I have a feeling that even Moffat won't deliver this.

The most exciting news is
"Episodes Four and Five see the return of Alex Kingston as River Song." That's a confirmed double parter right there, yeah?

(Episodes 12 and 13 spoilers)
She's also coming back for the finale, which apparently features Stonehenge in one way or another

I hope that the "Big Bad" is something new this year I'm tired of the whole "Oh remember them from the classic era" approach they use now...

I'd be pretty happy if it was Sutekh. Or Omega. Or something awesome and godlike. Just as long as it's not the Rani.

Take this with a grain of salt (but also some precaution, since it may be true), but it's rumored that the "big bad" for this year is
River Song

I'd like for the Christmas special to not involve the destruction of Earth for once...please Moffat?

Might be a stupid question:

Is there a place in the US where I can get the most recent Doctor Who magazine issues? Barnes and Noble carries the magazine but they're always a month behind on the newest issues. I think a subscription for US readers is something like $120 for 6 issues or something insane like that.

I thought it said Gaiman was writing the second episode of Matt Smith Doctor Who and I got really excited.

Then I re-read it half an hour later and realized he's writing AN episode for the second SEASON of Matt Smith Doctor Who :(

Since this thread seems to be viewed by a lot of old Who afficianados, what are the best Dalek episodes from the classic series? I think I've only seen Genesis of the Daleks and Resurrection of the Daleks.

Rememberace of the Daleks was a lot of fun....and Day of The Daleks in a kitsch 70's way. I've a soft spot for Destiny, because it has the greatest line in Dr Who ever:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hS0bCSLx8JI :lol

Revelation doesn't really feature the Daleks all that much, but it has some awesome Davros action. Moving further back.... Evil of The Daleks & Dalek's Masterplan are legendary classics, sadly they don't exist anymore. Thanks BBC!

I'm quite fond of Dalek Invasion of Earth. There's a slightly expressionistic quality to it in places. If you get the DVD, turn the CGI FX on. Usually these are pretty pointless, but DIOE had really bad FX in places which rather spoil the mood, and the CGI FX are tastefully done.

I've read the entire script for Power of the Daleks, its probably my favourite Dalek episode.

The Daleks are deceptive, efficient, cunning, murderous bastards, and exterminate everyone as soon as they are able.

Peter McKinstry's site (www.petermckinstry.com) has lots of concept art from all the Tennant seasons', as well as Harry Potter and Torchwood. Some of it is familiar, but some of it is different to what ended up on screen. Moffat, these cybermen please!

Nice Cyberman...but the Daleks shows that....you should never mess with the Dalek design. It's perfect.

I always liked these Cybermen from the Dark Dimension special before it got cancelled.

But nothing beats the Slipknot redesign someone posted on Outpost Gallifrey. Please Moffat - give the 8 year olds nightmares to haunt them into their teens! :lol

I really like this version of the beast instead of the one we got in the show. This one seems a bit more malicious and the darkness behind him is better than him standing in a pool of lava.

I'm getting it shortened as I have no intention of wearing it as long as Tennant did but otherwise it fits very well. Great coat and I'll have pics when I get it back from the tailors.

That's not too far from the original design from the Hartnell era. They were quite unsettling with their gaping mouths and bizarre speech patterns:

I reckon you could tidy the design up a bit and create something pretty effective on a fraction of the budget the "Cybus" models cost.

If there's one thing I've learned from McKinstry's designs and the general pre-production designs from other designers - if you have a great initial design, the Who production team will ignore it and produce something shitter. Those Sontaron's are PERFECT. And what did they do - make them retarded little bluebells.

So apparently the BBC release for Matt Smith has been leaked? It seems to contain new spoilers.

Radio Free Skaro said:
A new era of Doctor Who begins in Spring 2010. This latest series of the BBC’s flagship drama programme sees Matt Smith’s debut as the new, Eleventh incarnation of the famous Time Lord alongside a new travelling companion, the enigmatic Amy Pond (Karen Gillan).

Together they explore
16th century Venice, France during the 1890s and the United Kingdom in the far future, now an entire nation floating in space.

As always, wherever the Doctor goes, his oldest enemies are never far behind – the Daleks are hatching a new master plan from the heart of war-torn London in the 1940s. But they are not the only strange creatures the Doctor and Amy must face – there are also alien vampires. humanoid reptiles, old enemies such as the Weeping Angels, a Star Whale, and a silent menace that follows Amy and the Doctor around wherever they go…

The Star Whale sounds cool.

There's a big difference between drawing something and making a real prosthetic an actor can wear.

Like I said in the pick-up thread. The lining is nowhere near as bright in person. It's the same colour as the TARDIS and just happens to be very reflective.

The brown looks a bit dark, wasn't the jacket on the show a touch lighter?

It definitely looks darker in that pic but in the right light it looks about the same as the above. Also, the material isn't the same which might have a lot to do with how it shows up in images.

Also the lapels appear to be much wider on this coat. Apparently they were pressed differently at the request of Tennant. The original design had them much larger.

I want it naaao!

Around this time just before season 4 started we had a cinema trailer out. Hoping for the same or at least more info soonish, i'm having withdrawals.

Darth Sonik

we need more FPS games
Surely the new series will start on the Easter weekend.

Semi Fake Edit:

I am already in love with Karen Gillan. I hope reality doesn't break the spell. :D

Me as well. Damn, I wish there were more pictures of her online. And she is like nearly 6' tall too right? Jesus.

I think she's worn more short skirts in the promo shots then Piper, Freema and Tate did in a whole 5 years worth of the 'new who'. :lol (RTD's choice in women was pretty poor and let's face it, they ALWAYS worse jeans or trousers).

My anticipation for Amy Pond isn't the only thing rising...

And as for Smith...I really do think 13 episodes on from his debut we'll forget Tennant even existed.
