Itd be a shame if neils taste in women was more refined than gafs but it's looking like it.
Shaved heads are a staple in sci fi, its both practical and, at the time it started beign used was a way to make the women look more removed from traditional human aesthetic.

The visuals in this are insane. The motion fluidity, animations, lip-synching, textures, lighting. So above everything we've seen. PS6 level. And I don't know what sorcery are they using but it feels sooo SMOOTH, 244 Hz level of silk.

Who knows. Maybe it isnt even so much about women power or cheesy politics. But a part of it is gamers dont give a shit about campy 1980s vibe space games?

Attractiveness is sure subjective but calling her manly in that first film is silly
Now in later films after fighting aliens and literally becoming a space marine and getting stranded on a planet with convicts, sure she becomes much more hardened which is also why this character model doesn’t bother me for this game

True, but that kind of beats the purpose of their aesthetic role. It's a lot like anal sex – looks great on paper, but once you actually start, you quickly realize that its lack of utility (i.e., the need to outsource lube) just weighs down on it too much. But I digress

I should love everything about it, but I feel absolutely nothing towards the main character. She's not likeable. They said they used cowboy bebop and Akira as inspiration. But the trailer made me feel nothing. I love space games and space adventures have been crazy lacking. My main music I listen to is synth wave and 80s synth, I love the aesthetic they have. So I should love it and be hyped. But I feel cold....and how the hell do you go from inspiration like cowboy bebop with spike and and up with their bland and unlikable MC I have no idea.

showed gives an entirely different perspective, but at first glance, Sigourney Weaver doesn't come across as a "babe". Not to me, at least. Men obviously have varying opinions as far as what they find attractive. Regardless, Weaver nailed the part and that is what is most important. Time will tell if is the case with this new ND actress/character. I'm hopeful it will be.

Which is a real shame because a ton of people are going to write off what could be an incredible game. A studio that is capable doing of making such great games shouldn’t be actively doing things they know will piss off a lot of their long time customers. The first Last of Us shows Neil can make great a great game that appeals to everyone when he has someone as a counter to some of his ideas.

Maybe they're going for the 80s sci-fi vibes with that as well. The 80s fantasy movies were major cringe writing in that regards but amazing movies all at the same time. The movies and actors literally revolved around cheesy catchphrases.

No way this is out in 2025, this is definitely a 2026 or even 2027 release.
^Agreed, the trailer wasn't as good as the last of us reveal but it was CGI, its way too early to make any judgments without seeing gameplay at least.
I though the Witcher 4 trailer was terrible also because we should be seeing gameplay at this point, CGI does nothing for me.
Back in the day, they revealed games by doing gameplay walkthroughs on the E3 stage, we need to get back to that. CGI trailers are pointless even if its in engine.

Spike was instantly interesting and likeable from the second he was onscreen, from what I recall (it's been a few years). Maybe she is likeable, but they definitely didn't portray it in their first impressions trailer. I got more feels from that flying through space initial teaser in concord.

Since the game wont be released for years, gamers will have all the time and freedom to keep making fun until ND releases another trailer (which might rectify the first impression). But that trailer might not come out for another year. Open season for laughs and more dislikes. lol
