In Defense of S.T.E.A.M.: A Great, Original Game Is About To Fall Through The Cracks!

This game is pretty much Kid Icarus Uprising Part 2. You will either learn to forgive the game's most talked about flaws and have a pretty fun time or have a diehard hate for the game. I will say that it keeps the player much more engaged later on than in the early levels given how there is so much more to cover once you have a full party of four along with subweapons, boilers, multiple characters to choose, and their supers to take into account.

Some of the level design and combat scenarios are also pretty unforgiving since an unprepared player can get swarmed and annihilated in one enemy turn if they aren't careful. Codename Steam basically pounds it into your head to make your choices very carefully when picking team members and loadouts. Generally I play a level for ~5 minutes before going back to the start of the mission to respec my team and adjust a roster until I get a good start on the level. Overall, I guess my point is that the game has a ton of strategic elements at play to keep it engaging but it also requires a bit of patience so if you are quick to frustrate and get anxious with long enemy turns, then this game will probably piss you off. :p

People have finally started uploading the OST, and finally I can share my favorite song perhaps in the game:

Under The Surface III

This was the first song that made me go "wow", and it's really unique. I hope if we get S.T.E.A.M. representation in a future Smash, we get a remix of this.

FINALLY.

Man this one is so good: Liberating Boston

EDIT: I think this one was my favorite: Lurkers in the Graves

Excited to see what Hirano works on next. Easily one of my favorite composers.

There's a speed-up patch (2x 3DS, 3x N3DS) coming soon as revealed in the Direct.

So, so glad now more people will give this game a chance. I grew accustomed to the turns as I played, so I don't need it, but it makes possible replays better.
