Ravidrath, quick question, would the poster Feep happen to be the one that did one of the voices for Parasoul's soldiers? Just curious.
Zone-sama, Woolie and Matt are in as background NPC's via the Patron Saint route.
Are the other 3 recognizable to anyone?

Aaaah! This is so perfect it hurts. I LOVE the way these NPCs have turned out so far, the Sanshee one and Matt/Woolie especially.
These feel like a huge step up compared to the previous NPCs. I gotta admit I really like ZONE-tan and that blue hair'd girl that looks like she just stepped out of Pokemon.

I love the variety between all of the new NPCs. I'm sure there's more where that came from too.
Zone is a woman !? Guess you learn something everyday.
Well actually, I think there's a distinction between Zone-tan the character and Zone-sama the animator. I've heard of Zonesama being a male and a female, so who knows.Zone is a woman !? Guess you learn something everyday.

edit: beaten, but yeah, that's Zone's mascot.

They showed off the rooftop stage in-game on Salty Cupcakes earlier, should be in the next beta patch.
Great, just when my laptop is out for repairs and my desktop PC is so shitty it lags like hell before the title screen eveb shows up -.-
It'll still be there later.
The skeleton dude looks boss. Any hints as to how he would play?

Need input.Skeleton dude is Alpha Gamboa's character, Proteus Joe.
Girl is the Sanshee gijinka.
Other dude is just a dude that wanted himself drawn with that shirt on.
He is an NPC. A background character. All those NPCs were "created" (in quotes because three of those are just cartoon representations of real people) by other people. It was one of the perks of pledging the "Patron Saints" tier during the IndieGoGo campaign, to get to put yourself or your own character in the game as an NPC.The skeleton dude looks boss. A lot of NPCs become characters, though, or are going to become them. Unless Rath says they're all 100% off limits, I will continue to be curious. He is an NPC. A background character. Spent a good amount of time in training mode with it and New Meridian Rooftop is just gorgeous. I feel like I should be sipping some tropical juice made from fruits that probably can't even be bought in the US. That is how tropical and colorful this stage feels. They showed off the rooftop stage in-game on Salty Cupcakes earlier, should be in the next beta patch.
I'm gonna end up a hobo at this rate. For all you Annie fans

You know these NPCs are top tier when people actually think they'll be playable. He is an NPC. A background character. Science Shark comes to mind. Zone-tan becoming playable would probably make Skullgirls a mature title. Maybe then the dudebros will join in on the fun. :0A lot of NPCs become characters, though, or are going to become them. Unless Rath says they're all 100% off limits, I will continue to be curious.
And Big Band. You know these NPCs are top tier when people actually think they'll be playable.

Matt and Woolie being playable would be some mind blowing shit too haha.
Yeah but he's a huge skeleton gentleman...We already kinda have a 30 characters long list of characters waiting to be playable before we should even consider what are pretty much fancharacters for the roster though.
I honestly doubt Ravidrath ever wants to deal with the hassle of implementing other people's characters into the game. Although, I can't imagine any of the other people being as childish and hardheaded as the guy who "created" Juju.A lot of NPCs become characters, though, or are going to become them. Her moves would probably be a bit raunchy to say the least. And Big Band.
Why would Zone-tan make the game M-rated?
He was also one of the very first revealed male characters along with Panzerfaust. People made a big deal out of that one because Panzerfaust was moved from the Vulcan Heel IP (a game they'd like to make someday) to Skullgirls since he fit well enough with Parasoul's soldiers. Few were sure about Leduc until after the game came out iirc.Big Band is a bad example because he was always intended to eventually become playable from the start. Before the game was even released. Along with the other two standing next to him in that stage.

It's a fighting game story.Solar is making a joke because Zone is best known for his erotic flash cartoons(games? I'm not too sure. Just that it's apparently very NSFW).
Edit: I forgot we have two Solars...

