Finished the main story line a couple of days ago, so i'll post my thoughts. Hated how the 3 separate gang story lines were formulaic, with all of them having a similar structure and narrative, but the diversity between the different gangs was refreshing, adding some flavour to the cutscenes and story progression. On rail activities helped break up the gameplay nicely. I enjoy this type of gameplay and wasn't expecting anything different from the original saints row (zoom-in function was a nice addition).
Variety of side missions are excellent giving this game its longevity (haven't tried out co-op yet). Hot fuzz being my new favourite (break up the fight of the century, break up the steorid ring, apprehend the environmentalist, all too funny). Fight club is simple and havent really done much of trailblazing. The reduced levels needed to complete each activity made drug trafficking too easy (previous favourite activity).
A worthy sequel. I want a new city next time though.
Just picked up the PS3 version today, played for a couple of hours straight and had a blast. I was happy there was an option to enable VSYNC, didn't really notice a drop in framerate when I enabled it.
So far the game is FUN, and I think I will be spending a lot of time with it in the coming days.
Insurance Fraud and Mayhem are driving me mental right now, there's never enough around you. In Mayhem you sort of find yourself standing running desperately to find something to destroy but it's only ever the occasional cop car, while in Insurance Fraud you goto the circle and theres just no traffic, you get traffic coming from 1 direction at a time if your lucky and even then I've found myself starting around with nothing to throw myself into. How are you supposed to beat lvl 6 when theres nothing to fucking get hit by? GAH
Forget the ring to get more adrenaline. Go to the interstate instead. I racked up a 550,000 point combo off a semi once i got adrenaline, just keep bouncing off it, lol. No waiting around for cars to spawn, tons of them everywhere, especially semis.
Holy shit :lol
Did you guys do the (in Dutch: Tippel-afleidingsmaneuvre) Tippel-diversion near that porn joint in the redlight district, where you have to turn the tumb sticks to please someone or something, and at the end it says "you should be ashamed of yourselves", wtf :lol
That one updates based on story progress I think. You can update your gang there but not the crib itself. All your other cribs have a station to customize them inside.
Holy shit :lol

Defensive much:lol ? Hey I'm not knocking the game (I did say it's fun, the most important aspect to any game). I only played a bit but in the technical department this game doesn't leave a good first impression. I might change my mind after I play it some more (I'm about to).
But again, from what I played it was very fun and that's what matters.

You said it's a bad game, which it isn't. Also this game has way better graphics than SR1, and everyone who says this game is ugly, I'm sorry but your a graphics whore. This game looks pretty damn good in my opinion. Sure it's no GTAIV, but you know they don't have the same budget .
Controls are spot on as well, with the shooting being the same as in SR1, which was so much better than any GTA or sandbox game to date. The car controls might take some getting used to, but it's just arcady, not janky.
Sure it has a few glitches here and there, but nothing gamebreaking. I can play coop for hours without having any real problems. But hey, if you say it's a bad game .
I palyed through the game yesterday over all it was fun but no where near as good as GTA4.
My main cplaints are that the graphics suck, the game has way too many bugs (it even fromze on me like 6 times) and the multiplay is unplayable because the matchmaking doesn't work right.

*sigh* Okay I said "it's a pretty bad game in alot of ways", but I think you misinterprited it a bit (though I could've been clearer I guess).
Compare it to a Troma film (if you've seen one you'll kow what I mean). These are low budget, badly acted, badly scripted with very distasteful violence and humour all the way through. But these are some of my favorite films ever, because they're fun and don't take themselves seriously (btw go watch Terror Firmer, it's a hoot))
Now obviously SR2 isn't low-budget etc., but honestly I find the graphics to be pretty ugly so far (again, I've just seen a little bit of the game). I do resent the graphics whore remark a bit, because I'm nothing of the sort.
Holy shit :lol

I spent AGES getting to the Airport with cops on my ass the whole way there. I get in a plane and manage to go the WRONG WAY on the runway and manage to bail out before smashing in to another plane.
When I eventually got in the air, I just dropped out and fell most of the way down before parachuting to safety.
There is even a basejumping activity you can access if you hold Y while falling.
Where is the Destruction Derby? I remember it being in the arena in the first one, but only thing I can find there is a Street Fight activity.
Ok. Been playing non stop for 3 days! Gotta take a break so I though I'd post some thoughts.
I have the PS3 version. I never played SR1, but thought I'd give it a try as GTA IV (great game though it is) did not scratch my itch for mayhem.
Awesome features in the options: Access to save game data, genius. I do wish they had completely remappable controls though. Died a few times cause of the R2 trigger. V-Sync, also genius. Especially giving the choice separately for cutscenes and gameplay.
The ad's in the radio shows are great, and almost as good as a chat station.
Graphics are bad. Hairlines and other texture borders on the models are horrendous. Doesn't matter though, the game still works just fine. Not too much pop up, and the glitches are mostly just cosmetic, not gameplay effecting.
Soundtrack is made of win and awesome.
Vehicle controls are also bad. Not difficult, just incredibly simplistic. I prefer the GTA SA vehicle controls really, especially the choppers.
Vehicle customisation is pretty good, but the graphics and low poly models do lead to some bland looking shit sometimes. Matt black police cruisers with kneecappers are great though!!
I like the way the unlockables are listed, with the achievement that unlocked them. It will make my next playthrough much more fun knowing what things to get before I start the missions.
And a sople qustions to finish. Is there somewhere to buy the one pice suit from the catsuit? And where are all the other clothing pieces? I can find women's one piece swimsuit 3, and 2 comes with the catsuit, but where is 1? Am I missing some stores? I found the ones in
the high end retail district mall already.
Also, how does the playlist editor work? All I can do is add and remove the one track I have unlocked via finding CD's, I can't change genre at all.
All up a great game, but I really want to see what they can do with a third, with a bit more polish.

Afraid my Don Johnson can't help with the womens clothing thing. But for the playlist editor you have to go to a Scratch That music store and buy the tracks you want then they will become available in the playlist editor. Good to hear there are brave PS3 heroes taking a wild stab and liking SR2

I have bought the tracks, I just can't select any other genre in the playlist editor. There are no tracks left to buy. I go to the playlist editor and the only one I can select from the list is the top one. Before I found 10 cds for the first track I was stuck on Hip Hop, but now I'm stuck with my one track in unlockable. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but I can't figure it out.
Yea just finish the 10th level of the Ambulance diversion (start it by getting into an ambulance). You unlock Shock Paddles and a tricked out 3rd Street Saints Ambulance .
I've been playing for 6 hours and I havent started a single mission besides the first 2. So awesome.
From what I seen the graphics don't looks that bad to me.
Edit: Come guys can you spoiler that stuff,I don't want to see what you unlock for doing this actives I would like to be surprise!
Well in some aspects maybe. Still, remember everyone praised GTA IV for its graphics, but there are a lot of things that are graphically better in Saints Row 2 than in GTA IV (character models, car models etc). GTA IV just had amazing lighting effects which camouflaged a lot of its lesser visual aspects.

Uhh, well it could be something simple, or you could just be boned. That sounds really really messed up and isn't a problem that's been mentioned here before. You can try going to the official troubleshooting forum and ask about it there.
