And Greenawalt feels the game delivers ample bang for buck, even without the DLC cars. "I don't believe there has been a racing game at launch that has been this size. By a long shot. 200 plus cars, tons of environments - this is a huge game. If you play one car a day, let's say, that's 200 cars. That's a lot of value. I understand people being angry, because money is money, but this is not a short game or a small game and we're absolutely not holding anything back."

this is the only part in that interview that offers some real insight. well, as much as an official bullshit declaration can offer.

like I said, microsoft sat down and counted the content. seeing what nfs and what driveclub are launching with, they felt its still a good deal to cut material and ask another 50 euros for cars, and we will see how much for tracks.

that being said, I'm tired of dan greenwalt interviews. really! might as well watch don mattrick's old ones, as they sound the same-ish.

next interview, I want to see the turn10 code chief architect talking about what he does, his challenges etc. no more pr bullshit.

I agree.

That Sessler interview where they talked about Drivatars without much of the usual PR nonsense was really interesting. There's a really good story here about this game but we're not getting to hear it.

"We're not keeping anything back," he rather unsurprisingly began. "I think people misunderstand the way these things work. It takes us six months to build a car, so when I say there's a ten-car pack launching day one - they're not done. We're not done with them yet.

This 6 months sounds wrong. If PD takes 6 months to model a car, with only in-house resources what is T10 doing, or what are their outsourced modelers doing, or did they ditch outsourcing companies, and started modelling in-house!?!? In which case, it would explain low car count.

Does anybody have better insight whether T10 still uses outsourced companies to model their cars!?

I don't know how long it takes to make a car, but it isn't a task that is helped by throwing people at it. You have the 3D artist, the physics programmer, maybe a sound person. Outsourcing those things isn't going to make the man hours required less, nor can you add more mans to make the hours go by in fewer days.

That's exactly where I was! Wasn't that TV awful? I mean, it was huge, and the bezel was tiny, and it definitely could be gorgeous with some calibration. But I've never seen red clipping like this TV was doing.

Was it a female employee trying to school you on how to play a racer with the controller, a Forza game no less? Man, that set had Seca looking like a Red Faction game. Even my wife, who is one of those who thinks all TV's are calibrated out of the box, told the worker to "adjust your tint setting". I had to walk away to keep them both from seeing me lol.

Dan (Badned, Helios, friggin' Che, someone) please realize we (at least a good number of us) request tracks. Cars are nice, tracks are better.

those random things scattered on the track.....

EDITOR ????

(looks bad tbh :p)

In a recent preview they said that in one of the Top Gear events you had to race around the Top Gear Test Track littered with cardboard cutouts that are meant to make it feel like you are driving through London.

so, apparently we are ten days away from launch, and the os stupid features seem to work just fine...

maybe next time I see some "insider" setting up a complex way to spread fud and not get banned, I will point it out..

so many hours I lost trying to search about this "broken" feature... console warriors shame on you! cause thats what you are. not insiders..

Why do you care so much? It's a fucking box made of plastic and silicon.

Still holding on to more comprehensive information on Forza before venturing out to pickup the Xbone next week.

It's meant to be a goofy race based on the crazy stuff they do on the show. Duh

I found this to be one of the neater, glad they're thinking out of the box, things we had heard.

Well it was a joke from my side since it's pretty obvious what's going on there. Can't speak for the others :)

Yeah, I knew you were joking...I +'ed you by accident, derp.

Anyway, here's a Xbox One Launch gif I made. I'll post it here since it features Forza at the beginning.

20mb version here. LOL, it was 163mb when I started....had to keep chopping and tweaking.

most gimmick crap yay, i wondered if they expanded beyond bowling and football

@pharaoh
well, 60 frames (and locked) is in my opinion a very important thing, especially in racers.
I can even say that high framerate is important in a racing game, even when the physics are absent. it just makes racing more interesting, even if arcade.
having spend thousands of hours in various racing games, sure makes my opinion set on grounds and not easy to shift.

now, for me it is easy to see where they "spend" the hardware resources in this game.
and what I see is good enough to go on and buy a stupid xbone for it.

I can understand all the people that maybe expect a completely jaggy free image, or the highest possible detail everywhere, but realistically speaking, you are not going to get that.
for months everybody is raging about xbone being a glorified 7790, and suddenly EVERYBOY expects that forza will launch 1080/60 with 4xmsaa and a shitton of post processing?
I mean, is my coffee drugged here or what?

I guess I just expected... more. Anyway, it's all good man. Maybe next time, maybe next time...

PS: Still waiting for laser-scanned Nordschleife.

I don't see it, it just looks like the shader appears to stay the same color even when driving through the shadows. Like I said, it looks ok in the recent builds, but other than the aliasing everyone else that saw the video pointed out the issues with the shadows.
Again, that's because for some inexplicable reason, shadows don't show up on parts of the car that has reflections... which unfortunately makes up almost the entire car itself, hence why people thought they're missing. However, the less....reflective... portions do get covered in shadows accordingly:

Anyway... point is, environmental shadows do exist, even in that build.

The gist of it is ---- 3000 layers on each side, 3000 layers on the roof and hood/bonnet, and 1000 on the front and rear!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sweet...SWEET..news if true.
