In the Luke video at around the 6:30 mark he says that devs said you need some PVE but leadership said no.
Not surprised one bit. When it comes to creativity whether it's higher ups or a grunt worker doing it, there's something about media where people dont like following recos. Whether it's their own employees or gamers or movie watchers giving feedback, there's some kind of ultimate ego tripping where someone always thinks they're Steven Spielberg and knows what's best. And they wonder why when the product releases and everyone laughs at it. Maybe look into the endless free feedback you get from people.
It's like at my company where the marketing dept would tell the advertising agency they hire to do art and TV ads or whatever and some reason they dont want to change it because acording to them they know best. Then after back and forth stonewalling, one of our VPs or directors has to get involved and push it through by sheer rank and telling them we are paying the fees.
It's always such a weird attitude. If I do a spreadsheet and something is wrong, or someone makes a reco they think it's better, or maybe my boss says were doing it his way, you kind of take it all in stride and follow it unless there is something truly wrong with their reco like their formula or analytics are wrong. But if it sounds reasonable, you agree as a team and everything is smooth.
But I get a sense if the marketing guy tells the ad agency they want some colour adjustments or font size changes, it's always a big commotion to get them to change it. And that's even our company paying for the service. And they still kind of dont feel like doing it.
Weird people like they all think they are Picasso.
