At this point in 2012 campaigns spent a total of $35M on advertisements. The biggest spenders being Romney ($8.5M) and Obama ($7.4M). The 2016 election is currently at $111M spent with the Bush campaign spending more than what the entire field spend at this point in 2012 at $38.1M.
Trump and Cruz still spending very little.
