are the non_MMORPG ones that are majorly different.

Revisiting FFX has been a delightful blast from the past. Story-wise, it's my favorite FF title. The game holds up really well and I've fallen in love with the soundtrack all over again. I plan on putting another big chunk of time into it later today. Here's to hoping for more art book packed games from Square in the future; I really dig those. On a side note: Seeing how well X came out in HD makes me very hopeful for a XII remaster.

Those are the two you need to level though.
Yuna has her fights with Belgemine and Issaru - and as far as I know, her aeons level with her. I forget with Kimahri but I think Biran and Yenke are fixed to so it can get a little bit difficult. Just make sure to use his lancet as much as you can on the fights that give him an overdrive and you should be good.

Well, crap, why would the expert sphere grid have less slots/nodes? I’m sort of a min/maxing fiend. If it’s a small difference, though, I think I can deal with it. I think I want something different this time around.

I actually replayed a majority of FFX because my save got accidentally overwritten back in the day during my initial playthrough. I always made Auron a complete badass.

Iirc you don't need to have them make a hit. All they have to do is be in the fight and they'll get xp. So all you to do is switch them in and then switch them back out when they're in battle.

They still have to perform an action of some kind even if it's just guarding. Also, let's say you start the battle and Wakka is in the first 3 fighters. You can't just switch him out straight away or he won't get any xp.

Kimahri does get easier to level after Luca , when you start running into more monsters that don't have a specialist opponent , you can bring him in for those.

Yuna remains pretty hard to level though, since her main role (healing) is better performed after battle except for boss fights, and her summons can't be healed apart from save spheres which means that although they can be used for the non-specialized monsters, they can usually only take one or two before running out of HP or MP.

After all the glowing Vita reviews in this thread I finally ordered myself a classic Vita. Should be here tomorrow! Woot!

The fastest action is switching weapons / armor , but if the enemy is going to get a turn while you switch weapons/armor guarding is a better choice for obvious reasons.
