Well you all realize that so far the majority of the competitions have only been "QUALIFING" rounds, and they are not medal rounds, so if you see beach volleyball or Gymnastics, most likely its qualifiing, and the medals wont be until 2 or 3 days from now, then I am sure the stands will be packed.

Gary Hall Jr.'s complaint about not being on the relay is legitimate too since Phelp's split was slower than his split in the morning if I'm not mistaken.

Why should they watch an event that half the population didn't even want? Plus I doubt those tickets are cheap, and they've gotta save up all their scratch for paying off this overpriced monstrosity for the next thirty years (if they're lucky).

Actually, I heard for some reason that they weren't letting people into some of the bottom tiers. I didn't exactly catch the reason, but apparently there are plenty of people in the upper tiers...still not a full house for most events, but better than you'd think. And since the camera rarely pans up that high, you don't really notice it.

The basketball team does indeed suck but then that was no surprise considering how the prima donas performed before the games.

Phelps problem is that he is trying to many events. Phelps did swim a good 200, American record but Thorpe has owned this event for some time.

Phelps should have contested 5 events at most.

Garry Hall Jr. should never have been bumped off the final though the crap start from Croker ened it barely after it began.

US womens basketball looks pretty solid.

Add to that how the state sponsors sports academy's that basically train kids to compete in olympic events from early childhood and it shouldn't surprise anyone.

As the country gets richer, expect them to only dominate the olympics more.
