(I used to do it differently in older Mario Karts - hold the gas, then tap the gas alot when the timer reaches Go.)

Someone in here earlier - sorry that I don't remember your username - said that it's easier to watch Lakitu's hand. He'll raise it right after the '2' appears, and you can time your button press with that.

Either way, it's extremely easy to get the timing right when you know it. There's a pretty big window.

The latest 3DS update added a little add friend button to the top right hand corner of the friend list so you don't have to scroll to the beginning every time.

honestly, first place has it made. all you have to worry about is a random blue shell. if you're in the middle of the pack you have to worry about bananas and stars and bullet bills and shells and shells and shells.

I haven't joined the community yet, but this game seems way more balanced than past attempts. We'll see how the online develops when players begin rising to the top.

There have been times where I've had 10 coins while using a Bruiser/Slick combo and still watched people in the default kart setup pull away from me as I'm trying to overtake them. It doesn't make any sense.

It feels like I have much better success in general if I favor an acceleration setup because high-end speed never seems to show up.

I learned something vaguely interesting... the Community feature is not "exclusive."

That is, you don't have to join the community to -play- in the community. It appears that anyone in your friend list can do the "Join This Player" thing and join you even when you're in a community game. I don't know if that adds the third party TO the community, but I do know that it might make it harder to do "walled off" games.

In other words, anyone on your Friend List can join you in any community game -- and, I presume, in any game at any time.

All the gliders have identical stats apart from the default one.

I've become partial towards to Bee cart which is funny because I thought it looked silly when I first saw it in screenshots.

i use B-dasher + mushroom + swooper

i'm thinking about switching the kart since the low acceleration has got me a few times. the combo does help if i manage to get away from the pack though so it is a tough decision.

Standard kart, standard wheels, standard glider. Green kart for my green Mii.

I know my performance is probably suffering but I really don't like the 'whacky' kart designs.

Donkey Kong: Barrel Train, Wooden Wheels, any glider
Shyguy: Clown Car, Slick Wheels, Swooper Glider

I always ignore my phone while playing an online game then check it once I'm done. What's really annoying is getting a phone call while playing single player because of the stupid pause button.
