Episode two, if I remember correctly, opened with an alien that lived off orgasms and shagged someone in a toilet at a club whilst someone monitoring the CCTV booth having a wank.

TV GOLD.

I might be wrong on that cos I don't want to watch it again.

Torchwood was just X-Files, except instead of aliens wanting to kill you, they all want to have sex with you. Even season 2 was mostly crap. But there were a few standout episodes. I didn't think Children of Earth was worth all the hype, it was just an improvement on a bad show.

Characters just weren't likable, except for Gwen. Even Jack's an unlikeable douche in the show.

I think the only time Jack wasn't an unlikeable douche was in his original run of episodes. He's been a disaster in every other episode of anything he's been in.

So what happened is Torchwood canceled or is it coming back?

Coming back. It's being partially funded by an American company. Star...something, I think. It's also changing location to, um, somewhere in America. Chicago? Hell with it, yeah. Chicago.

It's back baby. Summer 2011! All your favorite characters are back! (and Gwen and Jack)

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the writing team for series four of Torchwood has been selected by Executive Producer and Lead Writer Russell T Davies.

John Shiban
John Shiban is an Emmy Award nominated American television writer and producer. He has worked on The X-Files and its spin-off The Lone Gunmen, Smallville, Legend of the Seeker and Breaking Bad.

Doris Egan
Doris Egan is an American screenwriter, producer, and writer. She has worked on Smallville, Dark Angel, and House.

Jane Espenson
Jane Espenson is an American television writer and producer who has worked on both situation comedies and serial dramas. She is perhaps best known for her five-year stint as a writer and producer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, work for which she shared in a Hugo Award, and as showrunner for Caprica.

John Fay
John Fay is a British television writer who wrote two episodes of Torchwood, Children of Earth. His work includes episodes of Clocking Off, Blue Murder and Robin Hood. Fay spent several years on the writing staff of Coronation Street, and created the three-part ITV drama series Mobile.

For Season 4 of Torchwood, John Barrowman will return as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles will be back as Gwen Cooper. Casting is underway for several new characters. Filming on the Starz-BBC co-production will begin in January for transmission later in 2011.

Some movies on Netflix are added by Starz (they have a little logo thing at the beginning). Other than that they're the same as you'd get on DVD.

The new characters sound amazing.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the new episodes - which will be co-produced by the BBC and US network Starz - will introduce new regular Rex Matheson, a "CIA agent born to make waves" with a "wicked" sense of humour.

The show will also introduce two new recurring characters - Oswald Jones, a convicted murderer and paedophile, and Esther Katusi, a young CIA agent "who learns what she’s really made of only when she’s forced to".

There could be something there...

Hey man, it's an adult show. For adults. And adults swear and kill and fuck. It's the gritty realism that is life.

Would have to be one really young CIA agent. :lol

You know, "Luke, I am your father", right

Torchwood is going to update that for the gritty and adult generation.

"Esther, I killed your father. Then watched you in the bath as a child."

From Urban Dictionary:

Snarg:
  • Snarg is one of the widest known celebrities among the gaming forums today. Everytime he posts, people are awestruck by just seeing him post and have to make threads, "SNARGG!!", "SNARG IS THE MAN", or something similar just wanting him to post in their threads as it makes you more of a man if he does. Where did Snarg start you ask? He started out at blizzhackers. He was and still is today the greatest Admin ever, still at EoN. One day he was sent off to the War, and still finds time and pays money to keep his forum manageable. He comes on once in a while, does his duty, and gets back to duty. Pun intended. He is like a god among us, godsended from the heights above. Many people try to fake his name on other forums in ways to achieve a Scam. Snarg doesn't ever scam, he owns. He'll own until the day he dies. Many of us would give out own heart to him if needed. He's like a new cd, when everything else is to scratched to play. If you don't admire Snarg for his achievements in the d2 community, forum community, or just awesomeness, then you have to admire his bravery for defending us while watching over us. Thank you Snarg.

Say, Keyser, where exactly did you get snarg from?

Doctor Who Magazine 424: Moffat's Production Notes

"Ah, yes, Fnarg, remember that? What shall we call this one? Season Kazreen? Season Otter? I like that, shall we go for it? Actually, on this subject, it's time for a confession. I always called it Series Five. Never Fnarg, never Season One, never Season Thirty-One - always Five."

and "Though you shold know that while I was calling it Series Five, I was calling the next series Series Two. Sometimes in the same sentence. - 'Sorry Neil, can't afford to do your episode in Series Five - we'll save it for Series Two.' What? What?! It's moments like that they take me to the Calm Room, with the Nice Man, and it's all 'Otters? Why otters, Steven? Are you afraid of otters?"

And it says the real reason for budget problems was cos Stephen was left in the office and he spent the entire budget on sweets.

Alright, you've got me there. But just one thing - you sold us out, Moffat! You sold us out.

There were budget problems in Series 5??? Wow. I can't wait to see the show without budget problems then.

From what I've read, the show either had its budget frozen or trimmed - pretty damn impressive to see what they managed given that, especially compared to previous series.

Remember Children Of Earth that five night miniseries event? Yeah that was Torchwood Season 3....not just part of it that was the whole thing. Let me repeat...Torchwood Season 3 lasted less than a week.

They generally have a habbit of putting several of their shows up for streaming the day after it airs. Thus the implicatio here is that Americans who don't subscribe to Starz but subscribe to Netflix will still be able to catch Torchwood U.S or whatever they call it...

Trimmed, I think.

It wasn't so much huge problems - and the comment was made regarding moving Gaimon's episode, which is extremely expensive. Twas replaced with Amy's Choice for cheap.

But there will have been long term expenses - like the TARDIS and also some of the Daleks. As well as getting new cameras etc.

Good to know. Which episode did Gaimon do?

My wife is watching the show from the start. Y'all would like her...she hates Rose. :lol

It's episode 3 of next year's series - was too much for this year.

You know what would be hilarious? If he did the opposite of whatever everybody is expecting him to do and do a silly, light-hearted episode.

Amy's Choice was one of the more aesthetically awesome episodes. Well, um, except for the eye stalks, that is. So well shot - and I adored the frozen Tardis.

You know as much fun as Moffat is having trolling internt kids over what season this is. in the end it will probably be known simply as "5" simply because for marketomg reasons. I know over her if you tried to put out the season as "1" people would get confused due to there already being a season one DVD. Even though the show is much more popular in the UK I still can't imagine it being released as anything other the series 5....
