This character didn't have big boobs or a big butt, but the design still turned out better. They came up with a damn boring character visually, without even going to extremes, and no, the red jacket = Akira doesn't save this design.

Either way doesn't impact the actual gameplay of the game. There are games where you can play attractive female MC in gaming. I just see people whining anytime one isn't, while others whine when a female MC is attractive. Its juvenile and dumb.

Yes but my read was that the guns will be a secondary thing rather than the primary weapon - at least that’s how I interpreted it from what was shown, would love to be wrong

Big companies will turn to dust until they figure out people want good games with a good story or a great artistic vision at a reasonable price. I just see a bad interactive movie and you can buy tickets for those at the theater and popcorn for less then $70.

Some additional details about the game from Tassi...
- The confirmed cast is Tati Gabrielle, Kumail Nanjiani and Halley Gross (not an eyepatched Sigourney Weaver, as some theorized). Gross is an actress but most recently co-wrote The Last of Us Part 2 with Druckmann. Gabrielle co-starred in the Uncharted movie and will play Nora in The Last of Us season 2.
- The story centers on a fictious religion and “what happens when you put your faith in different institutions.” “Heretic Prophet” was certainly a clue that religion was involved. It is an “emotional, character-driven epic journey.”
- The game took its vibe and aesthetic inspiration from the likes of Akira and Cowboy Bebop. It takes place in an alternate universe where space travel has significantly advanced by 1986.
- Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are doing the score after famously working on Gone Girl, Challengers and The Social Network.
- The game has had 250 devs working on it for four years, in addition to other artists from outside the studio. It does not have a release date or even release year. 2026 may be a safe bet, if it doesn’t slip to 2027.

Intriguing. So this is actually set in the 80s in an alternate universe
250 devs since 2020 - so has this been in full on production since then? They must have been working on it for longer than that in terms of concepting the IP.
Late 2026 or 2027 makes sense. It should be pretty far along at this point. The teaser of gameplay looked fucking awesome. The idea of their combat with Melee/Shooting and making it much faster with a lot more enemy variety is really compelling. I also expect vehicles in this game and exploration since it's featured on a planet.

Would love some space battles as well, but that probably isn't ND's style. I'm wondering if it will be all action or will there be some stealth missions as well. ND very well could win a lot of people over with some awesome gameplay trailers in the future now that they have the character reveal out of the way. Hope so.

Sure, Jan. Neil Druckmann ain't going to become CEO of playstation. He's more of a creative and I think he's happy in his role at the studio and working with cross media ventures. Even if he did, Neil has a great track record, so I don't think that would be the worst news in the world even if it were true.

This game will sell half of what it could had they simply tailored the game towards the majority male audience (Sci-Fi genre addressable market is typically 60% - 70% male). Instead they made the game for modern leftists just like Concord, Veilguard and the rest of the recent development studio destroying flops. Sorry to break it to you Neil, leftists don’t actually buy the games! Shame you traded your authentic audience for a mere sliver of the addressable market pie.

Man, this game wants SO BAD to be Guardians of the Galaxy, at least based on the style of the setting. Coupled with Concord obviously aping the exact same style, I feel like this is heading into well-charted territory that people are obviously feeling fatigue.

Activists don't care. Look at all the failed woke products the last 10 years. So many games/shows/movies bombed and they are still at it. Look at all recent Disney's failures, one would wonder how the hell aren't they bankrupt already?
I don't know how they are kept afloat and i won't go into conspiracy theories but it's obvious that failure in the market doesn't really affect them much.
Just call that shit out once or twice, don't buy it even when it's a deal and play/watch something else. People will eventually get sick of it and there's going to be something else ruining games and media in the future.

Tonally, sure, it’ll be totally different.
But on a surface level, a plucky main character who is obsessed with the 80’s, playing into nostalgia with loads of references, obvious product placement… there’s no denying that it was made by someone who watched Guardians of the Galaxy and was heavily influenced by it. The tone of the story will be entirely different, but they chose to show what they did for obvious reason, which is to draw comparison.
And to be clear, it’s not even to say anything shown looks “bad” per se. But it’s pretty tired territory.

I'm interested to see what they've got in mind. And how much it will deviate from their usual interactive movie scheme. Or will it be some kind of Uncharted 4 (which has open locations and car rides). But they missed the mark with the main character's design, from my point of view, and not in the sense that there's something wrong with her, the model is actually very well detailed. There's no special feature that would catch the eye, it's too boring. We already had, for example of a girl with a bald head, this is Jack from Mass Effect, but there her appearance was brought out to be interesting due to her tattoos, an extremely unusual and provocative costume, and this was complemented by her complex character and behavior. Let's see what they'll get here, but purely visually the main character lacks some special feature that the eye could catch. All that remains is to hope for an interestingly written character.

I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed by a game reveal. I LOVE Naughty Dog. Crash was the first video game I ever played. I loved the Jak series. I loved Uncharted. The Last of Us parts 1 and 2 are both among my all time favorites.
In saying all that, I cannot fucking believe how little I felt watching that trailer. I just have no desire to step into the shoes of this character. She checks all the boxes of the modern day girl boss archetype and I am just so fucking tired of it at this point. There was nothing in the trailer that made me want to learn more about her. I already know she’s a snarky rebel who doesn’t take shit from nobody. Cool.
I’m gonna give this game a fair chance because if anybody has earned the benefit of the doubt, it’s Naughty Dog. I would love to eat a big plate of crow, but not impressed so far.
