Naughty Dog Announces Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Pete flat out said ALL women who are bald/shaved are super unattractive for “normal heterosexual men”, in post #1,581, in response to being asked about the actress herself. So yes, Pete’s argument apparently extends to real women.

And in fucking poor taste considering my cousin has been battling breast cancer for a while now and has had to shave her head this year, so you know, hearing a guy casually declare all bald/shaved women as objectively unattractive (since he claims this is true for all “normal heterosexual men”) is legit disgusting behavior in my eyes. Dude could have just said he prefers long hair, but nah, he had to go the insulting route.

But I like to believe my cousin’s husband is a decent enough guy to still find her attractive in spite of that, so at least she’s with someone who, “apparently”, isn’t a “normal heterosexual man” based on Pete’s argument.

Seriously, Pete, WTF?!

And he can get criticized for it the exact same way Drunkmann’s tastes are in this very thread.

Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta was the first one I noticed back in the day, but this is a solid pick too.

For real, if anything the hottest women can manage just fine without long hair. Like, unless someone finds nothing about a woman attractive EXCEPT her hair, the idea that a bald/shaved woman could never be attractive is just laughable to me.

Like, that’s like being given your favorite ice cream with all your favorite toppings, but turning it down because it came in a bowl and not a waffle cone. Like, the ice cream should be what you’re here for, getting hung up on the waffle cone is a rookie move.
Take it up with the guy who said that then lol. Not me.

But I will say that there is a reason why women who lose their hair from cancer often get wigs, and there are even charities to help them with that. And it's not necessarily because men don't find it attractive (and, yea, in general, we don't). It is something that they struggle with as well.

"Why is everyone just reacting to the character design?" -- the thing is, the whole trailer was nothing but a kind of fetishistic salivating over this character. There are times when you can too uncomfortably feel a director's distinct fetish, the gaze of the camera, and this is one of those cases.

It's basically a mini-porno for a certain type of man who finds this particular female fantasy erotic. We open to her shaving her head with a shot gazing over her scars, tattoos, manly shoulders... basically the only idea behind the shot is "power androgyny." Then the conversation with her handler is nothing but a series of "I'm too badass to care" tropes with shots of her muscular arms and attitude, on and on to the point where it starts to get embarrassing to watch.

Don't let anyone try to tell you "not all female protagonists need to give you a boner, just let her be!" because it's 100% a lie to suggest that the badass-lesbian-androgynous heroine is anything but a different 100% sexual fetish. And some of us will never give a dime to a game if it's going to end up in the pockets of a sad man/team who enjoys that kind of thing; we find them fundamentally gross.

"Look, I'm a seasoned gooner and I can recognize another gooners work by instinct. I'm a gooner of impeccable taste, and chicks with balds heads that makes you want to lick them is 100% the work of a gooner with terrible taste. You all agree with me right"

Thats the issue here… Some people like me don’t want any political agenda in video games, it doesn’t matter if is well done or not, the world is full of that shit already.

What is the political agenda in this trailer exactly? A woman having a shaved head is a political agenda?

Not surprising at all. It could have been worse I guess, It could have been a "woman" lead, It is naughty dog after all, sigh, I'll pass.

Well said.

In bold, the people stating this are 1 dimensional in thought.

I'm sure her look is turning some people off, but honestly that's just more generic and bland than off-putting. I think it's the snippets they tried to convey on her personality that were giving the ehhhhh vibes.

Overtly tough, superhero-ish level reckless abandon (not even a whiff of hesitation when told the over-the-top issues of the planet, just a little too much) and the smug, condescending slurping of her drink... that's not cool or badass, it's rude and juvenile. I guess that's the vibe people think Star Lord gives off, but I don't see that at all. I just can't think of any male leads that push this type of personality, so I don't get why we've seen this with multiple female protaganists.

Really not sure what they're going for, but we need to see more.

Love the Porsche ship; hate the enemy design. Why do most strong female protagonists seem so generic. Devs need to sell a character. Would love to see a prisoner tattoo on her or some scars.

Some love it pulled like reins when clapping cheeks from the back tho.
That's the single useful application. Other than that it gets in your mouth, keeps tangling around your dick and you have to keep making sure you don't step on it or pin down by accident and hurt the lady, while engaging in just about any form of gymnastics more advanced than bible approved starfishing

Yeah, Star-Lord is actually funny. She was just annoying.

Also anyone saying Tati Gabrielle is anything other than stunning, I won't be taking anything you have to say about... anything seriously

Don’t flaccid penis shame people, we can’t help what gets us hard. She’s not my thing but good for you. But gaf is on to something what if this doesn’t have anything to do with a woke character design, what if this is just what gets Neil off.

If Naughty Dog is to be believed, all black/minority women are unattractive. Some how, they keep giving us all these unattractive minority characters as if they're trying to also say something about the attractiveness of minorities in general and they're not the only devs that do this either. Completely off-putting and very suspect.
A black artist who i believed worked at ND at one point mentioned this. They go out of their way to make black women ugly. it's racist even though they are liberal.

I remember bitching about this way back in 2017 when they went out of their way to uglify Chloe after giving her an indian heritage. I was like wtf. They also gave Nadine a really ugly hairdo and made her look like a man after she looked somewhat nice and feminine in the first game.

That said, they do this with all of their female characters. White or black. The same rules are not applied to male characters who are allowed to be sexy, fit and masculine regardless of race or ethnicity. they hate women. thats all.

I made this year ago. still holds true.

Except... we open with a shot of a globe and a spaceship, close with a shot of a spaceship(before the stinger) and are mostly following her from behind the entire trailer til the ending

I think you're projecting a bit

Baffling part is that nose rings have been a mainstream thing for like 30 years now. Next thing you know they'll start wearing pants and speaking when you introduce them!

Septum rings haven't been a mainstream thing for 30 years, that's a recent (and for me completely inexplicable) fad. Why would anyone want to look like a cow?

So much more playful and self-deprecating. Can't forget too he does it in a team setting, there is no vibe from him of 'I can do it on my own', 'you can't stop me!', etc.

They could totally be doing this same thing, we don't know yet. Not saying this won't work, but this snippet needs more because what they've showed is not inspiring to be a lead character YOU PLAY AS.

I don't understand why there can't be some in between. Western developer strong females are always the same shaved or short haired girl bosses with quirky quips and 1-liners. Asian devs are all overly busty girls in tight everything. Are normal looking girls not allowed to be protagonists?

GoTG success really influenced some recent games.

SW Outlaws
Concord
Intergalactic

All going for that retro sci-fi setting with a female badass lead (or Concord with about half).

It does seem to work for the movies (all highly rated games making big sales), but games wise doesn't seem as easy to pull off. But key thing is GotG doesn't push the man-girl message.

GoTG unfortunately flopped hard and the studio was sold off. Such a travesty considering how impeccable Guardians of the Galaxy was from gameplay/narrative stand point. Such a great game.

Trying to think of a game with a worse name than this.

It's like they just pulled a bunch of words out of a bag.

She has scars in the back of her head which might explain the head shaving. ND is also known for flashbacks, so there will probably be full head of hair scenes.

Intergalactic is solid. The subtitle is stupid, and should've just been left off. It's a new IP, you don't need a subtitle guys.

No one says anything when a guy is bald.
The community don't like sexy women because it objectifies them.
The community doesn't like real women, either (it is the case in this game; this isn't a SWO's scenario).
Inb4: The community always argues and is never happy.

Me? I couldn't care less as long as the game is great.
