Super Best Friends Thread 9: "Don't Get Cocky, Jesus!"

The different finishing moves are nothing, they're just different animations for an instant kill, nothing special there. The different weapon types change almost nothing, you swing a mace the exact same way you swing an axe or sword which is dumb, the only thing that changes is the animation speed and damage output. Swinging an Iron sword feels exactly the same as swinging a Deadric mace. It's bad.
Some of the late game magic is pretty varied I'll admit but it usually boils down to spray or bolt with different elements.

Combat sucks in the Elder Scrolls series, but the overall gameplay was bouyed by a robust skill/attribute system. That ended with Skyrim and it's big reason why the game sucks (at least gameplay wise).

By abstracting attacks to dice rolls in Morrowing, skills and attributes were much more important. Sure it feels like crap, missing even though your attack made contact, but it contributed to the feeling your character isn't a master of everything which is kind of the point of an WRPG.

Oh hello

Gamefly sent me a replacement copy of inFamous Second Son. The weird thing is that it had visible finger prints on shit on it, making me think they sent me worse copy of the disc. Except that it actually loaded up for me. The previous one had no visible finger prints or scratches, yet it wouldn't boot.

VIDEO GAMES!!

That's true but if it's going to be an action RPG rather than a turn based one then it should at least try to make combat satisfying. It's my main gripe, if the combat was more fun and satisfying I would play it a lot more.

Now I want to play Morrowind again for the 50th time, need to finish VTMB first.

If we're talking Skyrim, then sure. Skyrim is ARPG (err, that is more ARPG than regular RPG on the spectrum). So is Oblivion for that matter. Morrowind is a regular RPG though, since moment-to-moment skill and reflexes matter very little to winning a fight.

If I were to change up Skyrim's combat, it would involve giving a different feel and characteristics to weapon types, but I haven't thought much about how to implement that.

I need that Steam Sale to chuck me a discounted Morrowind. C'mon Gaben, I've sacrificed a lot of people to you.

Honestly I don't really know what you could do other than make weapons work like Dark Souls where they all have their own movesets to show off how different they are, however that in it's self is contradictory to the first person concept.

I don't remember missing with weapons in Morrowind ever being a big deal, annoying for like the first hour of gameplay and then you get better.

Yeah overhaul the entire combat system. I'd say focus on third person because melee combat in first person is very hard to make good and they obviously don't have enough talent to do so. Make weapons attack differently, a sword shouldn't swing like an axe or mace.
Fuck it, just put in the MMOs combat in at least, it was much better than the main series.

Evangelion porn is the sickest.

I'm a fucking idiot. I got the wrong train and ended up in the middle of nowhere in Scotland. Back on track now but would have liked to not waste time.

Still got time to get to the destination before the capcom cup.

you should look up his Kill La Kill one. the girl is actually pretty cute.

Yeah, the girls are super cute in like, all of them, and the costumes are pretty great (Naoto in the P4 one is perfect) then it's Japanese porn and they look/sound like they hate every second of it.

That doesn't make any sense!

Why would an Anime have a live action porn adaptation when there's hentai?

Because cosplay sells.

I would be all giving them unique characteristics. Swords deal DoT bleeding, maces don't rebound off shields, axes null a percentage of enemy armour, dagger deal more sneak attack damage (which they already do).

Something as simple as having a enemies react to your damage would go a long way. Everyone just shrugs off your attacks and makes you feel like you're chopping into a sponge.

Wouldnt you be disgusted if you had to have sex with an ugly old man?

I never got that feeling, but then again every attack I did in Skyrim was a power attack come to think, I never struck with regular hits.

Power attacks should become regular hits, and then Power attacks should just be the next level of effect and damage above that.

Do they hate it off camera too? Because American porn is the opposite where the women pretend to like it on camera, but then there are like a thousand cuts into the scene.

Shooting porn must be super rough.
