How about claiming that speech was "sophisticated"? Jesus Christ. If you're a lucid adult and you watched that and thought that was sophisticated, you're a lucid, adult idiot.

Hah, forgot about that one. Of course the host just completely lets him go and plays along as if what Hugh said made sense.

Wait a second. Didn't you argue that Hillary needed to switch to a positive message when Trump was "pivoting," and now you're arguing that Hillary needs to switch to a positive message because Trump is doubling down?

Well, yeah. Because I think Hillary needs to switch to a positive message in general, but especially now. That speech was something else.

Well, at this point, one thing is for certain.

Trump is not going to pivot, at least not in the traditional sense (all those primary jokes about Trump pivoting even further to the right? welp...lol)

So from here on out I think Hillary needs to treat Trump like she started treating Bernie at the end of the primaries: fucking ignore him. Don't chase the rabbit and get caught up pointing out all Trump's negative shit, because he made it abundantly clear tonight that he has no intention of crawling up out of the mud at any point between tonight and November 8. The country, the world, knows how hateful this man is, and if they forget he is going to keep reminding them himself.

So let him go. Pay him dust. Hillary needs to get out there, focus on getting her numbers up, create some positive moments for herself, and get her base riled up. Because that's what this election is going to come down to.

But fuck Trump, and #GurlBYE to the right.

I completely agree.

Trump's ceiling is low. Hillary's sliding numbers are the only reason the polls tightened, so she needs to just get out there and start promoting herself in a positive light. Her surrogates are going to help tremendously in that regard, but her campaign needs to make the affirmative case for her presidency.

She needs to present herself in a positive light, but she can't just ignore Trump's insanity, in my opinion. Attacking Trump is how you rile up your base.

I used to think this until last week, when the media made it clear that all Trump needs to do is say one word for them to jump in with a "Both Sides!!!" portrayal.

If Hillary continues attacking Trump, Trump will just retaliate; and even if Trump's response makes not a damn lick of sense the media will portray it as both sides being in the mud.

And honestly I think a "both sides!" portrayal hurts Hillary more than it hurts Trump.

When you're in the mud and can't crawl out of it, the best thing you can do is get your opponent down in the mud with you.

Personally I think now you need to hit Trump with this. Play all the vile shit he's said. He's clearly not going back on it.

But what Hillary needs to do is put the GOP on blast. And really put them in the hot seat on this issue.

Speaking as someone who's in the US legally who would've been deported under his plan, I was severely disgusted and felt discouraged about my future here. There are so many people with pure hatred for someone like me, whom they've never met, spoken to, and etc. Sigh.

Zero dimensional chess.

Trump before Mexico: "Mexico is going to pay for that wall and like it!"
Trump in Mexico: "We didn't discuss who is paying for the wall."
Trump a few hours later in Arizona: "They don't know it yet but Mexico is paying for that wall 100%."

What a fucking clown. It's like a kid shadow punching behind someone's back and they turn around and he starts looking around, whistling, then they turn back around and he starts shadow punching again. Complete fraud and wannabe tough guy.

It's amazing. He literally changes what he says depending on the crowd.

This is the first time in weeks that I have paid attention to Trump, and he looked absolutely bonkers, rambling on about biometric visas and sensors above and below his wall. What he proposed to fight illegal fucking immigration is basically the equivalent of Reagan's Star Wars program - which, I might remind everybody, was an abject failure that arguably prolonged the Cold War by emboldening Soviet hardliners a few more years.

Peña Nieto is furiously backpedaling right now during a live interview on national tv.

He says Trump's tone "is not the same as during his meeting" and he's "aware of the anger about his meeting with Trump". "A lot of Trump's ideas are a danger to Mexico".

You got played Nieto, you fool. Whatever he says right now will look cowardly because he didn't say it to Trump's face.

He even blamed disorganization at the press conference for his lack of attacks on Trump!!

Nobody understood what the fuck Nieto was doing, sheer incompetence. The Mexican people have every right to be pissed

Really, New York Times? You're calling this a pivot?

More Jews would have been killed in the 1930s with political reporters like these:

Donald J. Trump made an audacious attempt on Wednesday to remake his image on the divisive issue of immigration, shelving his plan to deport 11 million undocumented people and suggesting that the United States and Mexico would solve the immigration crisis together.