Besides, there already is a ridiculously long list of characters waiting to be put in the game. And I'd bet that Ahad just wants to tell the damn story he has in his head already. Devoting resources to characters who have nothing to do with that doesn't strike me as something he'd be okay with (this is assuming they eventually have the resources to devote to creating and implementing more characters.)

Good to know. Her moves would probably be a bit raunchy to say the least.
Also, Big Band was a confirmed character for the game since day one just like Leduc and Hive who stand with him in the ASG lab stage. They were just included as NPCs for fun and because they should be from the same lab that created Peacock. NPCs who became characters should include only Minette and Stanley the Shark as far as I know.
Just because you don't care about it doesn't mean the creator feels the same! It's a fighting game story.
I'm not arguing that it will happen, I'm just saying that I think he's cool looking and would love to have him as a character.
The story seems very "fighting game" in quality so far. /shrugJust because you don't care about it doesn't mean the creator feels the same!
He is cool looking. He looks like he could be a bodyguard to the Skullgirl or something.

Cerebella's story is particularly good if you ask me. It had a pretty grim ending. The same could be said for Parasoul and Painwheel. The story seems very "fighting game" in quality so far. /shrug
Watched a few matches. Brady needs to start blocking or he'll be forever free to good Valentines and all solo characters.Brady's streaming lobbies~

Can't wait for lobbies to finally hit. It'll do wonders for the PC version which is already more active than the console versions have ever been online.

True that, it'll do wonders to help with segregating the online community a bit as well, get people like Guitalex, Severin, and Duckator out of the pool of people who've just picked up the game a couple weeks ago. I'm really looking forward to fighting it out in the lobbies the IRC folk start making as well.
General
- Squash last bug with 8-bit art. If you see 8-bit art after this update...well, you didn't. Got it? :^)
- Fix double-rendering some stuff on skipped frames, may help performance, may not.
- A bunch of tutorial fixes.
- More UI improvements, on top of the ones that I forgot to mention yesterday. Heh.
Gameplay
- Point-char snapped out assist lock time back to 300f; assist lock when assist is hit to 75f. (This is still much shorter than the general cooldown in games that have cooldown.)
- Armored assists count as “having been hit” if they are touched, even without breaking armor.
- Stun to 350, let the complaining commence! This is probably final unless there is some huge argument for increasing it.
Cerebella
- Replace Pummel Horse assist with Run Stop. Yeah, uh, Pummel Horse was WAY too good.
Double
- Car is now much less punishable if your OTG is already used. Previously it could be up to -20, now it can be -8 at most in very extreme situations, and on average is slightly plus.
Filia
- Add kara-snapout ability from first 2f of fake Ringlet Spike. Usability!
Parasoul
- Egret Charge assist appears further behind the point character to make it slightly easier to protect her.
Squigly
- Fix dust colors on color 10. (It’s not Morrigan, I promise.)
- Different ranges for Lv1/Lv2 One Inch Punch, both bigger. Now is two-inch punch!
- Balance damage on Lv1 and Lv2 Arpeggio, Drag’n’Bite, and Tremolo.
- S.B.O. now invincible for 11f post-flash, hits on 10f; projectile still goes away if Squigly is hit, but this at least gives her a chance to win vs rushdown. Damage increased to ~1700 (from ~970).
- Added effects: One Inch Punch, c.MK, Sing (will be visible once Squigly has final art).
I still haven't fought any of these guys. The only high level person I've fought so far is Ciscokid and he treated me like a joke.True that, it'll do wonders to help with segregating the online community a bit as well, get people like Guitalex, Severin, and Duckator out of the pool of people who've just picked up the game a couple weeks ago. Brady pretty much confirmed that the lobbies, from a UI perspective, are good to go. On the code side they're still doing some testing to make sure everything is running smoothly.
We're living the dream of minions worldwide.I am loving these regular changes. It'd be unfair on the team to expect this rate of changes constantly during the rest of the DLC development cycles, but all these tweaks are helping to keep me really interested in the beta.
