Because Bernie didn't know when to quit. It was pretty obvious in April that he had lost, but he decided to force her to continue to campaign anyway. It was entirely pointless fighting.
She only had to fight because literally any other politician would have dropped out because it was hopeless with that kind of margin. 200-300 delegate lead is insurmountable. She ended up with around a 400 lead. It has never been done in electoral history since we had have the current modern system.
The best comeback from was 70 delegates behind. Her lead was 5-6 times as large.

He didn't "get" further, he forced it. To "get a lot further" it would imply he stuck around because he was making unprecedented wins in states and it looked like he could win if he stuck to it. That wasn't the case. He was done and continued to pretend (and mislead his donors) that there was still a chance he could win, when everyone (and likely even him) knew that wasn't possible.

Great example of why Hillary and Nintendo make the best video game / politics methaphor. Both have to deal with irrational haters who want them to apologize for basically being alive, and who invariably reveal more about themselves than the target of their criticism.
But for people who care about the fundamentals (Policy/Mechanics), accept no substitutions.
Yeah, I don't get this negativity. Between Pokémon Go, Super Mario Run and the NES Classic Edition, what gaming company has more mainstream buzz and momentum right now?
She married Bill Clinton, fake democrat who sold out the left in the in the 90s for no reason, and by law of marriage, adopted full ownership to everything in the 90s regardless of her ability to exist as a distinct person, or any political reality of the time.
One time used the word "superpredators", demonstrating her inner racism.
Failed to adopt Bernie's left wing positions such as unfettered gun access for all Americans. After all, can't a guy make a buck in this country?
Failed to shout "break up the banks" at the top of her lungs for six straight months, instead selfishly focusing on the practical details of financial regulation, just like a republican
Voted for the Iraq War, thereby demonstrating that if she were president in 2003, she would have done the exact same thing. After all, it's only fair to judge her by the same standards people apply to John Kerry.
Famously only moves to the left after being forced to, because she has no moral core. For example, just see how late to the game she has always been on lead, children's health, autism, alzheimer's, and mental health.
wtf at the health graph?! From that later split, if we assume Trump voters comprised 35% of the poll, that accounts for 25 of the 33% total. If you removed Trump voters from the total you'd have roughly 70 to 12 for everyone else. Almost the exact opposite despite being a wider variety of voters. Our electorate is fucked up, yo. 1 in 4 Americans have been convinced that Clinton is too sickly to be President.
Do we have a new Sanders angle, btw? "Sure, he lost, but boy did he make it close!"? Hah. No. Close is what Clinton did with Obama in 2008. Sanders got throttled compared to that.
I feel better today seeing the media cover the Putin stuff. Imagine if Clinton gave an interview on Russian state media? +1 instant death scenario Trump is immune from.

Don't forget that she was totally a homophobe for not supporting gay marriage in the 90s, because that is literally the only thing LGBTQ people ever cared about with regard to rights.
Oh and she's totally in the pocket of the fossil fuel industry because she would rather "transition" (more like "transmission" M I RITE?) to clean energy instead of going 100% clean energy on day 1.
This year, ISIS isnt simply a passive observer of American politics. Since the groups rapid rise in 2014, ISIS has established a far-reaching, sophisticated propaganda machine. Its members rely on social media to shape public opinion, recruit new members and mobilize followers to carry out attacks. Now, some of them are using those channels to advocate for Trump. In August, one ISIS spokesman wrote: I ask Allah to deliver America to Trump. Another supporter declared: The facilitation of Trumps arrival in the White House must be a priority for jihadists at any cost!!! ISIS is working to drum up support for the candidate it has called the perfect enemy.
Trump is the perfect enemy, in the words of Tarek, a former ISIS fighter who recently switched sides to one of its Salafi rivals, Ahrar al-Sham. Take, for example, Trumps vitriolic speeches, which provide a constant stream of material for ISIS hyperactive propaganda machine. He has been featured in at least two ISIS videos so farone about the Brussels attack and the other about the strike in Orlandoas well as a third video released by al Shabab, al Qaedas Somalia-based affiliate.

Republicans like Hillary don't even realize how quickly the country could covert to renewables if you just shout "clean energy" loudly and bathe the country in your ideological purity.
I'll be honest, I kind of miss the increasingly deranged Sanders primary maps that would come out of after every single major Tuesday humiliation put the race even more hilariously out of reach.

You'd think deranged Trump maps would fill in that hole, but... there really aren't any. Some Trump supporter in OT posted a "best case scenario" map for Trump a few days ago and it showed a tie. A tie is the best his supporters hope for...

Many folks forget that sodomy laws were the legal lynchpin for many anti-equality arguments before the courts. Removing sodomy laws (and overturning Bowers v Hardwick) was job #1 for many activists (and I think rightfully so).
This cycle has made me realize: a lot of younger folks have never lived in that environment, where sodomy laws hung over so many fights. It was pretty damn difficult for LGBT folks to argue for housing or job equality when the law categorized us as criminals.
Trump's surrogates are a mess. One of them on CNN this morning being pressed on the birther stuff and asked if he personally believes Obama was born in the US, after a pause, "Probably."
Hillary was slightly to the left of the Democratic party line before running. She might have had some odious social views in the past, but so did many people of her age.

Is Keepin' it 1600 a solid podcast? Thinking of adding it to the rotation and recall seeing it mentioned a few times on here. How does it compare to WooCast and NPR Politics and the like?
Paul Ryan's career would be over no matter who he picked, and he'd have to make a serious moral decision on what he wants to do. If Trump really did move the US to fascism, Paul Ryan would have that blood on his hands, and he'd know that and have to live with that, and forever would his name be known for only doing that. And even if it didn't, it would certainly mean the Republicans suffer massive losses for decades all minorities flee the party in droves, forever, with no chance at redemption for a generation.
It's too bad it can't be set up in a simulation or something, where there'd be no actual risk if he made the wrong decision.
I actually think he'd select Hillary, and give some excuse about how balance of power between the House and Presidency is needed or something. I don't believe Paul Ryan is stupid, and he'd realize he was done either way, so he'd do what was best, long term, for the GOP, over the short term 2 year total control they'd have, with harsh losses afterwards.

way more liberal (former Obama staffers) and more informal. Kind of just two Dems laughing at the absurdity of Trump's campaign, but still a podcast i look forward to most weeks. They also have a pretty stellar history with guests.

It wouldn't matter, Ryan's career would be over. He picks Trump, Trump destroys the GOP by being the single worst president the country has ever seen and/or brings fascism to America. Ryan gets blamed (or is kicked out in two years on the Democrat wave in response to Trump). He picks Hillary, he still gets blamed and cast aside by his own party for being a "traitor" even though long term having Hillary be president is better for the GOP than Trump.
He couldn't win. So you'd hope he'd make the decision that wasn't destroying his own party and potentially damaging American democracy.
In this scenario, chances are, Hillary would have a pretty decent lead in the popular vote, which would make things even worse for Ryan's decision.