In a spirited bid for undecided American voters to see him anew, Mr. Trump swept into Mexico City to make overtures to a nation he has repeatedly denigrated, then flew to Phoenix to outline his latest priorities on immigration — a stark turnaround from the “deportation force” and other severe tactics that helped win him the Republican nomination.

So, about that pivot, eh?

At this point, I feel comfortable that the presidential race is over. Everything else until at least the debate is just noise.

Also, I want to punch Corey's sad face on CNN. The blonde pundit rightly called his schtick with the criminal immigrants murdering Americans as manipulative bullshit. She is right, American on american homicide is more common, and I don't see the Trump supporters putting thier panties in a twist over that.

One bit of fairness to Nieto: he invited both Clinton and Trump.

Maybe this really was a case of expecting the opposite result and inviting Trump as a formality. Then someone informed him, "Trump has agreed but no Climton"' and Nieto was like "Wait what the fuck, really?"

Like when you invite someone you don't really like to something vaguely for whatever reason but then they accept.

Hahahaha. What a shit-show.

Nieto played himself. All he had to do was kick Trump's ass and he couldn't even be bothered to try.

Do you not know what the reporting on Hitler looked like back then?

No, I know how it was. "Hitler is just pretending about wanting to commit genocide to get the white working class, he looks very much like a national leader at these Olympic Games."

I'm just saying it's somehow gotten worse because reporters actually would acknowledge that Hitler expressed hatred of Jews, they just claimed that he was lying about it.

Is it possible the New York Times has reserved all outrage for the Clinton foundation and emails so this is still pivot territory for Trump?

I'd love to see what Trudeau would do if he met with Trump, but hopefully it never happens

Punch him in the pumpkin when nobody is looking, blame it on a rogue moose. Offer him a bottle of syrup as a peace offering, refill the bottle with Mrs. Buttersworth's, chuckle sensibly.

I honestly think this will get corrected. This is crazy.
Really? Do you really still think that at this point? I mean, normally, I'd agree. But this is after the AP of all places doubled-down on their Clinton Foundation story and how the terrible and unprofessional way in which they handled and presented it on social media. Given that, I expect absolutely nothing at this point from even the big names like the AP and NYT. They just don't seem to give a fuck anymore, and are just going with whatever narrative they want, regardless of how little sense it makes or whether it's at all connected with reality or not.

This feels like it was written this morning before anything happened, or in some bizarro universe.

Agreed. I read CNN's coverage and it also seems like they had been told to expect something different and mainstream-friendly.

Every journalist is savaging the NYT right now whereas many people defended the AP for being inaccurate and misleading.

Anyway, its just dawned on me that Trump is getting referrals not from the Nazi infested 4chan, but from the Nazi AND child porn infested 8ch.

Seriously, Trump fans are too hardcore for 4chan... That's pretty over the top.

Odds are they got an advance copy of Trump's "remarks" from the campaign then he did what he usually does. It's pure laziness on their parts not to check the advance against what happened before publishing.

Just like our debt which has started ballooning since Obama took office, we have been overspending our cultural budget by accepting too many immigrants and not taking illegal immigration seriously. By the year 2050 native born Americans will no longer be the majority in this country, and over 50% of this country's population will belong to people who were not native born (or are native born to people who were not native born).

As such it is our responsibility to preserve this America that we love for native americans. To this end, we must revert our immigration levels to their historic levels. These levels will preserve the makeup of our country so that we can protect our very way of life.

In the UK, in Germany, in France, pretty much all over the world we have seen an assault on native values and customs by people coming in through porous borders. We cannot let this happen in the US. Just like the UK, which so bravely took its country back from invaders, we must also take our country back from the invaders that have already invaded us through an invasion. It is an invasion, folks. And we will win the war.

Not only will we make sure that only a harmless amount of foreigners will be able to come into this country each year, thus nullifying the threat of destroying our precious cultural heirlooms like Leave It To Beaver and John Wayne, we will also enact strict, merit based immigration so that only people who are culturally compatible to western civilization will be able to live her. If we allow any person over the world to come over here, we drag ourselves down. But if we are going to stoop so low and ingratiate ourselves by sharing our precious resources to people who have never worked a day in their life to enrich our nation then we might as well get something out of it, too.

Thank you, and Christian (not Catholic) Jesus bless this great and welcoming country. But not too welcoming.
