I don't know why I find this tweet so funny and so sad.

Barron Trump carefully addresses an envelope. His favorite toys are on the desk. "You can do it, I believe in you," Teddy whispers.

Oh man, I'd love if we found out Trump legit has 2 personalities. Trump is Tyler Durden-ing himself!
Well if I'm gonna keep up the Batman comparisons:

It's like Mr. Robot. There's Donald who is who goes on daytime television and is super sincere and doesn't remember things he's said and then there is Mr. Trump, who does nighttime rallies and Twitter rants. Poor Donald doesn't remember what Mr. Trump does or what his plan is.

Poor Donald.

Laugh at Roger Stone all you want, but if Wikileaks reveals that Hillary gets pineapple on her pizza, I'm voting for Jill Stein.

The alt-right should be shunning Roger Stone, because he's a literal cuckold who likes to watch other dudes fuck his wife. The reason he's a pariah in DC circles is because he was center-court in a Washington group-sex/BDSM scandal.

In all the tax talk, did everyone watch SNL?

Baldwin is spot on!

If reports are true that this came from within Trump's own rank then boy oh boy. A lot of people are getting fired this coming week. Hair Mouse is really gonna go overdrive too.

Town hall questions.

"Mr Trump, you say you're going to make America great again and make better deals, why should voters trust you to do this when it was reported you lost almost a billion dollars of your own money during an economic boom."

Anderson can find a mother of a bulimic girl to ask about his Miss Piggy comments.

Isn't the Jewish demographic vote usually really important? AIPAC, and the New York Orthodox voters and the like. They're really doubling-down on the base (yeah, I know, Duke isn't part of the campaign, but he still isn't being told off)

If Wikileaks had anything, they'd release it now. 1) It would mean that Hillary would have to spend more time spinning against it and 2) why would you forewarn a campaign that they're going to have to be prepared Wednesday? It's like Hillary saying pre-debate "Bee tee dubs, Donald, I've got something ready for the end of the debate!"

Roger Stone got nothing. He's just trying to distract Hillary from her townhall prep.

It's inevitable that Wikileaks or others have info they plan on dumping this month; holding off until October is always a good idea. There are still people at the DNC with resignation letters ready to go. I'd expect some ugly stuff in the coming weeks but as I said earlier, Trump is out of time. He handled the post-debate period about as poorly as he could have, from the unhinged 3AM tweets to accusing Hillart of adultery.

I'd also expect leaks in December and January, in an attempt to ruin certain people's appointment hearings. House republicans will be looking for a scalp. Especially Huma or Mills.

Uhhh...did he claim this twice, or did he lose almost $2 billion?

I suspect it is the same billion twice over.

A casino is a high-turnover low-margin thing. It's easy enough to lose money on a casino if you burden it with too much debt, and the NYT article seems to confirm that is what happened ...

The NYT did an article on Trump's Atlantic City Casinos . He ran his casinos poorly, managed his debt poorly, and made money off the backs of other people.

Though he has acknowledged mistakes in piling crippling debt on Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts, Donald Trump has steadfastly maintained that his resorts were the best-run and highest-performing casinos in Atlantic City.

Now, one way you can load personal debt onto a business you own is to take out a big business loan, pay it back out to yourself in dividends (not as earned income) to pay off the personal debt, and let the debt languish in the business allowing you to declare a loss.

Showing that as a deductible loss for tax purposes does need some shenanigans with corporate accounting (because the loan wasn't really a legit business expense) and with the differences between personal and corporate taxation, and probably some , ahem, misrepresentation to the taxman.

(Source: I've done the same sort of thing myself on a very much smaller scale.)

I don't think so. I mean, was there a realignment in 2008 when Obama won OH/IA? It's just the candidate. Trump uniquely appeals to non-colege rustbelt whites. I would be shocked if the GOP picks a protectionist again.

2008 was a wave election.

If Hillary wins FL/NC but loses OH/IA it is not a wave election. The realignment will be about the fact that GOP becomes the anti-trade party appealing even more to rustbelt whites.

Over the next few years we can easily see OH, IA, PA, MI moving more GOP with FL/GA/AZ/NC moving more towards Dems.

I think that was already in the cards, Trump is just accelerating what was already happening. Now it's just a matter of does it happen evenly or do we get screwed for a cycle or two?

Mmmm, I forgot about the DNC hack, so, yeah, if there's anything it'll be that... But it still seems willfully dumb to leave it a few days. If it were at all substantial, I'd do it on a Sunday night/Monday morning, to cash-in on the start-of-the-week news cycle, and commuters plodding to work needing a distraction. Or on a Friday so that it'll carry through the weekend. Wednesday is nothing of anything, surely?

I'm sure Paul Ryan is ecstatic about becoming the anti-trade party.

Both Trump and his campaign are getting obviously desperate. And a lot of the more quality polls haven't even come in yet.

I'm certain there's going to be at least one more leak of SOMETHING before election day, the questions are 1) will it be "absolutely nothing" or "maybe sorta something"?, and 2) is it anything the general population would care about?

The big wikileaks dump during the convention sent the Trump people and the Busters into hysterics of course, but the general public didn't seem to give a shit at all and Hillary's numbers went soaring regardless. If they were smart I'd assume they held off on the most damaging things they had on Hill/DNC for later in the fall, but who knows?

In any case, I'd put the chances of there being any info floating around that could actually truly harm the campaign around 0. If there was, the campaign would know already and they don't seem concerned. And at this point, the worst thing that would likely happen from any final leak would be the internet would be annoying again for a couple days.

They tried to make the "basement dwellers!!!!" thing into a controversy and even on twitter and reddit and some other places that had historically been VERY unfriendly to Hillary, I saw people actually looking at the information intelligently and shrugging it off (and defending her!) soooo

It's an interesting question if the trend will even continue. I don't know if there's anyone Republicans can run that's a credible protectionist. The 2020 bench is likely to have a record of being strict Tea Party conservatives back before Trumpism took over. I'm most curious to whether the party reverts back to being severely conservative or if Trump's motley of policies maintain control over the party.
